Persona 3 Portable - So how’s that final boss going?

- Funnily enough on the next attempt while playing to test out attack timings for later on, I managed to beat Nyx and this boss fight might be favourite out of 3 & 4. Hopefully 5R will be able to live up to the other and perhaps provide some clips I can share.

Makes Junpei's argument in "The Answer" a lot more senseworthy
Plus Akihiko's + Ken's + kinda Korumoro's argument.
Yeah, I mean, Jumpei was the most sensical
Being like
"I want him, but if we fail its we take the entire planet with us!"
The other two were like
"We can do it, but better to not mess with what happened, even if we can win"
@@CarlosSilva-bh4bione team, law, one team, chaos, and then junpei and koromaru being neutral aligned
@@cantufekci23 I like that you used Law vs. Chaos instead of Good vs. Evil, because no one was really evil in that scenario, they wanted to do good, but had different ideas on how to.
@@bct2308it’s also cause it fits the franchise since the Mainline SMT games use a Law Chaos Neutral Alignment system for the Endings instead of Good and Bad
Night Queen inflicting 4 different status effects an your entire party, only to go and kill all but one is the funniest thing to me.
I've had this one happen to me in my own P3P mod
He know he had the power, but he refrain to do so
I mean, Ryoji did warn you.
I see a lot of people struggling with nyx, I think I might've overleveled since I had no problems fighting her
I mainly had to redo the fight a few times to learn the phases but besides from getting randomly crit and this Night Queen attack, it wasn’t one I had problems with since I cycled Mind Charge with lowering Nyx’s defence and attack.
I survived this bc i have put masukaja 1 turn before
as someone that didnt grind much this boss fight was a disaster
especially when yukari diarahan nyx
me too, I think all my party members where level 70 or close
this fight is hilarious when unprepapred (be it intentional or unintentional). believe me, all phases become an rng fest... imagine dying to an almighty attack crit whilst repelling everything else thrown out in that phase...
Usually the A.I in SMT games or in Persona games all do that.
If you equip a persona that repells, nulls or drains any elemental attacks it will usually go for almighty attacks as its the only attack that can do damage against you.
@@cynicalducky1041 I know what you mean, that's definitely something to keep in mind when playing megaten. Merkabah and Lucifer á la SMT4 come to mind.
However, you're giving Nyx's AI too much credit. From my experiments, what she uses is almost entirely up to RNG, seemingly unaffected by the resists. The only difference I've found is whether she's able to cast her break skills or not. Hell, during the fortune(I think?) phase where she gets all 4 elements she just spams them without any regard for my full magic repel; I've yet to see an almighty attack during that phase. During the physical phases she has no problem spamming physical attacks into my rpl/abs phys persona, although she does use almighty attack a bit more often, plus rakunda spam is annoying during strength phase.
All in all, her fight is very much cheesable with the right resistances at the right time. Do keep in mind that I'm specifically referring to a solo fight environment though, her AI may be different with a full party. If you want I can show you a couple of attempts (and how they fail), see how abusable her AI is. Most notably though in the final phase (last 25% hp?) she loves using magic into your magic mirrors.
@@sasaworker6417 In a casual full party run her AI is pretty good and never attacks resistances, absorbs or repels. At least it was that way for me, she was still easy for me, though I was lvl 72 with max lvl 65 personas. The only thing which makes this fight actually hard is night queen, as it can just kill a run instantly, but I was lucky enough to never die from it
@@cynicalducky1041Not that true. It only applies to superbosses. Ones like Lucifer in IV are NOT this smart, like, at all
Seeing people struggle against Nyx makes me so glad i beat her 1st try, starting that fight from the beginning would absolutely suck
I died because I attacked her when she would instantly kill your party after it took me 5 minutes at least to get to the phase and I stirmed off
Saaaaame! Especially since I beat the PS2 version first even with relying on the infamous AI from the teammates
@@carsisbest worst part was I did it myself so I killed my own team
I must've gotten insanely lucky, because Nyx never even went for a Night Queen once for the whole fight.
@@PoyominiI only saw it during the final phase. If you bring a persona with some status immunities (just the ones that make you lose control of your character) and a healing persona (it's possible to have a persona that does both), then you can just have the party block it and have the one that didn't get status'd use a healing item (or Amrita).
I was at level 90 something when I first fought Nyx. I really wanted Messiah. And the amount of money I spent cuz all the fusions I had to do solely to get to him was crazy and the last minute level grinding was also wild. Is my team tired? Yawn be gone shut up and eat your bread.
Funny thing is, you don't even need Yawn Be Gone in Portable
Spent a hour on this boss on hard and I love how in this phase he talks about the courage you need to face hardships before immediately killing you.
Before hearing about nyx I always thought kirby final bosses and the secret final boss of hollow knight with its 7 phases where the upper limit of crazyness in terms of quantity of phases
but nyx crushes all of those numbers easily
P3Fes is so insanely hard and unforgiving at times its crazy. If you are slightly underleveled for the Nyx fight you are pretty much screwed and the battle usually takes more then 45 minutes.
Oh and don't even get me started on Liz and her insanely bullshit handicaps and rules
Aside from this there's also Saga Frontier 2's final boss with its 10 phases; but you can cut down up to 4 of them by doing things before the battle
Wait until you get to Xenoblade 3. The base game's final boss has an unnecessarily huge amount of phases, and it doesn't help there's quite a number of unskippable cutscenes. Oh, and it does the thing 2 started with final bosses where if you die you're sent back to the title screen. Thankfully Future Redeemed's final boss doesn't overstay its welcome and actually doesn't send you to the title screen after death.
the time has come
and so have I
NYX WASN'T LYING
THAT ALL CAN PERISH
The time has cu-
man this fight took ages. the moment i felt that a final phase is coming, i popped every defensive strat i can manage cause no way in tartarus im gonna restart all of that
Yeah, I feel that. Had to redo fight, because of stupid almighty rng and due to obscurity of phases (lvl 70-75 or so). Almost raged because I did 11 phases and thought this fight will go over all major arcana - imagine 22 phases lmao. Thankfully it was not the case, and I overcome the obstacle after wasting 1.5 hrs. Was worth it, because now I can boast that I faced boss with 14 phases and won, because most of bosses in games have like 1-3 phases. Well, ending was not so bright, yet it was also meaningful and bittersweet. And music hit right in the feels, in both last fight and in the ending
Night Queen is literally the only reason why Nyx is hard. Mainly cuz it’s guaranteed to land ailments on the party and more than likely it’s gonna be an ailment that makes you lose control of the MC, the ONLY character you can control. Plus damn near every ailment in P3 guarantees a critical hit on a target thus granting Nyx an extra turn. It’s the ultimate UNO card. Draw +2, Skip, Reverse, Wild Card Draw +4 all in one card
P3P lets you control all other characters, for one thing, and the only ailment that warrants a reset is Charm if your healer moves first. Also, apparently in the P3P version, it did not deal damage for some reason, which they readded to the PC port, apparently
No
Lvl 99 when I faced her and my team mates are 80 ish making monad accessible before this fight is a blessing, only took half an hour or so as I just can't seem to bring to myself to speed up through the insanely good dialogue between phase change, so epic fight
i never saw that move i just kept using mind charge and thunder reign and won
Honestly I love persona 3, it’s how I got into the megaten series and the idea of a remake it’s friggin awesome but let’s be real
We need persona 1 and 2 remake, especially persona 2 IS and EP having persona 5 or better graphics with a social link and a persona fusion system.
Also I recommend always having a masukunda in your party somewhere as well as masukukaja
Can’t hit you if they can’t touch you
I probably would have beaten Nyx on my first try if it hadn't done a mean one-two punch of first inflicting fear onto MC, then hitting with an attack that insta-killed everyone inflicted with fear. In the same turn. You know, because Nyx gets two attacks per turn... Seems a bit unfair if I'm being honest.
its four against one, seems fair. " probably would have beaten Nyx on my first try if it hadn't done a mean one-two punch of first inflicting fear onto MC, then hitting with an attack that insta-killed everyone inflicted with fear. In the same turn." So basically you want the game to be easier because its too hard for you?
@@magicwandstudio3141 I was already playing on easy mode. This trick is nearly impossible to protect oneself against, which is the part I'm protesting. Insta-kill moved like Mudoon or Samsara are fine, we can defend ourselves with homunculi or the right personas, we have been prepared against it throughout the game. A shadow using a one-turn insta-kill that we have never seen before and therefore had little chance to prepare for is something else.
The barrier that reflects everything has like 20 turns in and doesn’t disappear, is my shit bugged?
Tbh knowing that Nyx is a pain in the ass to fight, I made sure to level up my party all the way 99, and evolve my persona's Stats like the Magic or Strength only (depending on the skills that persona use)
I had no problem with this fight at all but now I'm replying the game to see how hard it'll be without grinding all the way to lvl 99
i was always underleveled in p3 and 4 like even when i caught up near the end of the games i was still ass. being able to customize the difficulty in the remaster (even if it was still shit) is fr the only reason i beat the game
I beat this boss in one try but it took me over 90 minutes and 10 somas 😭
My entire team was like level 90 almost, Surt with Ragnarok carried
I went with Ken, Akihiko, and Koromaru for the party
I just finished my playthrough of P3P today. I did the two secret bosses before Nyx, so I just completely dumpstered him.
Why on god’s green earth does nyx get like 85 turns
Elizabeth: "That's what you got for not grinding in Monad before fighting Nyx."
I was fully expecting charmed Yukari mediarahan.
I beat this on Hard at level 30-ish, without any outside knowledge. The fight took about 5 hours per attempt and I eventually won when some kind of glitch happened that prevented the boss from using two attacks per turn.
Wait how did you beat Nyx lv30s?
@@stormfalcon3176 Probably a lie, Some people like to boast on TH-cam.
theodore: sister, any advice to this?
elizabeth: skill issue lol.
the arcana is the means by which all is revealed.
Nyx Avatar really just said "Stop playing, go take a break" huh.
oh ok wow
My first fight against Nyx when P3P rereleased on new systems bugged out so her invulnerable phase just didn’t end and the game soft locked me so I had to fight Strega and Nyx all over again.
And as always, all thanks to Yukari's love for crits
I came VERY unprepared so the next best thing I did was spam the revive button on very easy/safety difficulty
Didn't know that Velvet Room theme plays on the background during final boss
Okay now THAT was some bullshit. Nyx basically just threw the board game!
Now take that, amp it up to an 11, and you got the P3 Blood Moon version of Night Queen
It took me 20-25 minutes. The Elizabeth and Margaret fight made me too op for Nyx.
THERES A REASON WHY THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM IN THE GAME NULLS AILMENTS PEOPLE
Too bad you can only buy 1 per playthrough.
I find it funny how i beat this boss first try on maniac, but when i go back to the fight on hard i get absolutely destroyed.
I wouldnt know ask my thunder reign messiah with elec boost and amp one shotting every phase
Siegefried
Power Charge
Brave Blade
I hate over leveling takes the fun out of the fight but i did do a new game to do it "properly"
Fuuka: Oh no, Yukari chan '__'
I never once go into that fight in anything that’s not 99.
End of the freaking world here.
I never saw this move, what the hell
thanks god
Consider yourself lucky
That's... impossible I think?
Unless you nuked the hell out of Nyx, then maybe ig.
@@Elsuya_Milo hell yeah I did, my setup was able to one shot each phase with a concentrate or without if I had Mitsuru or Yukari chip in some damage. On maximum difficulty.
@@finleymorris04 what level/stats were your personas and party members at to do that much damage?
All great thanks 😂
This fucking fight took me 2 hours
Same. I was level 78. I think Akihiko was 74, Aigis was 72 or 73(?), and Koromaru was 73. I didn't really have a problem until the final Arcana. Holy hell... even with a pretty strong roster of Personas that last part easily took 40 minutes. I had to rely on special items from the Antique store to do any considerable damage like 200+. I was mentally worn out by the end of it.
Yea, this is why tome of void is important
I used all of my mirrors in this fight , it helps save the characters from situations like this
It wouldn't, Nyx's basic attack as well as Night Queen are Almighty
I went into this fight at like level 94 (playing on hard the whole time) and used an Armageddon on the death phase without really giving a hoot because I knew nyx would have done the same against me if it could.
I do think I missed out on the challenge at this rate but whatever. The game gave me Monad and let me grind.
Spent 2 and a half hours on nyx severally underleveled made it to night queen and died because whole party was distressed and got crit
Wow, I just realized how crappy nyx looks with so few polygons on p3portable
What's weird for me is i Never had either of those attacks used against me, and i played p3, fes, and p3p multiple times
as level 73 i have to use cheat to fight nyx :(
I love nyx.😂
I had to stay up late to beat him, like 3 hours long fight.
On my first run I beat her first try. (This was on the ps2). Here's a tip: let the AI do its thing tbh, and spam Ragnarok with both boost and amp.
i fused a crazy 1 hand sword with abaddon and used thanatos's 1 hand master ability, i was doing around 500 damage without criting.
You know, it's strange, cuz for some reason in the PSP version, Night Queen did not deal damage. Apparently they fixed it for the PSP version, so now it's more BS than in FES?
nyx was complete joke in my playthrough, but thats what happens when you go to monad for like 30 minutes and get full messiah armor on everyone lol
SMT moment
Ah yes I remeber in my first playtrougth of P3F that I finish the Last part of tartarus as soon as posible I have like 2 and a half week left before the full moon so I spend a whole week or so doing exp famring and making my team ready I hit lvl 85 and was like yes this is usually enough in JRPG for final bosses, the rest of the time I spend it maxing our as much SL as I could then I battle no and the first 9 formas where smoothley but then final form comes I spend half and hour figthing the fcker untill have like 10% of is hp left and it kill my MC with pretty much this same combo... I cried
I still wonder how that happens, nyx was a total pushover for me :/ Could be my combination of Helel, Lucifer and Messias tho
I use the power of saves states in emulator hahaha
YEAAAAAHH JUST YEAH OH BRO 🤝
I always lose my shit whenever I see someone get wiped in one turn by Nyx
great design atlus 10/10 would play again
Night Queen isn't an attack, it's just Nyx wishing the MC a good night before obliterating her.
shoulda dodged
This is one of the worst final bosses i ever had the displeasure of fighting.
Get shiva and use pralaya and the boss will be a complete joke
not enough marakukaja
Classic Megami Tensei.
Man shits gotta be the 2nd worse final boss I've ever fought
Bro is using Ken 💀
He who hath like 3 SP
portable moment
Holy shit, they really nerfed the hell out of this fight in Reload
Not really, however Theurgy attacks can melt through the phases quicker than in the original but you could already do that in the original. For the original fight, Nyx’s avatar only gets dangerous towards the last part of their final phase, although Chariot can get quite messy if you get unlucky with the crits, because of Night Queen as it can spiral out of control if that gets used first and there’s follow up attacks. P3R’s Nyx having access to all the full moon shadow skills can lead to some brutal turns if you don’t dodge the attacks and one mores get farmed from weaknesses.
It took me two hours to beat this boss but I did it first try 🙃
hurts me to watch bro lmao
i finished FES maybe 6 months ago and in total i probably spent 5 hours on Nyx -_-
Honestly it wasn't even that difficult for me it took me a few hours because charm and diarahan but i got there
What difficulty were you on?
I was on normal
My strategy was to use thunder reign and then have junpei crit with vorpal blade (his mood was on great btw)
All party members were level 99
Does nyx only do night attack on higher difficulties because
For me nyx didn't do night attack
I'll share mine if it's okay
Normal as well.
My strategy at the time was Fully buffed Ragnarok, mind charge + Fire boost + amp, tarukaja, stuff like that.
Didn't kill Nyx but only for me to use Akihiko's attack for him crit kill Nyx lol
@@stormfalcon3176
Oh ok
Thanks for sharing
I'm actually trying to do a run on maniac difficulty
Basically to see if I can defeat
Elizabeth and Margaret and then nyx
I was playing on hard, and Nyx was quite easy for me. It may be that i 99 my team, but idk
Meanwhile Night Queen in Blood Moon: Prepare your anus!
get to max level you will defeat this
it took me 20 mins to defeat this boss im max level and using messiah
Man That's what you got for not bringin aigis
I wish night queen was a new game+ fusion spell and armaggedon was erased 💀🤡
Trickster exists
Idk what to say, i fight nyx with Messiah in maniac and i win in my first try XDDDDDD
I guess being lvl 99 with Orpheus telos on a maxed out Thunder rain build made this boss a joke for me 💀
thank fuck she can't use mudo in her final phase because i lost every single homonculus to basic enemies using hamaon and hitting the entire party and dying to nyx's mudos is so got dayum annoying
Nyx is a joke, just fuse orpheus telos, max levels, and play a version that removes the stupid ai
Nyx was pretty easy if im being honest
For me it was much easier in Portable version, idk why.
Most disappointing final boss

Bruh how tf did i beat this on my first try in my first playthrough??
I've never seen this attack
Does It only happens in hard mode?
Nyx Avatar will use it when it's really low on HP
