I feel so lost. Took 250k loan on a degree that has a poor job market and I lost passion for it. I have no desire to get married. I lost desire in idle talk from others and just most activities. All I have is Christ now. That’s all I knew I had. I know God will get me out of this but it takes daily prayer on my knees and constant prayer throughout my day.

Perhaps you could think of it this way… You’ve ALWAYS only had Christ before. When you took out your loan you had a plan and a dream for your life maybe God was in your life maybe he was or perhaps you thought you were doing him honor by what you were doing, but God has stripped you away from that, and that he’s touched your desire for those things. But he has said be content, for I will never leave you or forsake you… And he has said nothing you do in him for him is in vain… And he has said seek for the kingdom of God in his righteousness, and all these things will be added onto you. Perhaps now is the beginning For you.

@@adamslaura768 your absolutely right. It’s only when I’m in deep sorrows that I actually start praying intensely and on my knees and then collapsed fully on the ground. I slowly coming to understanding of the uncertainty and utter devastation with the apostles and other biblical characters like Job. I see the Eucharist in a brand new light. I know now that I will never get any fulfillment from this world or from any job or relationship. Only thing I have is Christ and His body and blood
for me, a broken, stupid sinner.

Glorify yourself Lord. There is so much pride in us, constantly show us where we're broken. That we will desire You in our lives. God has given these long 6:12 stings of thought. 💭Those who live in darkness, long discourses. Like a vitamin like a verse, so much wisdom find it illustrated another way in Proverbs. This one summaries so much of what the rest of the chapter says. One fell swoop, whosever despises the Word, brings destruction to himself. Fear the Lord. Submission to God. Fools despise wisdom and correction.

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

    • @somexp12
      @somexp12 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is how that "judgment" works: Durbin argues that if society followed God, taxes wouldn't exist. Clearly, however, we still need roads, police, a social safety net of *some* kind etc. So, the money still has to come from *somewhere.* The answer is found in a common refrain heard from American Evangelicals, "Churches should handle that!" It comes up a lot when people talk about things like welfare and medicaid. Evangelicals want religion to have a monopoly over these things, so that they can hold them over the public to control them. That's Durbin's implicit model. A "godly" society could just replace government with churches.

I don’t think anyone is doing a good job of explaining what “the law” is that we are still under and/or no longer under. It’s just this label “the law” that’s slapped on the OT and thrown around in sermons, for or against obedience/grace.
If any of y’all at Apologia see this, please make a sermon or video thoroughly explaining what EXACTLY in the Old Testament “law” are we supposed to still adhere to? What are we not?

Throughout my life as a member of Christs Church, I have noticed a pattern of behavior that sets us apart from many Evangelical Christians. This behavior is tied to how both parties approach communicating with people not of their faith.
Generally, many Evangelical Christians have approached members of the church and others with an attempt to deconstruct and tear down others faiths, in a hope that the void left by their previous faith will be filled with Christs True Gospel. The intensity and method of this tearing down process varies significantly, but many prominent and lay Evangelicals alike seem to think this is the most effective way to begin the conversion process.
As for many members of the church, they seem to approach the situation by building upon the faith and knowledge of the person they are interacting with. This also looks different from person to person, and doesn't mean there aren't beliefs or practices that are harmful or false that go unadressed, but the method is usually working from what people do know and understand about truth.
Members of the church, and the brethren themselves over the decades have used the approach of building and clarifying existing faith demonstrated in the scriptures themselves.
-The Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5-7) was Christ building upon the law of Moses, and elevating it to the highest and holiest way. While Christ fulfilled the law, he never tore down others faith that existed, but built on it by expanding their knowledge and understanding of the law.
-Acts 17 demonstrates Paul's ability of teaching in a way the Athenians could understand, while also affirming the faith they already had. While it was incomplete, and placed in idolatry, he made sure to point to the fact they have a desire to be connected with and follow God.
-Galatians 3:24 treats the law of Moses as a stepping stone for discovery and acceptance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not a foreign creature that is completely contrary and evil. This verse suggests that others faiths, while incomplete and missing important truths, are a vital part of getting them to the real faith in the first place.
Here is a quote from late LDS Apostle Marvin J. Ashton in 1985. "Never will peace and hatred be able to abide in the same soul. Permanent peace will elude those individuals or groups whose objective is to condemn, discredit, rail at, or tear down those whose beliefs are different from their own. These people live by hatred and would destroy others insofar as it is in their power to do so. True Christians have no time for contention."

When this is the case god is merciful to those.
The for instance Caleb and Joshua in exodus, they are the only ones who made it into the promise land.
But the idea of “federal headship”
Is all over the Bible. Adam was our federal head and his sin caused us to have a sin nature. Some might say that this is wrong but the fact is.. he was a perfect representative of us. We would fair no better in his place if offered the fruit. Now this idea is what is good about being represented by someone..
Christ is now our representative. Collectively he gives us righteousness.
Where we are judged collectively for Adam’s sin and our sins are forgiven collectively by christs active and passive obedience.
This is how federal headship works.
Sin and righteousness affect those under the headship.

    • @ter8330
      @ter8330 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I completely get what you are saying so let me throw something else at you with the federal headship in mind.
I am a wise steward with my money.
The people who run our government, aren't
      They collectively represent me.
I don't agree at all with what THEY are doing TO me.
I have to hold dollars that are losing value.
We have a huge welfare program which I disagree with but collectively again, they represent society as a whole, not as individuals.
I am still affected however because I have to pay taxes to fund programs for illegals and for those gaming they system
I also am not FOR war, not for supporting Ukraine financially nor for policing the world. HOwever, they represent me and my country (us) collectively.
Where is God's mercy in that when our pensions are bust, 401ks are gone, a large majority of us are sucking the teat of the government but I am still His child? Is it in the fact that THOUGH i might be experiencing all of that, He is with me, and ultimately I am HIs, saved and sealed for all eternity and that my salvation can neve ever be taken from me?
Pretty difficult to NOT look at God allowing ALL of us to collectively suffer just because the U.S. (our "leasders") know they are losing their footing on the global stage. I mean I already live 200% below the poverty line.

The inflation rate and fall of America is a consequence of sin and very likely a judgement from god.
The sins of our fathers and of our own generation has consequences.
These consequences are spoken about in proverbs, the rich oppress the poor, the wicked steal from the widows the list is long.
Now when we look at how god uses the unjust suffering of law abiding Americans who love and trust him in order to sanctify them to trust him more. We see Jesus saying that they will take from you everything. But they can’t take me from you.
Life, houses, money, rights, freedom. Etc.
all these things are not to be compared with christs salvation.
Paul calls them rubbish gladly given away.
      To attain Christ.
Jesus says a wise man finds a treasure and “gladly” sells all he has to acquire the land the treasure is on.
I’d say when you look at your finances and see them dwindling, the lord is treating you as job. With loving tender kindness.
So you won’t be swayed by the love of money. Proving your faith to the onlooking angels and perfected saints to the shame of Satan!!
Jesus is his true love not money. Not position not power or comfort of future security in a healthy 401k!! Look he trusts me!
Unjust suffering is rewarded by god James speaks of the man who “if you suffer unjustly and not grumble it is a gracious thing in the sight of god.”
Now did you deserve any of this?
Yes, because if you got what you really deserved you’d be in hell. With me.
It is a gracious thing the lord allows us to gain silver gold and precious jewels by our actions of upright faithfulness to him here.
His servants are working and they are gaining riches for an everlasting kingdom.

What happens when you're the Christian doing your best to obey Jesus, wanting to do so, but your life is falling apart? Meanwhile, you have family (that you love) but who don't have any interest in God and yet they have everything you don't have - jobs, romantic partners, children, grandchildren, pets, vacation. In other words, a life? I'm trying so hard. I want to obey Him and am doing my best, in a very difficult situation. But I have nothing right now. I see loved ones who don't even go to church anymore and they seem to be doing so much better in so many ways. The pain is unbearable. Why would they want to follow Christ if they may end up like me? It's a fair question. I just don't know what to do anymore. All I want is to follow Jesus. But it's so, so hard.

I moved back to a state I'm not partial to, but this is where the family lives. They don't seem to care how they live. However, he's been growing a new family where we live and these are people from multiple churches we've been to as well. I think he'll make my family jealous of my Christian family just as he did with the jews 🤷‍♂️

WE MUST KNOW *HIM,* WHO ALL POWER/SPIRIT COMES FROM:
All power comes from the Father.
Jesus is the only way to the power and spirit, which belongs to God the Father. He who has the Son’s words, but believes on God has found eternal life (John 5:24). Jesus is perfect, and he is the only one to look to for eternal life (John 14:6). As Christians, whatever Jesus does, we are to do likewise. Jesus said God the Father gave him life (John 5:26). We must have a new life. Jesus said “all power was GIVEN to him” (Matthew 28:18). We must also have that same power in us. Jesus said it is by the spirit of God that lives in him that casts out demons, not his own (Matthew 12:28). We must have that same spirit in us. Jesus prays to the Father and tells us to do the same (Matthew 6:9-13). Jesus is the only man who has seen the Father and can tell of him (John 1:18). Jesus said the Father is the only true God (John 17:3), and we must know the same.

well, here's a quiestion for someone:
God requires His children to take DOMINION. To step UP and to act as HIS hands and feet. What do you do with an elderly man or woman, whose spouse has died, the Lord never blessed them with children and they are bankrupt due to medical issues? They were good with their money but their money ran out due to extreme cancer costs. When NO ONE steps up, from the church that is, and takes NO HEED to God's word, to care for the elderly, then does that old person sleep on a bench? No. In their car? No
They go to the GOVERNMENT for help since the church didn't step up.And what does that mean?
Well, it means that elderly person is ASKING the government to cover their rent or, something else that they personally cannot afford. They apply for Section 8.
Why? Because no one stepped up.
Section 8 STEALS money from one group in order to cover the cost of houising for another.
Why? Are you going to tell me that every single solitary home in the United State of America has not one open bedroom?
    I think not.
You see, collectively we are at where we are at as a nation because WE COLLECTIVELY WANT BIG GOVERNMENT.
If you have no one stepping up, pulling from their own finances to help, well, what do you expect?
Oh wait. Most people in the church are in debt so they can't help anyway.
    Hmmm.
    Interesting.

@@roguecalvinist@roguecalvinist After an exhaustive study of Calvinism, I am convinced it is NOT scriptural. It's a continuation of Augustinian Manichenaism picked up by John Calvin ( a man trained to be a Priest and a lawyer who wrote his Institutes at the age of 26), who executed a man in Geneva because he did not believe in infant baptism.

I know all that "let`s go back to the gold backed system" sounds logical. It`s not. It only sounds logical to ultra reactionaries and those who don`t understand the modern economy. I (barely) know enough to know that I usually need to defer to more professional minds to understand it. That`s life in a wonderful Democratic Republic. Through the division of labor, we try to put our best minds specialized on the topic of any given issue. Jeff, for example, is a Genius level mind for understanding Spirituality. Calvanist Eschatology, specifically. The economy, not so much.
It`s not that our system isn`t backed by anything. It isn`t backed by gold (who`s mineral and practical value isn`t what you think it is). It`s backed by what is known as "physial capital" which includes the American economy`s physical infrustructure (factory`s and stuff), it`s supporting infrastructure (roads and bridges, the millitary, etc.), the health and capability of the workforce, and its potential to produce. It`s more resilliant and responsive than a comodities backed system.
This is called "dog whistling." Pastor Jeff (at least) has a ton of scriptural substance to go along with his (and doesn`t do it as much as some) but it is still "dog whistling" you into the alt-right. It`s un Christian if you ask me but what do I know, I`m "Churchy Liberal."
At least our star (Taylor Swift) is rising.😇

I'll say this as respectfully as possible. You don't know what you are talking about, and not only that, you are pushing your own agenda instead of God's agenda. God's word talks plenty of how economies were run and how they fell. What you are talking about is not one of those issues.

@jayhooey9961 I never said that once. What I did say is that God's word contains how economies where ran and what ruined them. What you are stating doesn't aline with his word. If you are not aligned with his word then you will fall in ruin. Need I say more?
