Dr. Gundry, you do not have an idea of how much you have helped me! I do not get tired of saying thanks to you. I follow your lectins free diet, very happy with it, and my body is healthier and happier than before I found you. You are the best!
Dr. Gundry, thank you for another interesting issue. I have some questions, please answer: 1. If a person has an enlarged thyroid gland, are cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower) not dangerous? 2. Chard: I read that it contains a lot of potassium and folic acid, and if there is a lot there will be thick blood, platelets and an increase in cholesterol levels. What do you say about the chard?
You are simply the BEST Dr G!!!! I finally became a patient of yours and your Physician’s Assistant, Mitsu, guided me through my blood work with a fine tooth comb!!! I’m following your recommendations now right to the letter and I can’t wait for my second blood test to see my improvement!!! Thanks so much for all your guidance and passion to help us!!!
Dr Gundry, I am so excited about this video🎉 Informative and fun. While I religiously use kale and arugula. I will be trying raddichio, endive, and frisee! I will eliminate sprout🎉 I am so excited!
Thanks. I love growing Swiss chard. I also grow spinach, Egyptian spinach, Malabar spinach (from the beet family), and bright colors of lettuces. This winter when I plant my broccoli, I ordered more seeds to be able to pick the tiny sprouts as a micro green super food.
thank you for the information I used to drink barley grass powder. Ive always wondered why it didn't felt nice in my tummy then I stopped drinking I felt so much better. I thought it's a helpful drink but it actually made my gut health worse.
If you grow your own microgreens which is really easy with kits out there I feel it should be in the S tier. Even if you just eat the sprouts before it matures into a plant is super healthy and easy to digest.
What about green pea micro greens? I found a website or Instagram that said that even though peas and the sprouts have lectins, the microgreens do not have them.
What about some beet greens? I freeze my leafy veggies (except cabbage) as soon as I buy them to preserve the quality. I then put them into my smoothies with my beets, avocado, and unsweetened coconut milk. Cacao or a Gundry approved fruit helps the flavor to make them go down smoothly!
Anything that has grass attached to the name should be avoided. Cows, goats, sheep, deer eat grass, it then goes through 4 stomachs to digest. We have one stomach.
I love you Dr. Gundry, and you have changed my life, but spinach is not a crucifer. It's related to swiss chard and beets (family Amaranthaceae). Swiss chard and beets belong to the same family, but in the subfamily Chenopodiaceae. I used to love all three but now have to avoid them due to an oxalate problem! The greens I use the most are chicories (sunflower family) such as escarole, endive, and radicchio. Lettuce is in the sunflower family as well. Ignore your detractors. They don't have your deep understanding of evolution!
Swiss chard = Beta vulgaris ---->Family Amaranthaceae NOT Brassicaceae or (the older) Cruciferae. And KIMUCHI is made from Chinese cabbage, usually. Sauerkraut is made from cabbage.
I am so glad I'm learning a boat.Spinach, I know, if you cook spinach, you get more and out of it.And if you cook tomatoes , you get more vitamin c , but the thing with A man he should not have too much iron in his system. Because it can interfere with the heart.Correct me if i'm Wrong. I hope it wasn't a wife's tail that a man should not have food that's high in Iron and therefore should not cook out of the cast iron's frying PAN.
UK doesn't have a ready supply of organic raddichio, endive or Chicory. Tried to grow my own nut failed due to bad weather. Hope gut health becomes a priority for suppliers. Only 50 years ago most food was organic.
I just found alfalfa sprouuts again this past wk but i guess i will throw them out oh well i was so excited when i found them they were the last pkg too in the store oh well i trust. You thankyou
Dr. I watch videos to make shirataki noodles at home and it is a mix between Glucomannan powder and Calcium Hydroxide so i want to know is it safe to eat those substances even for many times and prepare the noodles at home? Thanks in advance Dr.
Thank you Dr. Gundry. By following your list to avoid certain food, my leaky gut got so much better these years. By the way, I think refine oil is harder to avoid in my country(like soybean oil), it's been widely used in restaurant, or if we read the label carefully, it can be find almost any where.
I pretty much eat everything mentioned except seaweed, the "grasses," the stuff thay looks like artichoke hearts, and alfalfa sprouts. What about dinosaur kale (lacinato)? It's second only to rainbow chard for me

I think you have great advice and I appreciate it very much. I know of a southern dish that Im not even sure you have heard of but if you have Id like your input. Ive heard people say its not recommended to eat poke unless its its fully cooked first because its possibly toxic raw but is there any healthy benefits to it after cooked and then fried (thats how its prepared)? Thanks.

I had a neighbor who assured me he was experienced and knew when and what parts of poke weed was safe to eat. He died after eating it. Not worth risking, in my opinion. We missed him very much.
@@lf4061 thanks for the advice and im sorry to read about that. I ate it quite a bit growing up but my mom and grandmother knew how to prepare it. I have heard its toxic raw. I would advise anyone to cook and fry it completely first. By the way if you prepare spinach the same way it tastes very similar and the spinach is safe!

what seeds did you grow?

Thank you dr.Gundry.
2 reasons I don't eat salads: 1. I don't like making them. 2. The fixings eventually go bad.

For those non-Americans who wonder what arugula is, it is rocket. (One cannot be too careful where health is concerned.)
It’s rather roquette .. get your spelling right 😡
@@JS-wj3rl Along with Oxford OED, Cambridge, Collins Cobuild, Longmans, Chambers, wiktionary, etc. etc., I'll go with rocket thanks.

Is Lentil sprouts 🌱good for?
Hello there, thanks for your question! Dr. Gundry recommends avoiding all legume sprouts as they contain a high amount of lectins.
Thoughts on phytic acid? Is it best to lightly cook all these vegetables
Thank you Sir for the valuable information. May the Lord God in heaven bless you Sir.
Anything that has grass attached to the name should be avoided. Cows, goats, sheep, deer eat grass, it then goes through 4 stomachs to digest. We have one stomach.
So you rather your food have Grain fed

Please do a recap at the end so we can see which veggies are S and A.

endive !
Helpful. Thank you !!

Arnt spinach, chards and mustard greens high in oxilates
I’m sure he knows that, although I believe he is just generalizing all these greens
Anything high in calcium in your meal with those oxalates will bind with them to make them no big deal.
That’s a question for Dr Sally K Norton to answer, she’s the title holder of heavyweight champion of Oxalates 💪
Thank you Dr. Gundry. By following your list to avoid certain food, my leaky gut got so much better these years. Lacinato kale is Dr. Gundry approved and high in polyphenols! 🙌
Why are lectins so bad? I feel fine eating beans, tomatoes, seeds and everything else. Will I not live as long if I don't avoid these foods?
Hi there! While there are many great benefits of following a lectin-free diet (like a boost in energy and improved gut health!) the preference of following this lifestyle is up to you. We recommend consulting with your primary care physician to discuss a plan that works best for your health.
Spinach could be the difference between life and death if you have very high blood pressure
The problem is all these greens are filled with chemicals taking away any benefits
So is Burger King, KFC, McD, etc....
Might be the lesser of 2 evils.
If you grow your own it should be ok.
😂😂 this guy is a doctor he is afraid of fruits vegetables beans bread
Excellent video. Do amaranth spinach next time! A very commonly eaten leafy green in Asia.
i wonder where foragable food fit on the list like dandelion and stinging nettle
I use radicchio in my smoothies. I like it because it takes a long time to go bad so I can store a bunch of it for a long time
Frozen berries, walnuts, radicchio, coconut milk 😋
Ok I'll replace my wheatgrass with chlorella😎
Pretty awesome, Dr. Gundry!

Swiss chard is incredibly high in oxalates. Should it get an A rating?
