I'm finally retired and can start to dedicate more time to learning water color!!! Your videos are quite wonderful and easy to understand, I love this tip on clouds! Thank you and I look forward to watching more from now on! xoxo
Excellent tutorial. The colour mixing part was great, most youtube tutorials say "mix windsor blue with thingy yellow . . . " too specific. The thinking and details and reasons behind the doing is great.
Great video! I never thought of using my primary colors (including the blue I’m using in my sky) to make the shadow colors for my clouds. Fantastic tip!! I’ll also not be blotting out my clouds anymore. Thanks so much for this tip!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. I have been struggling with mixing my cloud shadows and laying them in. This will definitely be huge help for me now.
Thank you Michele! I struggle with clouds, and this helped me so much. I never liked the blotting out clouds method because, as you say, they don't look natural. Great tip about leaving any "fluff" or hair until the painting dries; I always try to remove it right away, and usually mess up that area. Since my cat is always near me, this happens a lot. Have a blessed day Michele! ♥️💐♥️ Donna
Thanks Michele for another great tutorial. Ultramarine Violet is a great colour to use with the sky colour to paint cast shadows on white clouds, and also cast cloud shadows on the ground. Take care and stay safe.x
Tip 3 works wonderfully if you follow directions and first dry your paint COMPLETELY! 'Bone-dry', not just a few minutes with the hairdryer ... (being impatient like me will give you a stormy sky) LOL, I bet a lot of people can picture what I've done ;)
The blotted version looked a bit more like a water surface than clouds, didn’t it. At least in the area that was blotted. Might have to experiment with that.

"Our shadow colour is harmonious"... That's such a great tip, thank you, I like it when things are explained this way... 💖🍁
Nice color mixing. Lovely undertones. Your nails are a very nice green also.

As one who is extremely intimidated by backgrounds I will use this technique. Thanks Michele
Glad it was helpful!
Really helpful. Thank you so much.
You're very welcome!
Shadows certainly add to the effectiveness of the clouds.
I needed this soooo much. Thanks!

Thank you!
Thanks Michelle. Very informative especially using the same blue to make the grey. ⚘️
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing these great tips Michele. I love the different greys you mixed.
Thanks so much!
Thx as always Michele for another useful video. 🥰
You are as always, welcome!
I wished I lived near you so that I could take classes from you. You explain things so well for a newbie like me. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
Great ideas thanks
You make it look so easy.😀 But I am going to practice this.
You can do it! Big brush, each layer fast then let it dry :-)

Fab tutorial Michele, definitely something for everyone in your new, short videos 👍😊❤️
Thanks so much! 😊

Thank you for the grey recipe - using existing colours is something I’ve heard a lot. Thanks for the reinforcement!

Cats are always helping us Donna!
Excellent lesson, thank you . I shall practice & learn your technics.
Wonderful!
Thanks Michele. 💜 Great !
Thank you 😊🙏
your timing is PERFECT - I was just about to finish the sky on my painting!
I knew that of course ;-)

Thanks David!
Great tips. I've been guilty of the blotting method. I wouldn't have thought to rewet from the bottom for adding shadows to the clouds. Thanks!
No problem!
Very helpful, thank you Michelle. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
LUV!
Thanks 🙏
I've always struggled with clouds, ⛅ any ideas 💡 on how to get better? 🤔
Most people mess up skies by working on them too long. Try just quick bursts, then letting a layer dry before doing some more or changing colours.
Tip 3 works wonderfully if you follow directions and first dry your paint COMPLETELY! 'Bone-dry', not just a few minutes with the hairdryer ... (being impatient like me will give you a stormy sky) LOL, I bet a lot of people can picture what I've done ;)
We've all been there 🤣
You’re making me feel guilty for using payne’s grey instead of mixing my own cloud shadows. I’ll try it your way, thanks Michele
No guilt, just options :-)
Definitely a better technique. Thank you for sharing. Can we add yellow also (for the sunlight) in the white spaces?
Of course, there are many types of skies and many colour options!
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber thank you
I am amazed how well those nails have lasted, do you make a good few clips at once ? I do pay attention to the clip Miss
I do sometimes batch film. Also they are gel polish, I have them applied every 3 weeks, they are bullet proof. I keep them short for martial arts :-)
What about using sponges to make clouds on our paintings? Have you made a video about that technique or do you even recommend using a sponge?
It's not my favourite method Carol, of course if it suits you go for it, but it can look artificial if you aren't careful.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I've not tried it myself but I have seen it done by others. Thanks!
The blotted version looked a bit more like a water surface than clouds, didn’t it. At least in the area that was blotted. Might have to experiment with that.
I find blotting works well for foliage and trees :-)
With all due respect, I think the blotted clouds look more realistic, but thank you for the tips.
No problem 😊
When I made clouds, I blotted the wet paint with tissue. Clouds aren’t neat, especially the cirrus clouds.
I used a 20+ year old sheet of watercolor paper and my sky went wrong. I think the paper had gone bad
