- Welcome to episode 4 of our insane 300zx Z31 build!!!!
This is the episode I'm sure a lot of you have been waiting for, Sam and James put the old engine in the bin and with the help of Bennys Custom Works, we put our new motor in for the first time! What did we choose? Well...
The Car? Well! It's from the 80's, it's destined for the track, and it's going to be absolutely wild. This is our 1984 Nissan Z31 300zx track car build and we are PUMPED!

That vg30 na engine is capable of 500whp with cams and a turbo on stock internals.
Ya it can 500 for maybe 3 seconds lmao at most they could little more then double stock to 330 crank hp lol it couldn’t do 500hp around a track it’s a sohc not dohc
@@p3aoh161 WRONG...there are some turbocharged SOHC vg30's running on E85
putting down 650 to the tires reliably.
Its always good when you have the money time and space to do you enigine look easy but its really time consuming but you learn a hell of lot about your engine and car in general.
Learning and taking your time is the best part! :D

Awesome build. That single turbo is going to choke the engine though, to much back pressure

You lost me when you took out the vg30 is a great engine and can make plenty of power with just a big ass turbo and fuel upgrades
Really wish you guys would have kept the sohc vg30 and did a rebuild and turbo but I see why you went dohc plus the 30a is beefier

I do not understand why people take the motor out from the top and you could just drop it from the bottom 10 times easier and cleaner I've done it to mine
How much did you need to bribe benny to work on a vg30. Hes made it slightly clear hes not a fan.

should be a decent upgrade from the SOHC.
You guys are lame turbo it and make it explode THEN engine swap 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ so disappointing

The existing engine was old and tired, putting effort into it would be misplaced when a good quad cam is a cheap and an easy swap. I’m glad you like how it turned out!
