    Today we're going to be sharing with you guys the brand new Toro Titan mower for 2020. I'm really excited to be putting a new mower through the ringer for you guys, and this one was a blast to use on my moms property over the memorial day weekend.
    To be totally honest, at first I was a little apprehensive just because I'm more so used to the commercial grade zero turns like the Z Master series (or the Lazer Z for my Exmark fans), but I will say this, after mowing with it, big thumbs up.
    This unit is around $6,200 with the My Ride seat (the bagger is extra), and is honestly a tremendous value for anyone looking for a great mid-tier zero turn lawn mower. If you have a subdivision home all the way up to 2-4 acres, than this unit is going to be great for you. And if you're a contractor, this might be one of the best starter zero turn lawn mowers as well. You get the 300 hour commercial warranty which means for your first year or two in business you'll be covered and can focus on growing your business and getting those new customers.
    Thank you to Toro for providing this more for us to test and put through its paces for 2020. I'm excited to report back to you guys and weigh in to let you know how it performs and what we think about it long term.

    My grandfather has had a mower business for almost 50 years now in southeast TN. My father now owns/runs it and he’s sold toro ever since I can remember, I’m 32 now. Toro is a great product and I’ve loved every zero turn I’ve had. He sells a ton of these Titans. You’ve got a new follower and thanks for the review.

    This mower looks awesome especially with the impeller bagging system. That's usually only seen on commercial mowers! I'm in the market for a new Ztr (52"). I will check out Toro's 52" option. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

    I purchased a Exmark Radius a couple of years ago. Mine is just a 48" model with a Kohler 23 HP engine. It is what I needed to get between all the trees me and my neighbor have. It has been a great mower.

    I have had the Titian HD with My Ride for two year now. I mow 5 Acres with 32 apple trees. By far the best mower ever. It's so comfortable to run. I start mowing the fields . My brush hog sits all year. Look to get bagger this summer.

    My Cub Cadet Zforce SX 60 is 3 years old with over 600 hours. I have used it on 5 acre commercials and tiny residentials with great success. With good blades, I would put it up against any mower, especially on WV hills. I am not just a Cub fan boy. I currently own products from Snapper, Gravely, Toro, and Cub. Appreciate the videos, keep up the good work.

    I bought a radius e series a couple years ago for a smaller residential crew. We put 500 hours on it. I like it, it’s on the slower side, 24hp is right for a 52” deck, and it does pretty good for everything under 1 acre. Definitely a good choice for a homeowner or a guy starting out, even an established company needing a smaller frame for residential properties. It’s priced right for what you get. I’m not saying it should be used as a bush hog, but it did okay when we took on REO properties with 2ft high grass.

    I’d be interested to hear your points between the titan (prosumer grade) and exmark (commercial grade), like why is there such a price difference since a lot of the parts on the titans are from their commercial grade mowers. Keep up the awesome videos 👍

    • @RRTR423
      @RRTR423 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Toro owns Exmark. Everything about them are the same, except the deck. Toro commercial has 7 gauge steel where exmark has 10. Toro also has adjustable baffles on their deck to open and close the discharge, which allows you to mow better in wet grass. Exmark is a great product. Can’t go wrong buying either one.

    • @jonnyg9330
      @jonnyg9330 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah only thing to add is the engines are very different. If you plan on keeping it forever go with a kawasaki motor. That's where a big price jump comes from. I like Brian but that toro labeled engine probably won't last much more than 1500 hrs. I bought a 3000 series mower a year ago and love it. Only have 250 hrs on it, but my last kawi motor went just shy of 4700 hrs

  • @MLGInfidel1
    @MLGInfidel1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have this model only with a 54" deck and with out the my ride suspension. That was a big mistake since my yard resembles a mine field. I did install a suspension seat which saves my teeth from rattling. Cutting 3 acres in half the time vs my husky 48 garden tractor is just a bonus. This Titan is just a beast construction wise, it appears to have the same engine as the Exmark as well as sharing a number of parts. If your looking for a well built zero turn mover, without dropping 15K this Titan is the ticket IMO

  • @brysonnewman787
    @brysonnewman787 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I went to a lawn mower dealership and I cut grass in the mountains and they told me that the zero turn mowers with the sticks are dangerous for hills because you don’t have control of the steering and it’s just a free spinning wheel in the front. They suggested that I should get the steering wheel zero turn. Is that true and which mower would you recommended for cutting grass on steep hills?

    I have the TimeCutter 75202 with a bagger, very similar to this mower, its a great machine overall! however, there are some things that are a small nuisance. I don't like the bagger rubber closing strap (it seems like something that will break, and its clunky). The engine is also supposed to be at full throttle while shutting it off, which is weird and honestly hard to get used to. The hydros also seem to stick at times while going in a long straight line. That being said, the MyRide seat suspension is amazing, would recommend the purchase.
    PS: with just over a 3.50 acre property I need to unload the bagger twice at 3 1/4" deck height.

    Thanks for the video. I have a toro time cutter and mow an acre and a half. They have told me at the dealer that my mower is not really made for my kind of yard. A little rough with fencing, trees and constant fight with trees growing up in fence line. In northeastern N.C. I am thinking that this toro may be the answer. Have looked at Exmark as well. Thanks Thom.

A man about 75 years old had purchased it and did not know how to use a zero turn and brought it back to get something with a steering wheel on it. I think I saved about $1400 on it . All I’m going to do now is put a stripe kit on it and cut with it

    The fact that you can get two for the price of a z master is incredible. They wouldn't lose much value even if you have to shift them out every year or every other year. Buy for 6000. Run it for 2 years. You'd get 3500 all day long to a home owner or another lawncare company getting off the ground. You get a hell of a mower for less than 1500 a year.

    I've learned that when using a bagger, you get the best results using a HIGH LIFT blade vs a MULCHING blade. It is specifically designed to create more lift on your grass and pull more cut grass off of your lawn. HIGH LIFT blades also gives you a more prominent stripe.

    Brian, your discussion of the Toro Titan has been very helpful to many people--both pro and DIY. There are so many models and choices for users that it is hard to make choices. The 'Toro' engine is probably more than enough engine for users. Most of us wont notice much the difference between a Toro or Kohler engine under normal use. Indeed, I think if you do proper oil changes and maybe use a synthetic or synthetic blend oil, the mower should be fine. Also should remind ourselves to lubricate any zerk fittings and check your blades and belts regularly. Thanks again for this helpful video. You 🎸 🤘

    I actually have been using the radius S which is the same type mower from exmark, for my properties and i can say its a great mower, except for the deck. It has a hard time processing thicker wet grass. The dewy mornings suck because it clogs almost right away. I had to use a lazer z as a loaner and it just works way better, spend the extra couple thousand and get the deeper deck snd stronger hydros.

  • @johndoesman7345
    @johndoesman7345 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What I would like to hear you talk about is transaxles. I think the Titan uses the Hydro Gear ZT-2800 model with the optional charge pump option, whereas the lesser Timecutter uses the standard ZT-2800. My understanding from Hydro Gear is that a ZT-2800 is not really meant to be used for much over an acre. After that, they recommend using the ZT-3100 model minimally. The ZT-3100 is still built on the 2800 platform, but uses steel gears, has the charge pump standard, and includes a shock valve to protect the transaxle. It would be worth a couple hundred extra dollars for a better transaxle and a name brand engine vs. the Toro branded engine.

    Definitely do a comparison video between the Lazer Z (or any other 100% commercial grade mower) and the Titan. I've used an older (2005 ish) Z Master before and I currently own a 42" TimeCutter. I miss the "feel" of how solid the commercial mower is compared to the residential model with the stamped deck. I asked someone else the same question, but if you put a blindfold on and hopped on the Titan and Lazer Z back-to-back, what things would be a dead giveaway that you were on the Titan vs the Lazer Z (aside from the MyRide)? Definitely something that would be good to highlight in a video. For example, I know that the TimeCutter's hydros don't have the same rugged feel of a commercial unit, and the machine rattles around a lot more when going over bumps. Both are things that would be a dead giveaway if I couldn't see which mower was which.

    BTW your channel is awesome. And I know you're busy but I have a question, if you have time. when you were cutting tall grass with the Scagg and the exmark you never mentioned the horsepower of the your exmark had or the cutting height. I am presently looking to replace several pieces of equipment to maintain my 5 acres. Typically I do not cut all 5 acres at one time. I maintain about 2.0 every 4 to 5 days and cut the remainder maybe once every week or week and a half which leaves me with fairly tall grass but not nothing that you were going through, and I always like to cut around 4 1/2 to 5 inches back there the regular yard is at 4 to 4 1/2. I love the Scagg but not their price in a 72 inch cut , And the other mowers I've been looking at are the X Mark, Ferris iS3300 37 hp big block , grasshopper 725. I Guess what I'm getting at here is what are your recommendations for X Mark line horsepower wise.with 72 inch deck. you seem to have a very good understanding of Various mowers. What is your opinion on the previously mentioned manufacturers. I'm picking these because of their ability to be able to bag in the spring and fall.

    • @BriansLawnMaintenance

      The 72" Exmark Z comes with the 37 or 39 HP Kohler, I can't remember. A 72" Exmark Ultracut and the 39hp would be the way to go if you have the funds to spend. If not the Titan 60", go with the Exmark Radius X Series 60", that's what I'd run on my own property in that example you provided!

    The Toro brand engine is the same as the Exmark brand engine. The only difference is the decals. Made by Loncin. Extremely high quality, which is why they offer 3 year, unlimited hour warranty for consumers and 300 for commercial. When you compare their residential Z turns, the Toro Timecutter is better than the Exmark Quest. More features for less money like the Smart Speed transmission which lets you mow slower while maintaining max tip speed, tool-less belt covers which greatly assists in belt changes, dual wash ports, etc. another plus is the replaceable front casters. If you run into something hard, they can be easily unbolted and replaced as opposed to having a bent frame that will be a costly expense.
    You’re paying more for less features with the Exmark Quest. Same 10 gauge deck, same hydros, same wheels/tires.
