While helping at a local medical facility in Houston, TX, I came across with a group of asylum seekers that were being vaccinated before they were relocated to MN and WA states. So, I think all those Kenyans in those cold places were moved there by the government.
It’s the Somalis who were moved to Minnesota by the Govt… Kenyan distribution in the states is mostly based on Tribes sticking together.. Minnesota is mostly Kisii tribe, Seattle mostly Kikuyu etc etc
@AnalystTosh They just held a big Luhya cultural festival in Seattle, where some of Grace's family also live (they are Luos), so I'm not sure how much tribalism has to do with it
@@KevinStory I didn’t say tribalism… I just said that people from the same tribe seem to be concentrated in certain areas and I gave 2 examples… doesn’t mean Seattle has Kenyans of Kikuyu tribe only… another example is there is a high number of Kalenjin in Australia compared to other Kenyan tribes… I don’t know if the decision making of where to settle is based on if “your people” are in that area or not but there is a pattern
As a Kenyan in the diaspora, I’m saddened we do not have that much representation in the Rocky Mountains 😢…where’s the love for high altitude fam? (Especially since Nairobi is a high altitude location)
I think that list is official, the numbers could be higher, I know more than 100 people, friends from Church, School including my deskmate and neighbourhood friends who went and never came back😂
