    Last update OBRI 16-6 If the ball enters the opponent's basket, the value of the field goal is defined by the place on the playing court where the ball was released from. ball bounces on the playing court or deflected, it doesnt matter. Thanks again

      You are correct, that's what makes these videos hard at times due to some slight rule changes. Thank you and I will see if I can do a correctable error one!

    Question:
    In the Serbia vs USA Olympics Semi-Final game, during the fourth quarter with 7:19 remaining on the clock, was Kevin Durant in the act of shooting when Nikola Jokic committed a foul on Anthony Davis?
    Do you know if the referee's call in this situation is correct?
    Thank you.

      Correct call! With defensive fouls committed in the act of shooting, Durant just has to start his upward motion when the foul occurs for the basket to count. After the made basket, the penalty for the foul has to be administered which is a throw-in for the offensive team. Correct procedure by the officials, hope that clarifies it!

      @@refereeuniversity Could you please let me know where I can find the video on teaching travels on this channel?
      Many travels were missed and not called during that game.

    Hello! How about yesterdays Team USA six point play? So in FIba if a foul is called away from the ball during an other players shot (the shot not landed yet in the rim) if the shot goes in it counts and the attacking team gets an other posession?

    I have a question, if you have started a layup and are on the first step and your opponent fouls you, is that a shooting foul if you continue another step and then shoot the layup as per normal layup. And second question is, if my feet are on the ground but i started my upward shooting motion but my opponent fouls me while my feet are on the ground, is that a shooting foul?

      Both questions would be in regard to an act of shooting motion. If on your first step you have to hands on the ball and are in your shooting motion, yes it is a shooting foul. If you have two feet on the ground but in your act of shooting motion and get fouled, you get two free throws. It all depends on your act of shooting motion, opposed to what step or what your feet are doing

    hi, is it a foul when you touched the hand of the 3 pt shooter after he released the ball? does it matter if he landed both feet on the floor. thanks

      Depends on the amount of contact, if it is just a tap/high five, it most likely will be ignored since it does not affect the shot and minor contact.

    Firstly, thank you for a very informative video! I have a question about continuation and the state of the play. If I blow my whistle for a foul as the player is in his continuous movement and then his shot is blocked: is that a legal play by the defender (who jumped for the block)?

    • @pierrelefebvre1693
      @pierrelefebvre1693 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an addendum or other situation, what if that second player - instead of blocking the ball took a legal charge?

    • @refereeuniversity
      @refereeuniversity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Legal play since the ball is still live

      Great questions, contact is disregarded unless Unsportsmanlike or disqualifying foul type of contact.

      @@refereeuniversity Thank you for your reply, I had a situation like this occur in a game I was calling and hadn't been able to find anything in the rule book that seemed to cover off on how it should have been called.
