    Love this! And for those of you reading this, Michele’s shadow set is absolutely the best thing I have purchased since I started watercolors three months ago. After spending a fortune several years ago buying pastels in colors I never used , I was determined
    not to fall into the trap of ordering a roomful of paints…only what I need. But I had so much trouble getting natural looking shadows that I decided to give these a try. I have now ordered her floral set and cannot wait to get it. You will not be sorry. Thanks Michele!!!

    Hi Michele. Water is something that I struggle with, and I expect that even trained artists like you didn't find it an easy technique, so thank you for this tutorial.
    I'd like to ask what pthalo is, or means, please. I've tried to find out but no luck so far, and it's now more a frustration than a mere curiosity. It's in my paints and pencils, also in green, but no other colours that I can see.
    If you ever get to the north-west of Scotland, or west Wales and Cornwall, you'll find some beautiful sea colours, greens and purples, as well as blues, and really bright sandy beaches.
    Anyway, as you were...😃

      Just back from Egypt, beautiful blue sea there, clear with many stunning fishes! Phthalo is short for Phthalocyanine, it's basically telling you that this is a colour with a particular chemical composition. Like most chemicals (and remember, natural minerals are chemicals too, all things are chemicals) it has different variations and produces a range of colours, most commonly vibrant greens and blues. If you put the word into wikipedia you will find out more.

    Excellent as usual. I find candle wax more natural for sea. Masking fluid as you said does sometimes leave hard edges. Love your videos. X

    "British sea" 🤣🤣 and only in "certain areas"? You have to get on a plane to find sea looking anything other than your British sea 🤭🤣. Love your videos Michele, you know how to break down the techniques that matter. Thank you 🙏💖

    4:06 - tip

    I had hoped this video would answer this question in the first tip but you didn't go this far, so I'll ask it. Or maybe you cover this in another video that I cannot find. When you are adding ripples to a stream or river, do you paint them in with white or do you lift off the color to expose the white of the paper? Thank you!

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Neither. I like candle wax (as shown in the video) Gum Arabic also works well for water, you will find other videos on my channel about it.

    Would a white Crayola crayon work just as well as the candle?

  • @nattyw495
    @nattyw495 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the candke wax the best i know youve used white crayon also but do you find the candle wax works better for water spray or white crayon??? I have used candles but most are vanillia scented kinda beige woyld that affect the paper color do u possibly have a video on using colored candkes on watercolor paper to show affect of water color sittingvontop of say a red candle rubbing is that to much like ecaustic painting or is ecaustic just in melted form while i kinda fine thise painting to look at the smell of ecaustic painting while applying makes me nauseous id have to get a serious face respirator to even want to experiment which is like dry pastels not for me...altho i do like the mettalic pastels crayons( blocks?) From sennliar from france i read the warnings im like nope ...lol...but they look awesome...ill just admire painters works in books and on line who do they techniques...mikelle art mom🎨✍👩‍🎨

      Candle is more invisible but you can use a white crayon or white oil pastel. And yes you can use colours for example yellow or orange will give a sunset coloured sparkle.

    I didn't get to watch you live only 3 hours late. My question is, can the jury award more money than what JD is asking? I know it can be less but can it be more?

    Water isn’t always blue. If it’s a cloudy sky, it would be dark grey.
