“And when the Commonwealth needed him most, he returned” Seriously though, amazing to see you back! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for this one.
Finally a building channel…love this so far. Very relaxing with just the sound effects of build mode and this build is coming alone great so far. Keep it up dude! Will be binge watching.
happy with your return, for this construction it's not easy with the bridge as an obstacle but for you it's not a problem I can't wait to see the rest😊👍
Nice to know I make building here look easy, found it a real challenge to come up with a design that works with this settlements tricky terrain and have to confess to making a few attempts before finding one that works 😓. Sorry that I have not been around recently and know I have missed a couple of your builds (need to catch up), but great to hear you enjoyed this and are looking forward to seeing more 🙏😁.
That’s odd, I know TH-cam did have an issue last night where channel pages were appearing blank (I could not even access my own) so that might have something to do with it? Unless you were trying to post a link your comment should have appeared, and I don’t see anything in the held for review tab 😔.
Ooh this will be a good one. I often struggle with Graygarden, simply because I don't have any real idea of what to put there. So this series may just inspire me to do something decent with it for a change.
No shame in struggling to build at this place, I know I did 😉😁. Went through a few different designs before finally coming up with this layout and was close to calling it quits and choosing a different location, so hopefully this series will be able to provide you with a few ideas on what to do with the place🤞.
I can't wait to see what is done to the top part of the bridge. I usually build a scaffold-stair system that climbs to both the first and second bridge. I don't build much on the lower one, but the upper one has my restaurant and some other shops. Great view from up there.
Thanks! Must admit I did want to try and build on the overpass but building the large tower needed to get up there really does not suit the style I like to build in, and cant imagine the settlers wonky pathing AI would make use of the space up there even if I did 🙃🤣.
@@FiddleflapsVids - That's why I use an elevator instead of stairs. Settlers don't use the elevator. The only things I have on the overpass are generators, a few turrets and a (modded) vertibird landing pad.
@@FiddleflapsVids Did you leave an empty space for an elevator mod? That dead end next to the yellow machines looks like a suspiciously good and deliberate place for an elevator.
I have not intentionally left a spot for an elevator mod although that area would make a good spot. I did play around with the standard elevators and if the small awning outside the warehouse is removed (by the bridge support), then the standard 4 floor elevator would reach up to the bridge.
@@FiddleflapsVids I don't plan to build on the overpass, but it's good to know that anyone who wants to, can do it with a small mod and very minor adjustments to your blueprint.
I'm glad finding you general. It is so good to know a people can do building plus with satisfaction. But, in the meantime, there is another settlement that need our help. I'll mark on your map.
Yessssssssss I was waiting for this! Love how it looks so far! Thanks for sharing! Graygarden is one of my favorite settlements to build. I can't wait to see the rest. So far it looks amazing. :)
Many thanks! Sorry for the lack of recent content, but really needed a break and did want not to push out a build that my heart was not really into just for the sake of uploading. Really pleased to hear you enjoyed it and are looking forward to seeing more 🙏😁.
I just love your settlement builds, I always try to copy them but due to me not having mods or the dlc’s I always to my own little things. But just wanted to say keep up the work 😁
Thanks! Always baffled me why the choice of settlement objects was so limited, and that there were not more DLC content packs. A lot of the stuff is already in the game and I can add them via console commands so surely it would have been easy to make them officially available 😔.
Settlement building is completely non-addictive, and I could totally give up anytime I wanted… Sure I might have spent 650 of a 700 hour save file possibly just building settlements but that means nothing, could easily stop… anytime... Sorry, got to go... someone’s just marked something on my map… 😉🤣
I also have an question, do you know how to modify place everywhere mode so it always shows green? I am playing on xbox and downloaded the mod from the mods section in main menu
my man youre still posting, i recently got back into fallout 4 and settlement builds and i was excited to hopefully see you still posting, and my goodness you are !! yoire my biggest inspiration. never stop!
Nope, first time building here for the channel and for myself. Never really cared much for this place so had not touched it before in any of my playthroughs, although it’s starting to grow on me but that might just be the Stockholm Syndrome kicking in 😉🤣.
Finally getting around to binging these and welcome back! Great build 👍Love how that half wall piece siked you out at 11:33 lol Also, thoughts on Starfield? Think you'll do the same with it's outpost system?
Thanks! Great to hear you enjoyed it, and yes those warehouse pieces can be skittish little buggers at times 🤣. Trying to keep my expectations for Starfield in check but looking forward to trying it out and really hoping it’s going to be good. Not sure if I’ll be doing vids on the outpost system, guess it all depends on if it manages to get its hooks into me like F4’s settlement system.
@@FiddleflapsVids Yeah that's reasonable, if you did I wouldn't expect any vids anytime soon after release as I've heard outpost building is very endgame geared
My initial thought was: why all those concrete blocks? This is going to look boring … Well, I stand corrected. Also great what you did with the workshop area 👍
Lol, its nice to know even after you have been watching and commenting (much appreciated btw) on my vids for so long that I am still able to slightly pull the wool over your eyes… maybe I should do a concrete ‘box fort’ as an April Fools type build? 🤣 Although I have to confess when recording this I had the same thoughts as I was placing all those blocks. This section is really the centre of the build with the rest of the settlement branching off from and linking up to this point, so a lot of the blocks will be covered up by other structures.
Hey FF well I'm/I've (how ever you want to look at it) 😆 circled back to FO4 and was pondering the thought of doing a build in the Lair which would obviously require Automatron DLC only I have a problem, I don't think I'm going to have the time as Starfield is starting to rise in the near distance and I can just about see it. Another nice build only I see you're still using that Ugly ars Green Hud color. 🤓
Nice to see you around again, although the newish handle still confuses me a bit 😅. I totally get where you are coming from with Starfield, trying to keep my expectations in check but really hoping its going to be good. I generally wait a month or two before diving into any new Bethesda release to hopefully allow for most of the early major game breaking bugs to be found and fixed, so thought I had plenty of time to get this build all finished. Will probably save the game for a Christmas present to myself, that way I’ll be off work and have plenty of time to enjoy and hopefully lose myself in the game. Good luck if you do decide to build at the Mechanists Lair, I am sure you’ll make a great job of it. Must admit I have had a few small failed attempts to build there, sadly could never come up with something I was happy with.
@@FiddleflapsVids My old handle is a family name dating back generations, Blackie is short for Blackstock, my surname. I didn't really want to use it on here. I've been way late to all Bethesda games, they were all well established when I came in so I'm just going to take a chance on SF. I'm going to keep the lair pure robotic no humans and just play it by ear, that is when ever I get around to it. 😀
I've been busy building for the past several months building a Sim Rig The platform is from Trak Racer using high end Thrustmaster steering wheel and pedals with 3 42" OLED C monitors. I plan on taking the steering wheel off to play SF, I'm curious how it's going to play on triple monitors.
Are you going to build on the overpass above it? I’ve seen someone do that before but they had to make a pretty big clunky elevator. In the end they just got rid of it all.
Sorry, no plans to build up on the overpass. The large tower structure that would be needed to get up there really does not suit the style I like to build in, plus it would cause nightmares for the already slightly wonky settler AI pathing 😉🤣
I am indeed back 😁. As for what’s planned for this settlement you can check out the rough build I recently shared in the community tab. Barring some minor changes I usually stick pretty close to these initial designs, so this is how the finished settlement should look like - www.youtube.com/@FiddleflapsVids/community
Man, I would love to follow along to this. But every time I try to build in Graygarden I only get so far, then going into build mode just shuts FO4 right down. No BSOD. Just shuts down. I reinstalled the game and tried with no mods. Same thing. Has worked for years, with no issues, and then started recently. But only Graygarden. It's so odd.
That sucks to hear and also weird that it happens with no mods installed 🙁. I am guessing you have tried a clean save game with no mods installed? Due to this build series my load order has been pretty much locked in place for around 2 years and my game has luckily been really stable, although from time to time I have run into issues with certain areas crashing with the most recent being a settler quest in Far Harbor. In those cases I find travelling far away from the affected area and then waiting a couple of in game days seemed to fix the issue, so might be worth a try?
Nope. Still crashes. I tried reinstalling the entire game. COC'd right to Graygarden - was able to build a couple of small things and now it just goes boom. Ah well. Finch is fun to build to the bridge too. Will just do my thing there :)
I was building a giant wall around Sanctuary Hills with just wood and steel and my game fucking crashed. I didn't even get past the first mission. This happened 5 hours ago.
Yes, trying to keep my expectations in check but really looking forward to playing Starfield 😁. Recently built a new PC in anticipation as I felt my old system would not be up the task of running the game as well as I would like (plus I was well overdue an upgrade) and really looking forward to checking out the base and starship building systems. Only issue I have with any Bethesda game is that I force myself to wait 2-3 months after release before playing them. It’s a hard rule to follow (and one I might have to break) but its served me well in the past and typically allows me to avoid any game breaking bugs that tend to get patched after the initial release.
He is back ladies and gentlemen!
Thanks! Feels good to be back building again 😁👋
