Not just a Voces8 concert. Any concert or other types of performance for that matter. It's extremely disrespectful. I got so pissed off when I heard the fucking phone ringing.
They are amazing! I have performed it 3 times in Russian in my choral career and it's almost always sung with a large chorus. It is the 6th (and most beautiful) hymn in Rachmaninoff's All Night Vigil. But they nailed it!
No one, NO ONE and NO ENSEMBLE can match Voces8!! They are absolutely THE BEST!!!💖💖🎻💖💖🎶💖💖 I LOVE their sound and their music! JUST LISTEN TO THOSE OVERTONES!!!💖🎻💖🎶💖
Amusing the phone going off on such a serenely sacred moment. It was an honor to have auditioned for you all on 2012. I enjoyed London so much that summer. Okayed ping pong on the outdoor tables at the Embankment Gardens Then probably had too much Guinness that night after the audition ;) peace my singing friends. Hope to catch you in concert again sometime. DJW
@@literallyallthingsonice I would wager this is a clip from the video. There's no way Voces8 pointlessly cut a few bars saving almost no time at all. Ha!
This one piece, of the Vespers, is so exquisitely sung by Voces8 voices… I am all goosebumps, and in (happy) tears of appreciation of a very hard job well done! Would that my singing group had done this … We would have sung it well, even if in English(!)… 😉😘🥰❤️🎶🎵
Rejoice, O Virgin Mother of God, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast borne the Saviour of our souls.
Can people in audiences NEVER turn off their stupid phones?? It is amazing ...why do they bother going to hear such rapturous sounds anyway and have other man-made devices near them?
wonderful music, would be amazing if they could do it again with all phones switched off and with octavists/ basso profondo, the recordings that have those are reallly something else

Just a note or two - but this omits the important words "Thou" (yesi) "souls" (dush) and leaves the word "our" (nashikh) hanging out with nothing to go with. Exquisite singing, though, as always.
Note to audiences: When attending a VOCES8 concert, TURN OFF YOUR CELLPHONES! Thanx!

@@AndreFernandesMovies Ibid, with a punch!
They need to employ a sniper to remove them from the performance - permanently . lol 🤣 I had the same in a performance my choir were giving.
Right ? So rude 😪
Any other concerts too! 😊
Their performances are always flawless. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the audience.
Sang this in university. Brings back such good memories
Heard this sung in Canterbury Cathedral by the Armonica Consort, Brings back such good memories.
Love this song. I sang the bass part as an audition piece and became part of the symphonic orchestra choir in M.

Best comment here . . . You nailed the Soul & Essence of the meaning.

This is a beautiful rendering of a beautiful piece of music. Voces 8 - you are fantastic!

Sublime. What a gifted and empathetic ensemble!!
Either the recording has been cut or they made a very strange cut in the ending. Several bars missing.
Yeah, almost like they shortened the arrangement at the end. Either way, it’s not too offensive.

Almost definitely a recording cut. The audio quality jumps drastically at that breath.

I’m a chorister. There’s a special place in hell for people who don’t turn off their phones at choral events.
🤬
Think about what you said and then forgive yourself for saying it

this sounds much more full with a larger choir, but somehow more heartfelt with the chamber group

Que hermoso
bellissima performance.....peccato per quel cellulare......io obbligherei lo spegnimento all'ingresso
They have not good enough Russian pronunciation. But it is nice and clear perfomance. I've got enjoy with it.
Russian? Or Church Slavonic?
Just a bit too slow and it looses it's momentum. A little suspect Russian pronunciation and a few bars missing towards the end!
Yes. The text is in Russian and It,s performed in Russian language . Thanks.
I noticed the missing measures too! Don’t know why? There is a rehearsal video, with some different singers, where those measures are not omitted.

Singers were wonderful, but... The point of this song is -- bass. Please hire a real bass for this song -- only!
Cannot like this with missing measures near the end. Shameful. Surprising too.
