We call these Yabbies/Nippers in Australia, fantastic bait and catch a very large range of fish. They live on inshore beaches here in big colonies of thousands/tens of thousands (groups of holes all together), they're orange/pinkish here. Most bait shops here sell those pumps but its pretty cool you made your own
Out here in South Africa we call em sand prawns. Excellent bait. If you can build a handle on the pump to give you more leverage, it would make it way easier to use. It's pretty common to get many from one hole, as there is a network of channels in the sand.
Hey bro, I really hope that you and your girl are staying safe through Idalia. Y'all are extremely exposed to those high winds in your RV. My entire immediate family lives down there around central Florida, and while I've been through it multiple times when I lived there, I always get concerned for them.
Be safe Mike getting caught in a hurricane is no joke, I was in a few in Hawaii. Anyways again be safe out there and have a blessed day. Aloha from Kansas
I was just thinking about you and your wife this morning while seeing the news about the Hurricane. I hope you guys are safe and that your STATIC Seasoning stays dry.
You need to push down hard into the sand with the pump and pull the pump up fast. Even in wet sand, it should come up as a long collum of sand. You need a better seal or you're not pulling up fast enough. You should be getting at least 10 shrimp per pull.
I love your channel! :D I’m kinda disappointed how you’re kinda underrated ☹️ you just make me forget about all my stress and worries 😀 keep up the great work! - your #1 fan, Goose The Cat
We have them here in Australia we call them pink nippers and the trick to getting theses is to find a group of holes together and u need to pump faster you can get four yabbies out of a few holes and the pump u built it needs a handle on the side of the pump
Watching from north Wilmington De. To feel the small bites/nibbles. Hold on to the line with your right pointer finger. Keep slight tension on the line.
We call them bait pumps in the uk and they’re normally welded stainless steel and retail for around £75. Used for pumping black lugworm which I think you call bloodworms. You need a handle on the shaft too btw.
Ok I'm saying this because I'm really early, stay safe tomorrow, as a Floridian there's nothing to worry about, the east side is relatively safe so don't freak out, there's nothing to worry about except for rain and high winds but it's nothing to bad, stay safe ❤
Like watching your videos. Stay safe! We are from Missouri and we have 2 girls in college in Florida. We have a rooftop tent on my truck and love beach fishing. I built a beach cart from an aluminum cargo carrier from harbor freight and put bonnolo beach wheels on it. It travels on my hitch well and works great in the sand. Keep up the videos and stay safe!
Stay safe! Fishing will be killer after the hurricane passes through. Weirdest bait was probably ghost shrimp for me in California two weeks ago. They sell those everywhere live.
I use the Angler’s Fishing Mate cart. It’s a 2 wheel, works well for me. Be safe this week with the storm and Static on grilled shrimp is amazing!!! Thanks for everything.
dope ass vid bro... keep up the ghost hunting, think of what you can do to improve your DIY pump.. i got 3 of these, awesome exp!! get out on the water more, lets see some rad catches!!
Nice catch Alex. I’ve had some success Texas-rigging a Zman and it fishes pretty much the same and stands up off the bottom the same as the mushroom head jig but with the benefits of weedless I fish it in heavy cover even on light line. I’ve lost only a very few that got wrapped up around wood most of the time I can work them out of there with patience. Hope that helps.
hey i hope you and your girlfriend stay safe in florida and i love your channel. i’ve been watching since quarantine but just subbed bc i was never signed in :/ stay safe ❤
Tips - Don't put the PVC cement on both surfaces, it's just a waste ( the instructions tell you this) . You only need it on one surface. Before you cement anything fit it all up to make sore everything fits and is going to work.
After hearing you talk about your fishing cart idea...it made me think 🤔...you should just get a wagon with the really big pneumatic tires that can (hopefully) handle the sand. And then tow it behind your electric bike. Maybe you will be able to just take your bike seatpost off the bike, add some pipe insulation to the handle of the wagon. Put the wagon handle over the seat post receiver end, where your seatpost slips into the bike. And then just put your seat post back in and that should attach the wagon to your Bike so you can tow it behind the bike. I think the issue will be, that you will need extra padding on the sides of the wagon handle so it can't move left to right as much.
Tip - get a real pump and push hard downwards while pulling the handle up also hard and fast Do this 2-4 times you with for sure get them! Btw love your vids, I live in Australia and we call them yabbys, you can get a lot more if you go out to the mangroves and get them as well. Anyway stay safe yall!😅❤
Hey there! Just a little tip: if you want your sand sucker tool to stay together and be bonded together, I would use pvc cleaner, primer and the glue on, both, the male and female ends you connect together! Otherwise I’d worry about the pressure combined with saltwater, dissolving those connections you have there
Hi buddy welcome to South Africans way of making bait and our main way of fishing in South Africa and what we are used to, we have metal pumps with handles for leverage also the edge of water is best and they lay deep down almost the entire pump down in the sand
U should try make a handle for the pump and don't just look for one whole look mor multiple holes grouped together and if u pump a few small ones the pump a bit deeper bigger ones will come And if pumping them on the sand and none come go a few inches in the water and pump it will work
Ya gotta pump faster and here in Australia there called yabbies instead of ghost shrimps you gotta look for a group of holes and they only survive in water so maybe use a bucket with water in it next time and also you gotta stick the hook up it’s bum not being weird to it’s guts aka the orange stuff on its belly ❤😊
You should use mackerel feathers off the beach It represents sand ale and is very good for Spanish mackerel I’ve seen you use them on the pair on one of your vids and I thinking he should use them off the pair how you use them. Throw the feathers out really far and then reel them back in but give a tugging movement 😎 it will definitely work at night I catch mackerel all the time in the uk.😇👍
To keep bait on you while either gathering bait or while fishing, take a plastic milk jug and cut the top part off opposite the handle. Slip your belt thru the handle and you have the cheapest bait carrier or tackle carrier around.
What's the weirdest fishing bait you've ever used?? 🤔🎣 Stay safe out there yall!
Hotdogs
A senko
Bacon and sandwich meat. I was at little Tal the other day, same spot
Beef jerky it gummies lol
Crawfish tails

After learning what a prawn is to you, I will never eat shrimp again.
SA anglers also mistakenly call it a pink prawn.
It makes for excellent bait for spotted grunters!
In australia we call em nippers
I call em slipper worms
Good
Beautiful scenery of approaching storm! Drive 90 degrees to storm path and get out of its way.

would be interesting to see a video of you fishing with ghost shrimp and regular shrimp and see which catches the most

I’ve always wondered what were in those holes, never knew they could be used for bait😂

That pump you built needs a handle that should be on the side of the pump , make sure the handle has no open ends or it will leak air !

In South Africa we also call them blood worms and then the other bait we call sand prawns.
Good stuff my brother should try putting a handle on the side to push it down deeper when you pump

In Australia we call them salt water yabbies. They don’t get real big here but they definitely do the trick!
We also call what he made yabbie pumpers

I wish I could actually catch ghost shrimp
your supposed to get them at the peak of a low or high tides and cast them into the waves. in australia they work really well for whiting and bream
Fun Fact…In Michigan Black sand is magnetic…black sand usually has gold close by….

Just started watching when you said hole ghost shrimp baby just make sure you tie it well with mini strings
When first state is better at DIY than filleting fish 😂😂 love u first state!
I used spearmint gum caught a few before the flavor was gone haha
I was in the keys a couple years ago and I spit my gum into the water and a sheephead just devoured it

Dude, put a handle on it for your left hand. Less wrist pain. Look at Yabby Pumps in Australia!
I’m Aussie as well and I can prove it’s called yabbie pumps and we use them for yabbies in sand or anything
dope ass vid bro... keep up the ghost hunting, think of what you can do to improve your DIY pump.. i got 3 of these, awesome exp!! get out on the water more, lets see some rad catches!!
I praise the Lord that you’ll be A good TH-camr everybody will be subscribing everybody will be liking
You have to be quick with the pump. As soon as the shrimp feel you around there burrow, they start digging. Fast pumps does the trick
Dude a post hole digger turns sand way faster, cheaper and more effective for the results you're looking for. You're welcome.
"Ghost shrimp" is such a badass name
7:45 💀
Yoooooooo
caught a few yabbies there, never heard of ghost shrimp
Where I live we have a beach called "the sand bar" take your sand dollar there and see if you can get a sec on the beach😂

I see you're going after the ghost shrimp

Fun fact, if you were to just pour a bunch of salt on top of them, they would all come out
Why do they never come out then
But.. they live in the beach… where SALTWATER fills their holes. How does that work??
We use them all the time for surf perch and other jetty fish in Oregon
Here in Australia we call them yabbies and what you made is a yabby pump
I hope u stay safe during the storm it is going to pass us to but I heard it is going to hit Florida bad
Tip you want the holes to be bubbling for an easier catch
They’re call yabbies
In my beach it has bigger holes and never knew they has bait in em!
sand crabs
Yeah that type of bait in Australia we call them “Yabi’s” and we call the pump a “Yabi pump”
You should use mackerel feathers off the beach

We call them yabbies in Australia. I ate one live when I was a kid because someone convinced me you could 😅
Good luck were hunkered down here in SC
Where im from those are called yabbies there the best bait in Australia
In aus we do it in the shallow water on sandy muddy banks and get massive ones also in creek beds ands what not not in the surf

Un flavored dental floss works to tie bait it's cheap and easy to pack.
