The XCover 6 Pro has resurrected a bunch of old-school features that consumers have been demanding for years while throwing in some modern flagship specs. Is this just a weird phone for a niche market or is it secretly the best phone of the year? Let’s find out.

    The LCD panel may actually be a positive for those who suffer from PWM. This is an issue on AMOLED displays including Samsung’s flagship phones. I have heard that the PWM on the S22 series is pretty bad.

      @TenziesTech  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I actually didn't know about the PWM issue with AMOLEDs. And considering how most phones with an LCD have crap chips in them, I can see how this would be a huge plus.
      For others reading, this PWM stands for Pulse Wave Modulation, which is a high-frequency flicker that causes headaches in some people.

    • @smartphonefan5226
      @smartphonefan5226 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This is a common issue with all OLED panels. It is not just Samsung, Apple and other manufacturers have this as well. From I know so far, Apple has been trying to mitigate the issue since the iPhone 13 Pro by using DC dimming. Speaking of LCD phones with poor specs, you make a good point. There are not many phones with LCD displays that have good specs. The only good ones I can think of is the XCover6 Pro and iPhone SE.

      @TwinTurbo Ray Long time ago when your battery starting to swelling you can just buy a new original battery and replace it immediately without unscrew any screw of your phone. A long time ago you only need to open your smartphone back cover to insert your sim card, and your SD card. And I think most of us really miss that feature on the budget phone right now. but now they make that feature only exist at most expensive lineup of smartphones. it makes me wondering if there is a sith lord in smartphone industry.

    The XCover6 had me from "replaceable battery"! I find it interesting that the mobile industry says that the average cellphone battery is good for approximately 500 cycles, that's about one and a half years before the battery slowly starts the death march. With phones climbing to upper three and four figures that's unacceptable. I've been using an LG V20, which is one of the last phones with a replaceable battery, but it's becoming long in the tooth and without 5G there are a lot of areas where I lose connections. We'll see if the XCover6 fits the bill!

    • @TenziesTech
      @TenziesTech  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Samsung and to a lesser extent Apple only make money when you buy a new device so they don't have much incentive make phones last more than 2 years. Not thay they should be bricks in 2 years but if they are slower and less fun to use people are more likely to upgrade.

    • @Notesens

      @@TenziesTech wish they'd just make the perfect most indestructible phone. Only offer financing. Then your revenue is pretty consistent throughout the year. After financing there is still money in upgrades, as well as repairs. They could charge for apps again instead, and take a royalty from each developer. (That would also help kill bot downloads). They have a shitty business model. Intentionally making garabage is such an awful way of industrialism.

      I've been using a V20 for the last 4 years and came here thinking the same thing. 4-5 years of Android updates plus the replaceable battery make this a great value at $600.

    • @loganrogers9157

      I loved my V20, seriously a knock out of the park by LG with the machined aluminum backplate and ease of battery/card maitenance. A shame the wireless chip stopped working after a swim. Fast forward to my v60 and I'm disappointed LG went this direction. Albeit having 5G (when its available), wireless charging and an OLED screen, what were they thinking making the back made of glass and going to the stupid pin push tray card holders? They tried to compete with samsung/apple through imitation instead of innovation, and they paid for it. Had they found a way to pack those features from the v60 into a V20-like construction, they would still be making phones. Now I'm switching back to samsung after a decade of sony/LG
      (Edit): also the under-screen fingerprint reader is worthless compared to the v20's, takes 3 attempts before a successful read

    I found out some very interesting things about the Flagship devices, their High MP rating etc and things we really don’t need, from a phone. The fact that this device offers a replaceable battery is very inviting, the 2400 screen resolution is inviting too and and expandable storage to 1T is terrific. The Rugged case is great, the Pricepoint of $600 is still too high though, it should drop down to around $450. I still don’t know why the phone companies don’t specifically target certain interests. There are people who love the photography/video TH-cam approach, others like the Gaming approach, others still like the Apps, charts, graphs etc, others are into just movies on their Mobile devices. Making 1 phone is like making 1 pair of shoes for everything, makes no sense out of just making money for the company.

      Cameras - not it's best, the camera tends to get fuzzy shots. It's 50mp mode is the best for stilla. The ai assistant for photo-to-text is pretty good with paper documents. Selfie camera is decent. I like my S20 more for photoshooting
      Speakers - at max volume sound gets a bit disrorted.
      Flashlight - as always good on samsung
      Headphone jack - optional but welcome for my old headphones
      Extra buttons *cover key, xcover key* - didn't quite use them, the xcover key is easy to push by accident when grasping it
      Side key has an amazing fingerprint sensor, very quick to read fingerprint and open.
      So this is how i feel about the Xcover 6 pro. Will i keep using it? Definitely!

    Yea because I just love taking my phone into my bath?.... I never needed this bullshit feature of water resistance, I needed to swap my battery and charge it outside my mobile. Fast charging for another bullshit move, never was it needed - it was much better just to swap the battery without getting into heat issues and other nutcase nonsense of different chargers works this and that and what not.

    Google Android could not even make backward compability in Android phones and have just release one unneeded new Android version after another. It is all just disgusting nonsense.

      @@lvlegabite I going to have a try, when I get everything sorted out. I have already bought 3 batteries and some external chargers and ready to see if it works out good. And have some other ideas.
      I hate google.... and really don't wanna support them, but really what else is there.
