    I received these from the VA. The audiologist asked if I wanted the retainer to help keep them in place. Being my first aids I ignorantly said no. A week later I was towing my travel trailer and got a flat tire. I changed the tire and continued down the road. Arriving at camp a couple hours later I realized I was missing my left hearing aid. A thorough search failed. A week later back at home I returned to the scene of the tire change. My wife found the hearing aid in the grass beside the road. After charging the hearing aid is working fine. I don’t think it rained during its time beside the road and the morning dew did not damage it.

    I hope Phonak would consider a longer lasting rechargeable battery, like Resound. Resound has 30 hours and it stays at 25 hours at 5 years, which is great for people who don’t upgrade every few years.

    Thanks for this review. My daughter has been waiting her whole life for a waterproof hearing aid. We are trying this one out to see if she likes it. We went swimming and it works for the first couple of minutes and then it stops. When we get the water out of the dome it helps but then just gets weak. Any troubleshooting. The hearing aids themselves aren’t broken and always revive after a few minutes. But I would love her to be able to head while she swims. Any tips? Is it something with the speaker or dome?

    I have these, my normal average wear time per a day is about 16 hours with plenty of hours left. I usually go 6 am to 1am in the morning the next day....PhD student life. I stream 4 plus hours of music and video. I'm super active, hike, run, backpack, bike...no problem with moisture! They actually sound better to me than that other Phonak Paradise Audéo. From the charger case I can get about 4 to 5 charges. But my level of hearing loss is moderate to mild reverse slope.

    I liked that you can replace the wire to the hearing aid easier by pulling it out and then plugging in a new one when it goes bad. I also love the fact that they’re easier to remove from the charger.
    The biggest dislike for me about those hearing aids is the lack of a built-in telecoil. That is disappointing to users who still rely on this technology to hear in situations that have a looped area.
    Other than that I’m happy Phonak improved things here.

    I had my hearing aids in 2015, and I broke my pink ones and I have my blue ones for like two years and today I am getting the mature ones, which are the wire ones. The pink and blue ones are the tubes and the color of the wire ones are going to be almost the same color as my hair. Since I sometimes have drainage in my ears (there’s tubes in my eardrums), I have to get the wires or something changed. And also my hearing aids are not the same. If you think I’m a elderly person, no I’m not. I’m a teenager who lost some of her hearing.

    Thanks for a very thorough review. I'm a subscriber because your videos are terrific - very informative and well done!
    I have moderate to severe hearing loss and feel I need the most technologically-advanced aids that are currently available. I'm presently trying a pair of Paradise Audéo P90 aids along with the Roger ON (I've also tried Oticon More and Signia Pure aids - my audiologist is very patient!). On your recommendation I also asked her to do a real ear measurement with the Audéo aids.
    Overall, my speech discrimination is slightly better than with my Oticon One aids. Not significantly better, but my hearing is at that stage where I'm probably not going to be able to easily understand speech in certain situations when I'm out and about (but Roger ON is certainly helping!). The price of the aids and Roger ON is steep, but I'll bite the bullet if it helps me.
    So after watching this video I asked my audiologist to order the Life aids for a trial. One small concern is that you mentioned that the Life batteries are good for about 16 hrs, which is less than what I'm experiencing with the Audéo aids. The fact that the Life charging case holds additional charges is certainly a plus. Do they use the same battery? Another possible drawback is that if the right aid needs charging I won't be able to stream phone calls etc. while it's on charge. Is that still the case?
    One last thing... I think it would be awesome if the MyPhonak app would have a companion app for the Apple Watch. That would provide a bit more convenience and practicality, and maybe allow users to be a bit more discreet. Thoughts?
    Again, MANY thanks for all of your videos... keep up the great work!

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Battery life can be an issue depending on your hearing loss. You won't be able to stream if the main hearing aid is charging. Dont expect an apple watch app anytime in the near future.

    I simply love your Videos! I enjoy the energy you show and the information you present is great. Here is a question... on the Phonak Audeo P90R and P90RL have you heard of any issues with the sound shifting off to one side while streaming? This is very apparent while listening to a book being read. I have been trying out a few sets of them and found the balance shifts after a while and if I pause the source and then continue the sound re-centers and is fine for a while and then slowly shifts again. I would like to purchase the Life versions, but this balance shift is a deal breaker for me. My audiologist has given up trying to find a solution. Thank you.

    I can't wait for the Phonak Life to be released here in Canada and keep checking availability with them. I have had nothing but moisture problems since day one with another top of the line brand and swore I would never buy another pair of hearing aids until someone came up with a waterproof design. You are very diplomatic but let's face it Dr Cliff these products are technological marvels but engineered to fail. With not even a piece of Gortex over the microphones they might as well put a funnel there. Their constant moisture failures create a never ending revenue stream over something as common as sweating in July or being caught in the rain. The after warranty repair charges are astronomical and absolutely ridiculous when most customers are fixed income seniors. As you can tell I'm very disillusioned with the industry after my experiences with my first pair of hearing aids. Phonak has to be congratulated for bringing the Life product to the marketplace, its long overdue and will hopefully force other manufactures to step up. Thank you Dr Cliff for keeping the public so well informed without you I would have not known Phonak Life were coming soon!

Before i question them, is it because the Titanium mould will not fit in the charger case Go but will fit in the Ease charger as it has a bigger storage cavity, maybe the weight of the titanium Moulds are too heavy so the induction charging easily disconnects. Are the connections from the Activent not compatable with the 90RL, which seems crazy as they are both Phonaks latest offerings ?

    I have pretty big outdoor lifestyle, cycling, bike packing and river running and have mild-mod hearing loss at the high frequency and narrow ear canals. I have tried the Phonak Paradise and the Resound One’s. I was thrilled to learn about the Phonak Life due to water resistance. While I like a lot of the features of the Resounds like the general sound and wind suppression and their Smart 3D app, I think I could destroy them unless I just pack them away when in the outdoors. If I get the Phonak Life’s, could I get some of the same wind noise reduction as the Resounds by reducing background noise? I notice the Phonaks seem to naturally cut wind noise but some of the higher pitch wind noises can be heard. Do the Phonaks Paradise or the Life have wind blockers? Thanks so much for all of your expertise.

      @DrCliffAuD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      there is a wind noise reduction feature, but it has to be programmed by your provider. You can't adjust it on your own. You could have a separate program to activate when you want/need it and use your other automatic programs otherwise.

    I purchased these about 3 weeks ago, and when I picked them up, I was told that the charger had an issue. I should have refused them at that point. I was told that if you closed the top of the charger, the aids would actually discharge overnight, so I was told to leave the top open, which does solve the discharge problem. The problem now is that with the top open, there is a bright LED light that lights up the bedroom, so I keep the charger in another room. These aids should never have been released for sale with this bug. I am deciding whether to return them or assume their will be a fix in the future. Dr. Cliff I used your review as a guide to purchase these, and I am surprised that you did not see this issue?

    I’ve had mine for a few weeks now and love them (besides one problem). I was in the trial period of the P90 so it was a no-brainer to try. I love that I don’t have to worry when on long distance runs or in the rain.
    The problem is that there’s a charging issue. The aids charge for 3 hours and then stop charging. So, I wake up in the morning and there anywhere from 80-90% of battery capacity because they started running after 3 hours (still in the charging case). I reached out to my audiologist and she said she heard from her rep that it is a known issue. They are hoping a firmware update will fix it (no timing on release given).
    The issue isn’t too bad to avoid them because I pull them out for a second when I wake up and then drop them back in the charger. By the time I’m showered/dressed they are at 100%.
    I love that the charging case has a battery built in and you don’t have to purchase it separately (and it’s smaller!).

      Yes, if you go with the Audeo Paradise RT or the Paradise 13T, you get both.

    Doctor Cliff - I'm a new owner of Phonak Audio Life Hearing Aids. I have the Go-Charger which stopped working. I spoke with Phonak Customer Phone Support. They informed me that these chargers are being discontinued because of their "unreliability" and as a replacement I would have to get a Non Go Life Charger. Have you heard anything like this? I'm going to be following up with my audiologist but this would be quite disappointing beast the "Go" feature is kind of nice if you are out of the house and need a quick charge.
