This video discusses the notion of alcohol illustrated in the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning film “Another Round” (“Druk”), directed by Thomas Vinterberg and starring Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, and Lars Ranthe. Alcohol represents the bridge between excitement and alcoholism, but how do we recognise the side of the bridge we’re approaching? More about that in the video.

Thank you for an insightful analysis of both the film and also overall briefly the topic of alcoholism.
I like that the film is like a observer on the middle ground. It doesn't glorify alcoholism, but also doesn't outright wave it's finger at you "No no alcohol is bad". It gjve's you insight into both and let's you decide. More over it shows that alcohol is like a blade, a rather wild blade, it can be used to cut through an obsticale on the road of life, but one must use it very delicately. Get too cocky and it will start cutting through you.
I would draw up an analogy of a blindfold.
You stand before a bridge. It's long, shaky and no matter how much you try to give yourself a pep talk or push yourself to cross it, you simply can't do it. Then a friend or you yourself come to an idea to use a blindfold to get the bridges ominous look out of sight. You do it and after some shaky steps you are on the other side.
In that moment the importance lays in what you take away from it, what's the conclusion.
And that is where I think Tommy's and Martin's characters differences come in:
Martin's character would think (and as we also see in the film) "The bridge was never that scary, I just needed a little push"
    VS
Tommy's character would conclude "This is how I can cross the bridge, I just need to blindfold myself everytime"

Love that analogy. And unfortunately, to Tommy's demise, he blindfolded himself so many times that he would eventually become blind himself.

So, you're implying that if we're not capable of being reasonable alcoholics, then we're from the Middle Ages, right? :D Just kiddin', the review is awesome! I'm waiting for another one. Or another round. :D
