Excellent walkthrough again! Light painting plus a little low level lighting as a bonus! That aperture change trick, without having to refocus is pretty slick. You're a great instructor, Richard.
"Anything can be made to look awesome under the night sky"... I can not agree more using all you have teach us in your amazing and crystal clear videos..thanks a lot for taking the time and helping us to raise the bar... PS - The B&W version looks fantastic..I will give it a try in my future shots Best regards
This one right here is what I needed to see to understanding light painting. Perfect video! This ones going to transform my game right here lol. Thanks Richard! Well presented! F8 though, holy smokes. I didn't see that coming. I see why you went for it though. Rather than focus stack and so much extra work, since your foreground here was all condensed and up close to the camera, just light up what you needed and it would be in focus. Very, very cool.
I love your work. I saw your truck video a long time ago. Just realized you were the same artist who did it. Purely magical. I hope I can try to experiment with light painting soon. Thanks for sharing what you know. Keep up the fantastic work. 🤩👍
You my friend are a generous man to share such knowledge, thank you so much. Great Video. I clicked the "thumbs up" button fifteen times, unfortunately TH-cam only counted the first one. Not fair.
Your videos are absolutely brilliant! You explain things with just the right level of detail for my taste. Thanks for these excellent tutorials and greetings from Finland.
Wow! Thank you very much for answering 😁 It’s for sure that if I was around I would be delighted to go out anywhere with you to learn more about night photography. You’re so interesting and your explanations are clear and easy to follow. Even more, you look good 😁! (You look like my husband 😂) Greetings from Québec-Canada 👋👋👋
Ah ah! 😂 Yes ! You measure up ... you’re probably 6-foot tall 😂 ! "IF" you’d like to see a few of the night images I did so far, on Instagram @carole_labrek. They certainly will improve as time goes on since I found your great tutorials on YT! Thank you again for being so captivating, interesting and a great teacher!
I am so glad I found your channel! Your videos have been tremendously helpful. Looking forward to using these techniques when Milky Way season starts next month.
Another great video Richard - it's really great the way you help us learn your techniques. It's not as easy as it looks until you actually start practicing - then it all starts to come together. Thanks again!
Best video so far, Richard. It answered a lot of questions for me about the light to subject distance and the angle of the light itself. It's also instructive to see each of your frames. I was going to suggest to do that but you beat me to it. Well done mate.
I first stumbled onto your channel from doing a search on how to do star trails. I have been a photographer for many yrs. and astrophotography for 3 or so yrs. Just never did star trails. I loved the video so I subscribed. I have watched 6 or so vids of yours and I have to say, I love the way you explain things and talk about why you are doing whatever it is in that video. Never have I seen night photography on youtube explained so well. You do an amazing job and I am so glad I found your channel.
This video is absolutely amazing! I can't wait to get started, I have so many ideas in my mind's eye but have only a faint idea of how I can pull it off. So far as a new subscriber, it just amazes me to watch you effortlessly produce this art. So I'm fairly sure I can pull off the photography part however my weakness is with PS knowledge. For the last 4 years or so, I've been a sport photographer concerned with capturing sharp action shots, without. blurring which requires really fast shutter speeds and high iso which at night games is required to achieve shutter speeds of 1/1250 - 1/2500. There is another Australian photographer who produces cinematic YT videos. He lives in Melbourne and loves cityscape/street art. He calls himself Matt Irwin and seems like such a nice guy like yourself. Mr Irwin is a professional working photographer that shares his knowledge via YT. Thanks again for sharing your amazing art work style. Ted in Sebastian, Fl.
Richard, great video and beautiful image as always. This was really helpful. I learned a lot watching your light painting technique. I also liked that you picked a really unlikely subject and made a piece of art from it. It's not always easy to find a great subject like an abandoned building, or a rusty car. You just proved that just about any subject can be made interesting using your technique. Thanks for the great videos!
Really love you videos and teaching methods . Very easy to follow and encourages me to do more night shots , I just caught my first lightning pic a week ago and can’t wait to use your teachings to make my photos become better , Thankyou
Truly inspiring tutorials and a joy to watch your videos. Can hardly wait until the darker nights. I'll be out this weekend looking for light painting locations. Thank you so much. :)
@@nightscapeimages.richard Richard, thank you again for your inspiration. I love night photography! Greetings from Europe - Czech Republic. Have a nice day!
I found your videos a few days ago and luckily there is an old hut right next to my house, so i got to try lightpainting first hand and the results are stunning. Your videos are really helpful, so thank you for that.
I've been watching your channel for quite a while now, and i love so many things about it. the way you present is a refreshing change to so many others out there, it is so relaxed and fatalistically informative. I love shooting after dark, there's something so magical about it, and i am inspired from watching these videos to go out and try light painting in the manner you teach. Just a shame the UK suffers so much cloud. Keep up the fantastic work !
I've watched most of your videos and even though they were kind of repeated workflow, I sat through these 26 min videos till the end because I love your enthusiasm, your honesty in sharing your knowledge. Well, you are so lucky that you have such nice dark skies in the country side in Australia.... something we will never get in Singapore where we have a lot of light pollution!
As others have commented already, Im in awe of your work, I am venturing out into night photography and taking some of your ideas with me & although Im very much still at the beginner level on this type of photography I love watching your work and putting it into practise, so thank you.
I like your presentation style and also that you explain the way from shooting to final result. Your tutorials cover all the steps in an informative and really motivating style. I will now start to look around for interesting spots :-). Thank you very much!
