      If I may point something out: The Eypnychium is not the loose skin that is on the nail bed, it is the SURFACE of the Nail itself....the stuff that is attached to the Nail Plate is just loose, dead skin....

    Something I've noticed about cheap salons in Australia, they soak your hands when they should be giving a dry manicure. Eg CND Shellac, you're supposed to give a dry manicure first not have the client soak their nails.

    This is great. So nice to see someone who isnt skin clipper crazy. At the nail salon, Im always telling the girl dont cut my skin. But they r rushing and cut everything along with the cuticle. Even the skin around the nail! They constantly cut the skin anyway and then I get up and leave angry as hell Its so frustrating bc. in a couple of days the skin peels back and I have to clip them off.

    • @nok2521
      @nok2521 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are my kind of client. I am not the happy nipper. I am the only one the don't cut the Eponychium (which they claim that was cuticle)

      Yes, I totally agree. They’re always rushing and half doing stuff. I’m like, I’m paying you to do this, so please do it 🤷🏽‍♀️

  • @claudiahernandez4470
    @claudiahernandez4470 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’ve used your exact steps and my gel manicures have lasted weeks! Thank you! One question, if you need to use cuticle softener in the first step when you’re pushing back, I assume you wash that offs first and then come back and buffer on dry nails? Then wash again?

    • @LuxaPolish
      @LuxaPolish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Claudia Hernandez Hi! So happy to hear this has helped!! I would steer away from any cuticle softener before gel application as it can change the ph level of the nail plate and if not cleaned out extremely well before gel application it can cause adhesion issues.
      If you opt to use a cuticle softener just be sure the client scrubs their nail plates very meticulously with soapy water and a scrub brush to get into the lateral folds and cuticle. Have a great day! -Leah

  • @witchsmummy4884
    @witchsmummy4884 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So in other words the Eponychium is the skin you are pushing back and the cuticle is the white stuff left behind when you pushed back the Eponychium thats on the nail plate?

    I was recently taught that when filing the nail do not keep filing back and forward you are wearing the nail surface down, always file in one direction, this was what I was taught anyway and all nail technicians that I have seen do this and nipping was done before cuticle work. jean

    • @betterfasterstranger
      @betterfasterstranger 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Maher Glam Jean's comment was about wearing the nail down, which implies she's concerned about weakening the nail, she doesn't mention jagged edges but again those issues are caused by pressure and grit, not direction.

    I'm just a nail polish hobbiest, but I find your videos so informative :) I usually oil up my cuticles before I push them back...is there a reason why you do it dry? I also do a cuticle remover every other week or so...is this bad? Does it matter? Is there a reason why you don't use this? Sorry for all the questions, just curious about how other people do things :)

    • @LuxaPolish
      @LuxaPolish  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Katie Shephard I NEVER use cuticle oil before I polish or do any enhancement as the oil can stay on the nail plate and your polish or whatever you put on will not stay on. I prefer not to use a cuticle remover because I've found if it is not removed all the way it can cause issues just like the cuticle oil. I don't think it's bad to use a cuticle remover once a week but using a cuticle oil daily will hydrate your nail and the surrounding tissue keeping you from getting hard cuticles and hang nails. Hope that helps :)

    Omg I use cuticle remover and I normally don’t tell my clients To wash their hands after, just because I file their nails and prep after I’ve applied so. But do u think it could be a reason for nails popping off / lifting or not adhering properly? If the client doesn’t thoroughly wash their hands after having cuticle remover??? pls respond! Thank you so much

    • @LuxaPolish
      @LuxaPolish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! More than likely that could be the main reason your enhancements are not properly adhering to the natural nail. Have your clients thoroughly scrub their nails with soap and water.

    • @LuxaPolish
      @LuxaPolish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Sherry Tanmas remember cuticle is dead skin. If your nervous about nipping try this....before clamping all the way down with the nipper ask your client if that pinches or feels uncomfortable at all...if it doesn't than its safe to clamp all the way down. Hope that helps

    This is odd, but I appreciate the simplicity of using another fake nail to simply push back the cuticles. Although it does not cost an arm and a leg to purchase simple tools I am always for why not use what you already have at home?! Lol. I’m also curious to know if you can use eyebrow scissors to trim excess cuticles? And any other house items that could be used would be appreciated ☺️

      25 mins. You have to soak their fingers in warm water to soften the cuticles so it might take even longer

  • @seydamazing5832
    @seydamazing5832 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don’t add cuticle softener and soak in water for no chip manicures?

    • @LuxaPolish
      @LuxaPolish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! For a regular manicure I would. With any enhancement you have a higher chance of the cuticle softener getting trapped in the sidewalls and Epohyichium which will cause your enhancements to lift even when you cleanse the natural nail.

    Hi there friend!
    I am new to nail art & to be honest I don't understand what I am doing wrong
    Recently 2 of my best friends clients had some tips fallen (& it's not even been one week that I made them)
    😔😔
    Please help: it's because the quality tips, or quality glue? Or is it because I glue the tips in the middle of nail bed (even highter), of course not touching the cuticule!
    It's confusing, some TH-cam videos shows the tips glued at the end of the natural nail & some in the middle of nail bed (even higher)
    Suggest me something, it's obvious that I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG 😩😩😭

    You aren’t supposed to do a seasaw motion on natural nails

    you shouldn't touch her nails with your thumb because you trying to get rid the oils and you are getting them back with yours...

      +Demi Cat Thats why I cleanse the nails after all that ;)

      +LuxaPolish I touch the nails with my thumbs to make sure the nail is smooth. I always have a clean and smooth application then cleanse the heck out of the nail (you always have to cleanse the nail prior to based coat application) with no lifting issues. But Do what works best for you. :)

    Well I can use it on my self, but not on my clients I'm afraid of cutting them😕. lol

      +Tina Marie Howe I know the feeling! Just keep practicing. One thing I say to my clients is right when I'm squeezing with my nippers before I squeeze all the way....I'll pause and ask them if this hurts at all. If it doesn't then I squeeze all the way ;) Hope this helps :)

    Lol all the people here bitching about filing and cuticle shit. Yet her client keeps coming back and is obviously happy. Like sure she wouldn't if she were jacking her nails up.
    Remember, not everything you learn in school right or true. Think back to elementary/middle/high school. Can't you ever think of a teachers were wrong.
    Plus why even bitch. Stay on your lane and keep doing what you do and leave this girl who's trying to help people alone xD

    What wrong with using cuticle remover ?

    • @LuxaPolish
      @LuxaPolish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SANRIO FAN Hi! Nothing is wrong with using cuticle remover as long as you have your clients thoroughly was their hands after and you cleanse the nail really well before your application. If the remover isn't completely removed you will get issues with your gel, acrylic etc not sticking to the nail. I mainly do dry mani prep in most of my clients before a service. I only use cuticle remover if my clients have really touch cuticles. Hope this helps some.
