I just bought the exact boot and a cone. Did the job perfect, only I did clean out the cv joint and refill with fresh grease. Good video, so much easier and quicker than removing the whole shaft.
Neighbour asked for a hand yesterday.. transit 2012.. cv joint would not separate so we had to stretch the boot which was a pain to do! He too knocked out inner joint out of place but I somehow managed to knock it back in touch.
Had both N/S & O/S outer CV Boots changed on Transit Custom (17). O/S leaked grease all over callipers & wheel after one month & 150 miles.😢 Currently being refitted under warranty... but they can't get the new ones to seal!

hi, how did u get the other side back in the joint? thanks
I removed the the whole shaft assembly and did on the bench. You need to slide back the inner boot and slide it out of the gearbox.
Would it not have been easier to remove the CV joint?
You could've cleaned it while it was apart and lubed it up with new grease.
Well done, changed a cv joint here in Dublin, Transit Custom 2014. will not separate, factory sealed. angle grinder.
Your probably most definitely correct. I wasn’t planning on the inner joint coming out so was just keen to get the whole shaft back in place.

I guess I could of but time wasn’t on my side. I did however repack both with fresh grease. Thanks.

Wow that’s disgusting. Clearly something is misshaped preventing the seal.
Just as easy to split the joint bud, this is a good idea in theory but …. Good vid tho…
Good luck doing that on a mk8 transit drive shaft
Exactly 😂
Cable ties poor !😂😂😂😂
It’s now Christmas 2024 and still working fine. Thanks.
Lasted 3 years so far 😂
Cowboy... zip-ties lol
Get over it. Ps they are still fitted fine. And excepted at all mot stations
It’s been almost a year and 26,000 miles. Zip ties still good 😂
