You bring up a great point-what seems funny to us might actually be really stressful for the cat. Cats see unexpected objects, like cucumbers, as potential threats, and their reactions come from fear. It’s always better to prioritize their comfort over a laugh. Let’s show our furry friends some love instead!
Absolutely, scaring cats can have lasting negative effects on their well-being. Cats are sensitive creatures, and experiences that cause fear or stress can lead to behavioral issues such as anxiety, aggression, or withdrawal.
That’s an interesting theory! It makes sense since cats’ fear of cucumbers might be linked to their instinct to avoid snakes. Without snakes in New Zealand, cats might not develop that same fear. Lucky New Zealand cats get to live cucumber-drama free! 😄
Your cats are too smart for the cucumber trick! 😹 They probably looked at it like, 'Is this supposed to impress us?' Love that one of them even gave it a sniff first, just to confirm. 🐾
always thought these cucumber videos were in poor taste, like the telling kids you ate their Halloween candy, or giving them an empty game console box. laughing at other's distress is a sign of deeply troubling behavior in the perpetrator
My cat is not afraid of cucumbers. I dropped one on the floor, and it rolled to a short distance behind him. He turned around a little while later and just sniffed at it. He was quite curious about it and pawed at it a bit before walking away. He's not really afraid of anything, anyway, not even thunder storms or flashes of lightning, although he can't stand the "vakoom monster" or the fire alarm. Otherwise he's pretty calm and just takes things in stride.
Wow, your cat sounds like an absolute champ! Not being phased by cucumbers, thunderstorms, or lightning is impressive-he's clearly got nerves of steel! The "vakoom monster" and fire alarm are classic feline foes, though, so he's in good company there. It's amazing how calm and curious he is; he must have such a confident, relaxed personality. What's his secret? 😊
It's about time somebody calls this "experiment" out as insensitive and flat-out cruel!

Absolutely!
Scaring cats is cruel, and they'll remember that you did it

@@MrsCatcare Yep cats are amazingly loyal for such a crazy species, if you treat them right.🐱
Cats aren't scared of cucumbers, they're startled by large things quietly sneaking up on them. It's simply instinctive survival.
Cucumber's don't scare cats in New Zealand, probably because there are no snakes.

My cats didn’t care about cucumbers. Were not startle at all. One smelled it, after that they all three just ignored it. 🤷🏼♀️

I have always said that this isn't funny at all. It causes all kinds of stress. Don't Do It... Period!
