Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

Guessing those snapper were before the closure? Great demonstration of those lures working, I do sometimes wonder how well they'd go for us that don't have the whitsundays on our doorsteps haha. Awesome release on the jewie at the end, looks like it swam off better than that first china.
btw not sure what those spots are, I know on some stocked fish like salmon they modify their genes so they have a massive spot on their gill to show that they're stocked, but its nothing random like on the trouties there

Insane catch at the end, what a fight
Great video, and well done for the catch and releases. Just one question. If I were rigging these lures, my first instinct would be to rig them the other way round. The hook would go in thru the head and come up thru the back. This would have these possible benefits:
- the curly tail would flutter more on the drop
- I'm guessing that fish would attack the lure from the curly tail end, so the hook would go into the fish's mouth without being caught on the fish's outer lips
Having said that, your hookup rait was great, and the range and size of fish you caught was impressive.
Feel free to rip into me, I will enjoy seeing a debate.
Hey Geoff, thanks for the kind words.
In terms of rigging, they are designed to be rigged that way as to imitate a fleeing prawn/shrimp as they dart backwards when fleeing. With the tail, it’s designed with the same idea in mind, works much better rigged this way and imitates the legs/tail of a shrimp kicking back towards its head as if it was fleeing. I’m sure they would still work rigged the way you are saying but for the designed action and imitation it’s best the way I have it.

What size/weight jig head are you using
Hey mate, 2/0 or 3/0 hook and the jig head weight was constantly varying due to changing depths throughout the day.

Hey Bowly great vid and awesome fish, but just an FYI at that size 95% of black jewfish over about 10kg die from barotrauma within 24hrs, even if they kick off and manage to get themselves down. You can see it had its stomach in its mouth and inability to properly right itself while trying to swim down, most of the time they die from the damage to their internal organs from the swim bladder expansion and build up of metabolites in the blood during a fight. Not trying to troll or talk shit, just some info for next time that if there's any signs of barotrauma or organs pushing out you're better off just keeping the fish. Keep up the great content.

hey bowls, any chance you could do a video of schooled up barra. so showing us when you find them and then where you position your boat with spot lock and where abouts you are casting for them. im always finding stacks of them on my sounder but cant work out where to position my boat to have a crack at them.

If you listen you to what I was saying at the beginning of the video, the snapper fishing was back in Brisbane a couple months ago. I did not have a net then, I purchase one shortly after I filmed that footage before I went out for this day 👍🏼
