I think the longevity of this band depends heavily on how long Thomas Haake can remain rock solid behind that drum kit because my god hes so consistent and robotlike every single time.
Similar to Phil Selway of Radiohead. Human metronomes. Meshuggah and Radiohead, the 2 greatest current bands in the world. They didn't stand the test of time, they wrote the damn thing

@@OfficialArthusamakh Yup. Seen other clips (and also seen live). Even if he misses or struggling he always keep it together in the end. They've been touring since spring 2022, there is not many metal drummers out there performing at the Haake standard, night after night. Incredible, and when thinking about the issues he have both with his back/right leg and his palms noone can fault him for missing a beat or struggling with a Bleed-like effort on the bass drums.
@@andrewoverhere8525 Thats a quite uninformed statement Youve made there - especially considering the fact Radiohead arent even currently doing anything together.
Ive seen them twice, both times in theatres, which is absolutely insane with the lights.... they are the best sounding live band I have ever seen live. Everything is super dialed in, theres space in the mix, its not muddy, those no obnoxious frequencies over top of everything. Its perfect. I have seen so many big time metal bands too and no one really comes close to sounding as perfect and huge as Meshuggah does.
I saw them live for the first time in 1996, Blokhut in Rotterdam, I think with Hyprocisy as opener. If there were 50 people in attendence it was a lot. They still played their black/neon green UV's. One of the best shows I have ever seen and they only got better from there on, was a sick evening!
@Ryan80880 the downside of having seen a lot of bands in their starting years is that I am old now 😂 On a serious note: I know what you mean, I had the same with bands that were big when I was a teenager.
90% of the sound is the result of the musicians who's playing there instruments with brio and skills, this IS the result of very very very good musicians who knows perfectly each others . Spécial thanks to Frédéric Thordendal and Allan Holdsworth inspiration
@@matounet45 oh absolutely, you're totally right on that. I just remember seeing some bands on that very stage before, all masters of their craft, but uhhhh....'questionable' ability to actually hear what they are doing xD
Meshuggah always have this top notch quality sound when they play huge live. the band knows the formula in live mixing. Animals As Leaders are a close second in sound quality when they perform live.
I loved how Tomas Haake kept his eyes closed throughout the entire set so he remained in maximum concentration. Its probably why they didn't have Bleed in their setlist that night.
Whatever happens in our lifetime, we can feel damn fortunate about one thing at least -- to have been alive at the same time as the decades-unfolding phenomenon that has been Meshuggah.
@@alee7275 Okay I had to come back to your comment to tell you what I experienced. Holy shit, just their presence seemed like they were some kind of nordic metal gods summoned from another dimension. They fuckin owned that space and got us hyped without acting over-the-top, and I have no explanation for how they did it. They mostly just stood there (aside from normal headbanging, of course), exuded this other-dimension energy, did their thing, and we went fuckin nuts. ESPECIALLY when they did Bleed as the encore. This was only my second metal show ever (seen 7 bands total between two shows), but I still conclude that they're built different. I have to give props to Lamb of God though bc they gave a spectacular performance at my first show that I'll never forget, but I even feel like comparing LoG's and Meshuggah's performances are like apples and oranges despite them both being metal bands.

the greatest extreme metal band of all time. the originators. I saw them live with this lineup years ago. Best live show i've ever seen/heard. It was like a religious experience.
Man!... This is like the most incredible Meshuggah video ever... "The Abysmal Eye" live and pro shot! It can't get any better than this... also the performance is amazing, Jens vocals are perfect, they sound exactly the same as on the album and Tomas's drum performance is on point. Guitars and bass sound super clear and heavy and the light show is amazing! Hope to see Meshuggah touring in Argentina, South America! Cheers! 🤘
