- Game 1 - Highlights of the Domination of the 2001 Miami Hurricanes against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Final Score: Miami 33 Penn State 7. This video also includes the Heart - Touching Story of Adam Teliaferro. Please Remember to Subscribe and Go Canes!!!
Frank Gore's a four time pro bowler and he was the FOURTH string running back.
@tureal jones He was 3rd string, it was Portis, McGahee, Gore, then Payton
Cause he got hurt.
Greatest college football team ever.......
Don Keedix penn state best team? Dude the 1995 cornhuskers n 2001 canes would had destroy th team 100 - 0 😝
@Björn Björk Kerry Collins would've been on his ass the whole game if Penn State played Nebraska that year
They were definitely really good. There’s not a lot of teams that I could make a strong argument for beating them But then again sports are fucking crazy this team somehow almost lost to Boston College who I’m pretty sure it was not very good that season but aside from that it was very dominant
LSU 2019 🐯🐯🐯
@Björn Björk good joke 😂
Lead the nation in scoring defense, school record for scoring offense, still hold NCAA record for margin of victory over consecutive ranked opponents (and they were top 15 teams). 41 pro bowl appearances. O line anchored by a guy who didn't allow A SINGLE SACK IN TWO YEARS (and he played against one of the greatest NFL pass rushers, Dwight Freeney). Joe Paterno's worst home loss EVER at that point. 33 point average margin of victory, and they beat five ranked teams by an average of 33 points.
Penn State got humiliated on national television, Miami was insane that year.
Random, but I miss the old ABC college football music. Absolute chills anytime I hear that theme song for a game. You just KNEW you were watching a very important game the moment you heard that tune play.
totally 🤩
The amount of talent on this and the 2002 team was just sick.
It's a shame they didn't win the Championship in 2002
@@thegreatsalmon137 it is. Almost every person who watched that 2003 Fiesta bowl that wasn't a fan of either team playing believes that was one of the worst and extremely late calls in sports history. And like them I also believe Miami won that game.
@@ChrisWilliams-gw6qm don't think think that discredits and diminishes what Ohio State was able to do that night a little too much? Straight up saying Miami won that game is insane.
@@ionlybringthistoyoubecause1783 When you celebrate on a field and then the official throws the flag and they show the replay and there's barely any contact and the announcers all agree yes they won the game
@@ionlybringthistoyoubecause1783 The fact that the point you're making is that Ohio state was able to keep it close shows you you believe yourself that that Hurricanes were 10 times better and more talented
Miami was too good. Amazing team.
Yea the Canes skill position players were incredible, but what made those Canes teams so great were the O and D Lines...absolutely stacked on both sides of the ball.
I remember watching this game and was in shock at how great this team was. The score didnt reflect how much complete dominance was shown that night.
I totally agree with you!!!
Early 2000s college football is so wonderful to watch. Seeing vignettes in the openers are the best. It needs to come back
Two points:
1. Miami beating Penn State like this in Happy Valley (33-7) was unprecedented at the time
2. Adam Taliaferro is now a New Jersey state Assemblyman
That lightening speed is scary, I love it!
can you imagine if we had the T.O chain back then?!
I was there. They gave the Canes a sliver of the stands and had us spread out. There was some silence of the lambs skit on Zeta that was big on the radio. The stadium was way more quiet st times than this shows. At one point Penn state has the ball and they're in time out or something and a guy yells, "it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again" and the stands laughed. Some Canes fans had autographed jerseys and camo pants on from Lauderdale to Pittsburgh to the hours through spotty cell service to the game. Also you rented spare rooms to see the game. Like early air bnb.
Was think same thing. Imagine Sean Taylor or Ed Reed wearing it!! Would be insanely sweet.
Larry Coker iMO was a very classy coach at Miami. The Canes could've easily put up 60 points on respectable teams they played that year like Nebreska and Penn State, but usually at halftime when Miami was up like 30 to 0 Coker would call off the dogs. That is something Jimmy Johnson would never do LOL....
And that almost cost us at VT later in the year.
@@Mike-yj5yw-Bingo!
Without a doubt greatest college football team ever no team had more talent on both sides of the ball than Miami had and special teams.
should've beat em' by 50...damn coker taking his foot off the gas..
The team got worse and worse every year under that bum. We have yet to recover. Hopefully Richt can turn it around.
PSU was terrible that year. But we won in 99 so
I had friends who went to Penn State at the time and went to this game. They were bragging about how they shut down Miami's offense in the second half
Yeah, it was such a howling dog, Miami pounded Penn State so bad, led 33-0 at one point in the second half en route to a 33-7 win, they flipped many to Wisconsin-Oregon, including us in NC. i was glad for the switch, but the inside of me wanted to see them dominate some more. I don't think I saw the fourth quarter of many Miami games that year. bc and vt was about it. fsu, psu, Washington and Syracuse got switched to "more competitive games." The Huskies game got flipped to Notre Dame-Stanford in the rain at Pala Alto which ended with a TD with 2 minutes left.
Man i miss this Hurricanes football. Bama, or LSU wouldnt stand a chance against this team..
@2001miamiUfan Wow that so cool! Im only 14 years old, so i havent been to that many games, but im a die hard canes fan! My first game was the classic upset against ucla in 98 when edjerin james ran for 300 yards. My dad and i have had season tickets since like 01 or something
@PhinsCanesMarlins Thanks so much my man, it was so fun to see how easily they beat everybody
And they exposed a Heisman trophy winner so badly no one would even draft him as a QB.
So many future great NFL Players on this team. Some hall of famers too. Greatest College Football team ever.
Man We CRUSHED penn state.... Good old days...
Lol, that was a great block by McGahee. That's the McGahee before he became WILLIS MCGAHEE, with the sick visor...lol.
portis had an awesome low center of gravity when he was running the ball.
Is this when they Turned Happy Valley into Sad Valley? 😭😭😭😭
OH, suh-nap! Oh no you di-int!
McGahee block at 4:48 (tore Cam Wake’s MCL)
Another beauty at 5:39
That Portis run at 6:15 🔥
Go CANES! So great to watch Adam walk his way on the field, as a incomplete quad myself hope all is well with him and his family.
It's 2022 March 13 and it will always be "All about the U"...#GoCanes
I laugh when people say theirs been a better team in CFB. Antrel Rolle was the 3rd string.
One of the best defensive players in the NFL and he was third string on this team...
These are my two favorite teams even though they are considered somewhat of rivals. But I'm a 'cane fan all the way.
The team was incredible! The second the announcer said Dorsey, game over! One of the best QB in Miami history!
@mheff13
Saw Miami play in Knoxville in 2002....It's now something that I brag about to friends.
Miami left so many points on the field in this game.
Nice job. You're honestly the first Cane uploader that uploads the CLASSIC games!
do you have the 2001 VT game? that game almost gave me a heart attack
how would u feel to be put in the game for the first time against arguably the best team of all time in front of 100,000 plus people? i feel real bad for zack mills man
@canefreak2001 THERE IT IS!!!! Great work bro'! A million thanks for these.
We should've demolished Penn State 50+ this game. Way to many penalties...... I miss my CANES.....
Coker was such a bad hire.
Even tho im a lifelong Tar Heels fan, This team was fun to watch
Every time I see a field goal I’m like “How”.
Game was over when they scheduled it.
thx for the vid
Miami was up 30-0 at half. Could have named the score but showed mercy
I remember watching this game we beat the breaks off them😂
Funny anectode;
The next day someone asked John Madden if he watched the game, he said he did and added "Why would Butch Davis want to leave THAT!"
Joe should have had another Natty in 94. One of the best squads in history.
Praying for everybody but those kids. SMG
Also too, Derek Wake tore his ACL in this game (not sure if it's on the video or not as I'm only 4 minutes in) but if that never happens, he might be one scary ass linebacker for Penn State.
No disrespect to Larry Coker but I could've probably coached the 01 Canes and won lol. Best college football team of all time. Not even close.
this canes team was sick. but it all ended a little over a year after to my buckeyes. ohio sts greatest win ever. vs a machine like miami team. i just hoped we wouldnt get blown out and when they won i thought i was dreaming
jclbuxfan v
Cheated game was over fake MOB penalty...fix like all the games sorry to tell you...believing Vegas lets these games play out naturally is like believing in Santa at 20yrs old.
Yep, it's shown at 5 minutes. A lot of people have no idea that's Cameron Wake.
Miami fans: Enjoy what time you have with your current head coach, 'cause you know he's going to be back in State College just the moment we summon him back.
@lv305 Lol thanks my friend, appreciate it. will do!
The largest Away crowd ever. Here come Penn State.
@cavaleer I know, Miami actually had a touchdown drop right before halftime that would of made it 37-0 at half.
On Ed Reed: “...he’s pretty good”
Lol. Yeah, you could say that
Twin Towers got ambushed the very next morning I remember this night like yesterday
great vid mad but do u have to whole game
We going to break history that 2001 team all going to be NFL HOFers
@2001miamiUfan Ohh u should
Greatness 😍
@carloctave thanks so much man, appreciate it
@nickgators Thanks
The largest home crowd for penn state , safe to say the same when we visit other schools
@canefreak2001 Bro' you should add some more defensive highlights. Is there a time limit? It seems like everything on youtube is 10 mins or less.
@5canesNatcham I am pretty sure, if i do, i am making a highlight video of every single game. Ill have to see, but hopefully i do
@cavaleer Its because they had so many damn penalties. They ended up halving like a couple touchdowns being called back due to holding. there was like at least 1 penalty every possesion
YEAHHHHHH!! Finally
Well-oiled machine. This game should've been 48-0 at the half.
@bigAW100 DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN RIGHT!!!!!!!!!
Do you have all the games from the '01 season?
@2001miamiUfan Do u mean how many games have i been to in person??
@tld168 I doubt it. The University of Miami is platform to the NFL. Not the platform to Penn State. He might leave Miami, but it won't be for Penn State.
@cavaleer Haha, thanks alot.
Penn State couldn't handle that inner city speed. Too many guys running 4.35 or better. They couldn't handle the inner city athletes
The Shockey TD, lost in the shuffle is how easy he blocked a DL before leaking out
Happy Valley not so sad anymore. How’s the Canes these days? LMAO.
At least their university didn't cover up anything heinous.
Pedophile state?
can u say team of da decade
Red shirt qb never taken a snap.. against that defense 🤣
@TideatMileHigh Exactly and that's why JJ's arguably the best HC ever and the only HC to win a NC and a Super Bowl and Loser Larry is doing what now??? haha
@mheff13 Yeah, the score of this game should've been 50-0 based on talent and execution.
No he wasn't. This was 2001 and his last season was 1999. It really stains a lot of old memories of really really good Penn State defenses.
Respond to this video... We faced adversity and overcame it. you were like a proteam playing at a college level. I mean seriously we went undefeated in the toughest conference in college football while miami hung up 60 a game on their big east punching bags, a shitty florida state team, and a nebraska team that didn't even win their own conference.
@2001miamiUfan Ohh that sucks, i might go to the pitt game, i dont think im getting tickets for the ohio state game :(. You should come down here to c a game, have u eva been to miami?
WTF IS UP WITH THE FGS??? Chud can't figure out what to do inside the red-zone.
@Xdiablofoolx Good choice!!
@mheff13 lmao, sorry i didnt put up the penn state highlights.
@canes998 Yea, but im sure they would of been very depressed.lol
Too many field goals!
@gainesPp Its college football first rounders dont matter in college miami had better Nfl players im talking about college both teams are the best ever.
@mheff13 lol every single position would just b dominated by miami
@bigAW100 Miami would blow each of those teams out
Shoulda been 50-0. Coker's soft azz.
@carloctave Lmao i know.
lol ok
@cavaleer Sorry i didnt put more highlights, actually ututbe just extended the time to 15 minutes. next game, ill put in more d fence highlights
Did anyone throw an uglier ball than Ken Dorsey. I love the guy, but man his passes were ugly!
What in gods name makes you guys think that Miami could beat Alabama's Saban teams. That's hilarious. '11 Alabama defense had the best defense of all time, nobody can argue with that, unless you're a typical stubborn fan. Alabama also has arguably most intellectual coaches of all time in Nick Saban. I would ''LOVE'' to see '01 Miami play in this SEC era and see how many wins they'd get. HAHAH.
The 2011 Alabama team would not have a chance against the 2001 Hurricane National Championship team. The 2001 Hurricanes had the largest margin of victory over its opponents over a 12 game undefeated season and gave up the least amount of points in college football history. 9 players from 2001 Miami Hurricane team went in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft. Most ever from 1 school in the first round in an NFL draft. Not to mention 3 ALL PRO running backs that played in the NFL, Clinton Portis, Willis Mcgahee, Frank Gore. Safeties Ed Reed and Sean Taylor. Linebackers Jonathan Villa and , DJ Williams. Tight End Jeremy Shockey and Wide Receiver Andre Johnson . Butch Davis had recruited and built that team having already won a National Championship under Jimmy Johnsons 1987 National Champion Miami Hurricanes as the defensive coordinator and 2 Superbowls rings with Jimmy Johnsons Back to Back Superbowl Champion 92 & 93 Dallas Cowboys. Nice try, but NO CHANCE against the 2001 Hurricanes. Too Dominating.
Lmao smh What the fuck are you smoking Cole Hodge...the 2001 Canes would have demolished the 2011 Alabama!!
I can promise that this team would of been undefeated nomatter who they played that season Nobody stood a real legit chance to beat them
And Alabama gets walked on
@flash 22 no
Two points:
1. Miami beating Penn State like this in Happy Valley (33-7) was unprecedented at the time
2. Adam Taliaferro is now a New Jersey state Assemblyman
@dclfboy5 Thanks, sorry i didnt put the whole game.
Way to many penalties & field goals.......
