  • In this video, I have a look at the Phonak Audéo Life hearing aids.
    These are rechargeable RIC hearing aids. They are meant to be waterproof and I'll test that in a pool.
    We'll also go over the available performance levels, the battery life, the new charger, and the myPhonak smartphone app.

      Hi and sorry for the late reply. I remember that the Life need an extra charger, as they’re using inductive charging.

    Hello sir
    What is the default battery life?

    • @hearingaids-Dave
      @hearingaids-Dave  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello,
      It’s up to 24 hours without streaming and up to 16 hours with 5 hours of streaming.
      However, the capacity of the battery reduced with the age of the hearing aids. But they should bring you through the day with one charge.
      Best,
      Dave

    Would you say hearing aids survive the following scenario in regards of water. I am not talking about falling out of the ears (which would be interesting as well…): Sit in a sea canoe in the open sea and paddle over said sea. When it comes to the worst it might be necessary to do an Eskimo roll and submerge them in water for a short amount of time. Or doing bodyboarding and duck diving through the waves. For anyone asking why you would do that: I am living two minutes from the beach and am doing A LOT of water activity including canoeing and bodyboard. Especially when being out with multiple people it might come in very handy to understand something aka having hearing aids in the ears.

      Christian, that’s a great question.
      After the testing I did with the hearing aids I strongly believe that they will be capable of doing these things with you and still work. However, I would rinse them with clean water after your water sports.
      By the way: sounds like a great daily routine that you’re having!

      Dave

      @@hearingaids-Dave ok this is one big step closer to acquiring these. In regards to the routine. if you are lucky enough to live 2 mins from a beach profit from it as much as you can and that is exactly what I do…. :-)

      Hi and sorry for the late response. They might work with computers, but that depends on the brand and model. However, there has been a workaround using the Phonak ComPilot II. I’m not sure if this accessory is still sold.

    It Would be great if you’d recite these more thoroughly! Your conclusion is sounds like it was written by Phonak’s marketing team! We want to hear independent criticism! Where’s your honest review? I’ve had a pair of these for 3 weeks and they’re good but have major issues. Wind is a really impossible noise and I ride a bicycle and it sounds like I’m free-falling from 10K feet! No way to adjust for this. How does the Resound Omnia compare? Well of course I’ve watched your review but again, you offer no opinion on the details no criticism. I’m assuming you don’t actually wear hearing aids which probably makes your experience with them limited even though you’re a professional I hope you find us constructive criticism helpful

      Gregory, thank you for your comment which I truly appreciate.
      It is true that I like the Phonak hearing aids, as they work really well with my patient, so they didn't pay me for that ;) . In general, I use feedback from my patients as an indicator for my conclusions to stay objective.
      I'm trying to cover the most interesting topics and unfortunately can't go too much into detail for each function. Also, there are areas, where all hearing aids have bad performances, like understanding speech in crowded rooms or noise from wind. In these cases I have to ask myself "is there a hearing aid that performs really better?" and if the answer is "no", I won't cover it.
      Again, I appreciate your comment and you will find, that there will be more critics in my coming videos.
      Best,
      Dave

      Do they allow automatic switching between multiple devices depending on whatever device is playing audio?

    • @hearingaids-Dave
      @hearingaids-Dave  ปีที่แล้ว

      The fitting range of RIC hearing aids is limited by the capacity of the external receiver. Meanwhile there are high-pair receivers with a lot of sound pressure. However, there are also links to these devices.

      Pool should be no problem, but watch out not to lose them when kayaking! 😅

      They can have active Bluetooth connections with up to two devices at once and connect to up to eight different devices. I’m honestly not sure if they switch automatically, but even if they don’t, switching devices should be pretty easy then.

      Hello and thank you for your comment.
      The hearing aids charge with open or closed lid. As soon as you place the hearing aids in the charger they start charging.

    Having experienced the after sale service of GN Resound in India during last 2 years ( within warranty period ) , I strongly recommend that in India atleast , users should prefer other brands like Phonak and never go for GN Resound.
    This regarding usage of Resound - Quattro 7 RIC which had been sent for repairs to their Mumbai office 5 times in last 6 months but issues falling on deaf ears.

      I’m sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with the ReSound support. Usually it works quite well. Hope your hearing aids are working now.

    I want to know IF you have poket hearing aid

    • @hearingaids-Dave
      @hearingaids-Dave  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nasser,
      I'm not 100% sure, do you mean hearing aids with the technical parts in a pretty big box that is carried in your pocket and with the receivers in the ear? If that's the case, some companies have these devices, most of which can be found on Amazon.
      Hope that help!
      Best,
      Dave
