Remember when it was absolutely necessary to read the instruction manuals of games because there just wasn't space to have tutorial levels and hand-holding? Mike Matei sure as fuck doesn't.
One of my favorite Gameboy games ever is Super Mario Land 2. The nostalgia for that game is through the roof. I thought that the only way to truly enjoy that game is on a good 'ol Gameboy screen, but when I tried the nintendo eshop version on the 3DS yesterday for the first time, I couldn't help but smile because it looked so much better!
Super Mario Land 2 is a damned fine game. I used to prefer Game Boy on the actual unit, until I got a super game boy when those were released then I only used the hand held unit when I was out of the house. And the super gameboy when I was home. lol
Best original Gameboy game imo. Massive graphics upgrade from the first game!
In Godzilla (GB) - in order to defeat Hedorah (The Smog Monster), just push the rock towards him!

Boxxle was fun. I was in 7th grade and my friend snuck him gameboy to school one day and had a new game, Boxxle. I asked how he got it and he said his mom got her income tax refund.

Great stream Mike. btw somewhere around the 7 hr mark you asked "has anybody ever beaten Godzilla Monster of Monsters on nes?" The answer: Yes, a guy named Austin from a channel called Gameplay and Talk which i've been subbed to for years, great content on that channel btw, he not only beat it but showed that the game isn't bad at all once you learn how to play it, you should give that game another chance Mike, its really not that bad.

Mike, I know you hate sports games, but you should at least *try* NBA Jam on Gameboy. When I was 12 and even more of an idiot than I am now, it was awesome. It's so bad it uses the start button as one of the main moves. Shaq-Fu level horribleness. Absolutely hilarious.

Did you know that the SD2SNES or FX Pak Pro can emulate the Super Game Boy 1 and 2. You can play Game Boy ROMs on it as if they're playing through the Super Game Boy. If you have the FX Pak Pro you can play some Game Boy games with MSU-1 CD quality audio, I think Link's Awakening is one of those.
It would be cool to see a full play through of Castlevania on gameboy.

You should play this game Mike, it's really good. As a Zelda-clone I would rate this game highly. If I had to choose between Link's Awakening and Final Fantasy Adventure, I'd pick Final Fantasy Adventure. Secret of Mana is apparently the sequel but I do not know the connection however I should say I prefer Final Fantasy Adventure over Secret of Mana (even though it's just a Gameboy game.)
Nice to get a glimpse of the games i couldn't afford to get as a kid. Back then I had to save up to get a game so I was very picky.

Killer Instinct on Gameboy was actually quite respectable for the time in my opinion. The controls weren't stiff like most other games on the GB. Yeah it looks ass compared to Arcade and Snes versions but it was certainly a gem in my opinion.
Evil Knievel was another game I used to spend a load of hours during lunch breaks back in the day.
Babe - yes the stupid pig was actually a really decent puzzle game for the original Game Boy.

Game Boy games... well, the closest thing I can do is use my Sd2SNES(FXPak)Pro to play the games (yes, there is a special firmware that allows you to play Game Boy games as if you're using a Super Game Boy or Super Game Boy 2... the later option is suggested).

It's going to take so many hours to get to Z on Game Boy, lmao. There are some real gems in the rough though, always cool to find a game like Mole Mania digging through the library.
I think battletoads in ragnarok world is a port of the NES game and same with battletoads and double dragon but, regular battletoads for gameboy was built from the ground up just for gameboy.

Mike been watching your streams for a while few years now . Currently watching you go through resurrection of Gannon . Know you like old rpg’s . Everyone brings up final fantasy or Zelda or even dragon warrior. But honestly I would love to see any of the breath of fires . They were pretty good I think drastically under rated . They are not too grindy more puzzles than anything with a good story and you can turn into dragons. Think it would be worth a play through 👍
i dont know anything about breath of fire, but hey maybe some day.

these a to z videos are by far my favorite but i feel mike needs to do them in smaller streams as they always start off really good but once steaming fatigue sets in he starts to get really impatient with the slightest things, also you're playing gameboy it has 2 buttons 4 including start and select stop mashing the 4 snes face and shoulder buttons
If the game is good enough usually don't care about grafics, grafics is just icing in the cake

I’ve seen Mike play The Last Ninja on NES three times now in his random streams (and I’ve heard him mention it at least twice), and each time it comes up he becomes more and more interested and intrigued by it. I’ve wanted to figure it out myself for a few years now ever since I discovered a good song in its soundtrack ("Wastelands in-game"). I’m looking forward to the inevitable play through.

Hi Mike. I just wanted to let you know there's a good hack of Super Mario Land called The 2nd Super Mario Land. It has the same music and graphics but with new more difficult levels, so kinda like SMB2j / Lost Levels, and there's also a second loop with more enemies just like the original game.
The “cream dispenser” is called “Pastry Bag”.
Mike, have you ever considered the idea of streaming all non-fighting Neo Geo games? There are around 50-60 of them, and they are mostly pretty cool. Neo Geo have some good shmups too. :)

stinks i couldn't catch this live, but really enjoying this a ton. as of this coment i'm only on the B part of your video, and hoping you can go all the way to Z, or wherever it ends. i had this one gameboy game as kid, but can't remember the name of it for the life of me, and it's sad since i loved playing it all the time(granted it was 1 of the few games i owned for my gameboy outside pokemon, wario lannd, kirby, and kirby pinball.)
