  • Here are 5 basketball players who are actually TOO big for the NBA. Bigger than Yao Ming, bigger than Boban, even bigger than Tacko Fall. In fact, every player on this list would've been the tallest player in NBA history if they had made it.

Usually they can’t stay healthy, can’t move fast enough, or just can’t have enough energy. Height helps until it hurts.

A lot of that has to do with gigantism. No human in history has been naturally taller than 7'9, and most natural giants never get above 7'6. People who are naturally tall have less health problems overall because they're supposed to be that tall, not forced by a pathological condition to be tall. You can always tell by bodily and facial proportions whether someone's height is natural or pathological, and it's the latter that will always have more problems holding them back in terms of health and athleticism. The tallest player we'll likely ever see in the NBA for a meaningful amount of time we'll most certainly be 7'8 or 7'9, never taller.

He trained in Canada but was not able to play in the USA because of his ties to North Korea which is in conflict with the USA. How about Manute Bol, 7'7". He had a respectable career from 85 through 93, and then played a few games each season until 95. The man was a beast in the paint, blocking shots from Kareem to Karl Malone. He didn't have the skill of Ralph Sampson, but he gave everything he had and was a decent 3 point shooter as well. It's a shame he couldn't put on any weight no matter what he ate. Tragically dying well before his time. But he was fun to watch.

He don’t know what he’s talking about in this video. Coach K has been at Duke BlueDevils since 1980 this is his retirement year 2022 with a 39 year coaching career.
From 2000-2002 UNC Coach was Matt Doherty former UNC player went to the NBA and came back after NBA and tried his hand at coaching on a 6 year contract. He only done 3 of the 6 years & Left before his contract was up. Doherty was a great player be he was a horrible Coach. Had almost as many losses as he did wins in his 3 years there. Players couldn’t stand him he was always feuding and fighting with players and other coaches! Thank God Roy Williams came along and took his place because he wasn’t much of a Coach. Some people can play the game but just have no patience to coach the game and he was one of them people.

At times, he was like a 7-5 point guard who could bring the ball up the court and run the offense. Kenny George was 7'7 in his stocking feet, so inflating his already freakish height is unnecessary...but he couldn't play a lick. He had the mobility of a crippled tortoise, couldn't box out, couldn't run nor rebound. So...where is the surprise part on why didn't make it to the NBA?

"Altitude has consequences." Notice the common factor of injuries? Massive size doesn't equate to larger organs necessary to service a larger need and heart failure is but one of the issues these "fragile giants" have to face. Sports place extreme physical stress on a body already stressed by nature and not a wise choice for the truly "big & tall."
