6'10 at 12 without a brain tumor or disease is impossible, especially with his skills and frame. The tallest man in history was only 2 inches taller at 12 years old. HE IS NOT 12!
@@mda990 theres about 2800 people at least 7ft worldwide. not everyone is at the age of a professional athlete. wemby is 7ft 4 and still capable of moving normally. no you wont find a guy like wemby on random africa tour.
Might just be me but his shoulders looks pretty slump for a 12 y.o Usually shoulders indicate if someone still has growth spurt left in them And this kid shoulder almost looks like an adult, idk if he can grow another 4+inch
The problem with the age of these guys is that in the places they come from theres no birth certificate so they don't even know when they were born, when they arrive to here in Europe they enter to an adoption center where their age is calculated but they are maybe too old for someone to want adopt him so they say it's 5 or 6 years younger, then he is really 17 or 18, maybe older but in document is 12
Nice prospect, the only problem with this young prodigies is that they are pushed to much and to early into professional sport, and that means no life and no childhood, and they tend to get seriously injured very early in career, because they push to much to early, everyone being expecting from them only perfection and the best... It is always a question of longivity of such prospects, I seen already two our local prodigies that got crippling injury in age of 15-16, and never could after that play at professional level, and they were pushed very hard by surroundings from exactly that 12 years age to be next stars, and especially to play non-stop with categories older then them... And maybe if they had standard development with their own generation they would come to age 18-20 as fully developed players and leave some mark. Modern profesional sport is actually cruel and brutal to human body, and for too young, pshysically not yet fully developed youngsters, it is twice more cruel and brutal.
Great point. In one of my previous videos about AAU basketball in the USA, I mention an article about why there are more injuries in the NBA now than ever and being pushed to play too much too early is one of the main reasons. Because of this, guys reach their potential earlier, get injured more, thus we have load management in the NBA
@@AugustasSuliauskas Yea, in USA it is already system: exhaust them to early and to hard, even before they stop growing, pressuring them to "succeed or fail whole life" if they don't get to NBA... They practically play already on coledge professional basketball, being even payed for that...

@@TheNmitch2311 Hm, and than the best basketball player in the world is chubby kid that really started to train basketball seriously at 17... And you are in delussion about athletics, especially olympic disciplines. It is not evolution, it is just professionalising sport. 30 year ago, that was not profitable sports. People was working their daily jobs 8-10 jours, trained in their free time and compette when they could to get some results and enter national teams (when they might, but not always, get finance from the state to focus on their sport...). Today you have organizied selection from youngest age, by 16, you already have stable pool of athlets that could perform on olympic level. That is why you get better and better athlets. But again, there is a dark side of that system. For example, in top swimming competition you have 5-10 top swimmers per country, maybe 20 from bigger countries, and to get 10 such athlets in age 20, you had to work with 100-200 16-18 years old, and to get that 100-200, you had to work with 1000-2000 14-year old. And they have full professional training from age 14, and that mean life dedicated to discipline. Now you ask yourself what hapenned to that 1000-1999 people in generation that didn't become Fellps... And they trained as hard as him... Dedicating everything in life to that goal... and they were ditched somewhere in the process because of 0.02 seconds not good enough... It is litle less brutal in popular sports, because if you are not good enough for major top league, every country has lower leagues, where you can still earn some living just of sport, but it is still brutal for many kids when they dedicate everything in their youngest years and then come to the point they cannot enter professional sport...
😮😯😲 Oh my God.......6'10" at 12?? Ok, so if I do the math........This kid would have been my height....5'2" at age 4 or 5??? and I am currently 36, so he would have caught me in height and passed me up by the time I was 29??? Holy crap!!!! LOL!!!!! I just literally feel an inch tall now.

Why would we need to talk about 12 years old boy? Only God knows how many extraordinary talents at age of 12 achieved nothing later in their lives. Greatest talent someone can have is good work ethics. Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration - Thomas Edison
Becuase it is fun, people want to hear about it, And unlike adult sports, there is something nice about following a teenager, because usually 99.9% of the fans cheer for him and want to see him make it.
This reminds me of that movie where the guy hands the piece of paper with his face on it and the writing says "I am twelve" despite clearly being a grown man. This kid is NOT 12.
What casts doubt on his age is not so much his size as his mobility and athleticism. But his face looks young - 16 years old max And even if he is indeed 16 years old he would still be phenomenal for his age. -I have a question : in this video, what is the height of the baskets? Is it 3.05m?
Yeah, 12... yeah sure. Later when, with 30 years his career is almost over as he were mostly retired, you may start to think that maybe he is not 30 but 40.
He is obviously not 12, he is likely 14-15, possibly even 16. Happens all the time. It just means they retire at 32-35 instead of trying to play to "40."
Didn’t commentators at the Adidas Global Next Up competition say that Dabone isn’t actually sure how old he is and said it could be a range of 12-16, so they officially classified him as 16 just to be safe?
I don't think he's 12 years old but it's in Barcelona's best interest to say he's that age so that it takes longer to be drafted and he plays more time with them.

He cannot be the next big thing in basketball, you forget this height is not normal for his age and it will continue to increase ,is almost certain he will have structure and health problems .If you see the history of such humans with extreme height ,they end up their career pretty young, its all about physics all about gravity and i believe Wembanyama will have the same health problems like others
@@jackbombay1423 I dont know the future ,is about chances ,very tall players have weaknesses mainly in the knees ,specially the body type of tall/skinny players
@@BloodSynthetic You weren´t talking about chances in your OC. You said you were CERTAIN and that this guy CANNOT be the next big thing. So, make up your mind, because there was no chance in those statements. And by the way, you JUST DON´T KNOW what you are talking about. Every person in the NBA is an extreme height person. Just 1% of the population is above 6'7''. And many 7ft or more have played many seasons in the NBA: Shaq, KD, KG, Pau Gasol, Wilt, Manute Bol, Marc Gasol, Mark Eaton, Rik Smits and the list goes on and on. And they were from many different sizes and frames. So being skinny is no less dangerous than being overbuilt. Some people are more injury prone than other and the reasons remain unknown so far. The medical care, sport science, training methods, nutrition and so are always updating in the pro sports field so maybe, MAYBE, by the time this kid hits the pro level people his height are taken care better than ever. Years ago an ACL was career ending or the torn of the achilles but nowadays, players can recover from that and keep playing. YOU JUST DON´T KNOW.
Bruh the current Wembanyama just got here, we don't even know fully wwht he's capable of yet, let's let him establish himself before we already start calling people the next wemby lol
As Carl Sagan said: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". "Passport checking out" is not going to cut it I'm afraid. While some kids mature a bit earlier, I've never seen anyone that size move or play like that at 12 - not even close. I would not be surprised if he's actually 18. I would love it if he was actually 12 or 13, it would be super interesting to track his progress. But fantasy is one thing, reality quite another.
There are still many places, particularly in Africa, where there are no official administrative registers for births. This means that many people do not know exactly when they were born and that they are subsequently given estimated dates of birth... sometimes effectively with the aim of allowing them to join sports training centers by making them pass themselves off as prodigies younger than their real age (and therefore further ahead of others of the same age). For Dabone, if within 3 years he will have finished growing, the problem will be resolved.
IF he ends up growing to be 7'4 or taller and he's a high level player mobile player in the NBA 6 or 7 years from now, it would make a good rivalry with Victor
Age doesn't really matter in the NBA. It actually can be disadvantage. Because now you have 25 year old prime player and he's actually 30 already. This kid could be good 😮

Love how they go from "the next Jordan" to "the next LeBron" and now "the next Wemby" time really flies when wemby is put at the same level as LeBron and Jordan
problem with tall kids like this they force them to learn basic big man technique instead of guard play. he should be bringing the ball up court instead of just getting the ball and dunking on kids a foot shorter than him.
Usually doesn't work that way. Olivier rioux was 6'10 at 12 and ended up at 7'6 and this guy looks way more physically developed than Olivier so probably can be around Victors height but if he does become near an 8 footer, he would lose a lot of mobility
Wow ... my 1st thought is, "no way" and my 2nd is I hope he has good doctors. I've never heard of a 12-year old that tall. He will have a growth spurt at age 15-22 and could go over 8 foot tall. This becomes a medical problem and one might suggest he do aquatics therapy or lap swimming to keep limber and muscular.
Yeah no. Buddy has GOT to be like 15/16. Doesn’t matter at the end of the day if the goal is to go pro. But if his ceiling is just dunking on a whole bunch of kids/teens I’m not too impressed
lets be realistic here. he s only 12 years on his passport. unfortunately, as it is proven in football over and over again, players actually benefit from this kind of age scams. Some clubs will be willing to take the risk. unfortunately these teen prodigys born in 3rd world countries rarely get any better once they reach official adulthood.

even if he's not 12 and turned to be 14 or 16 he's gonna compete against grown adults anyway.
He is probably 16 or so.
I was shocked when I saw that first highlight😳
Hard to Believe he is 12, if he is legit 12 year old, he should go on to be an all time great NBA player if coached right.
Many folks in this forum are saying no way based on WHAT THEY HAVE SEEN now, and, in the past. Athletes back in the day can't compete with modern day athletes. look at basketball, kids leaping way above the rim and doing dunks you never SEEN BEFORE and compared from back in the day. Remember Vince Carter dunk contest in 2000? did Jordan or Dominique do anything remotely like Vince did in 2000? and no less then 5 years later, young kids are now doing his between the leg dunk with ease and won't win you a dunk contest for that matter. This kid here, although doing things we never seen as 12 year old, peoples are basing their judgment on THEY NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. Now, you think this is amazing, wait until you see what a 10 year old is going to do maybe 20 to 30 years from now, and Guess what?, most of us won't be around to see this human wonder of evolution.
Broo this happens in Puerto Rico all the time, kids claim to be 12 while being 16-17.. This is no surprise...
6'10 at 12 without a brain tumor or disease is impossible, especially with his skills and frame. The tallest man in history was only 2 inches taller at 12 years old. HE IS NOT 12!

And this kid shoulder almost looks like an adult, idk if he can grow another 4+inch
He ain't twelve, he is most likely 16. Still crazy, but not twelve.
The problem with the age of these guys is that in the places they come from theres no birth certificate so they don't even know when they were born, when they arrive to here in Europe they enter to an adoption center where their age is calculated but they are maybe too old for someone to want adopt him so they say it's 5 or 6 years younger, then he is really 17 or 18, maybe older but in document is 12
Definite future NBA legend

It is litle less brutal in popular sports, because if you are not good enough for major top league, every country has lower leagues, where you can still earn some living just of sport, but it is still brutal for many kids when they dedicate everything in their youngest years and then come to the point they cannot enter professional sport...
if he is born in Africa and came to Spain after 7 years old then he is really 17 years old

What casts doubt on his age is not so much his size as his mobility and athleticism.
But his face looks young - 16 years old max

Can you tell me the numbers on the next powerball since you seem to know the future?
He may have just gone through puberty a lot earlier than most. His current height and weight doesn't mean he is going to be over 8 feet tall.

But fantasy is one thing, reality quite another.
how many people from Africa have put fake age in past? he is 16 actualy for sure
He's somewhere between 16 and 19.
He more athletic and can handle his body the only thing Wemby has its his work ethic to move like that i hope this kid has the same vision
who currently dont know who the previous wembanyama is...
Wembanyama isn't even a top 25 player yet and not even a star and people are already talking about the next Wemby
I think he can go to nba now as a 12 year old and be a beast 💪🤣
IF he ends up growing to be 7'4 or taller and he's a high level player mobile player in the NBA 6 or 7 years from now, it would make a good rivalry with Victor
He is 12 with some years of experience
He’s practically doing the same thing i do with my kids when they ask me how old i am. 37 but i tell em im 27, no difference.
Age doesn't really matter in the NBA. It actually can be disadvantage. Because now you have 25 year old prime player and he's actually 30 already. This kid could be good 😮

lets be realistic here. he s only 12 years on his passport. unfortunately, as it is proven in football over and over again, players actually benefit from this kind of age scams.
