What can I substitute for the cornstarch. I am new to gluten free and it is very expensive to trial and error and never use an ingredient again. My other half is allergic to corn.

I just made these today to have for thanksGiving.
This is one of the best rolls I have ever had. You will never be able to tell the difference between these and regular rolls.
They are incredibly tasty, made the house smell beautiful, and would be great to use for leftover turkey sandwiches.
I used an Ice cream scoop and sprayed it with Pam to scoop out the dough. They raised well in a warm oven, and came out golden brown, NOT dry, and are so tasty.
Thank you for this video! This will be my go to recipe from now on.

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! I have to admit that I was very sceptical of this recipe because I had tried others in the past that claimed to be the "perfect" recipe and they left me disappointed. However, I followed your instructions to the T and I was able to bake delicious, flavorful, soft, chewy, rolls for my family and no one could tell they were gluten free! I will he sharing your recipe and page with everyone I know and recommend they try your other recipes too. Thanks again so much! You are a lifesaver. 🥰
To anyone on the fence about trying this, do it and you'll be very happily amazed at how good these are.

You just rocked my world! I made the regular rolls version from your web site and They are great! Thank you! I substituted the flowers and cornstarch and just used King Arthur gluten-free flour blend. I did have to add a touch more water. I go through almost 1 and 1/2 loaves of store-bought gluten-free bread by myself each week and it can be expensive. I'm so happy!

Same has happened with Bob's Red Mill GF. Brand new and not dates weren't expired. Any advice is appreciated.

Love these herb dinner rolls which turned out great. Before finding your website, I didn’t think dinner rolls would ever be apart of my life again. I used my GF flour mixture instead of the flours you’ve mentioned and had too much flour volume for the amount of liquids. Is it possible the combined volume of your flours would be less than the 3 & 1/3 cups of a single flour mixture? Thank you!

I used King Arthur's AP flour (can use Pillsbury, etc) & had to add extra water (1/4 or so, did not measure) to look like video of her regular gf rolls. My daughter-in-law (celiac) loves them & my husband & son (gluten full) loves them too. I-ve finally succeeded in making soft, fluffy gf yeast rolls. Thank you GlutenFreeHabit! I LOVE Herbs, cheese & garlic! Will definitely make these....YUMMY TO OUR TUMMIES!

Thank you for this recipe, no kidding, my mouth watered when you pulled that roll apart. I got the diagnosis of Celiac last August, when I turned 60. Haven't found a good bread since then. This will be my next baking experiment, lol. Thanks again, God bless.

These rolls look good and I am looking for gluten free recipes but I am concerned about Xanthum gum. Xanthan gum is safe when up to 15 grams per day are taken. It can cause some side effects such as intestinal gas (flatulence) and bloating. People who are exposed to xanthan gum powder might experience flu-like symptoms, nose and throat irritation, and lung problems.

Tried the recipe, ditched the xantham gum for an extra egg and due to that, had to add some more flour but boy it was delicious. I personally loved the taste it was very good and the rise was awesome for gluten free. My girlfriend said she would of liked more spice, but she's a spice lady and that is easy to fix. Thanks for recipe!

  • @snowblo1

Well this definitely looks easy enough. I have all of the ingredients on hand with the exception of the yeast, as soon as I get some I will be rushing to make these.
I've been GF for a year now. I have yet to make homemade bread or rolls, so this will be my 1st. I'm just hoping that the brown rice flour that's used isn't overpowering. That's the thing I hate about being gluten free. It's like you can tell just by the product baking that some type of rice flour was used. But these rolls looked doughy, fluffy and delicious.
I've been using the Schar brand ciabatta type rolls & they're okay, but I just eat them because there really isn't nothing else.
    Anyhow thanks for the upload.

    This recipe seems amazing.
Please do advise if we don't have Parmesan then what do we add instead. Or can we omit it in the recipe?
    Please do reply

not to be that nerd, but corn is technically a grain, and a lot of people who can't eat gluten probably shouldn't eat corn either. i know cornstarch in particular is basically necessary to give the dough its body-- can anyone recommend an effective substitute for that?

The problematic gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye, triticale, and anything cross-contaminated with these (like many oats). Corn contains a different form of gluten, which is usually not an issue for people with celiac disease. An article by the Mayo Clinic states that corn can safely be included in a gluten free diet. Of course, for anyone who reacts negatively to it, it would be smart to discuss it with a medical professional. Although I haven't tested other subs for the cornstarch, you might try potato starch. Hope you enjoy the rolls!

If you don't want to use cornstarch, you can use Arrowroot instead. Bob's Red Mill makes it.
