I feel like you should do the masters in international education because whilst experience can help acquire knowledge, so can learning the theory. Additionally, you could always get the experience after doing your masters. It may also give you more confidence when you finally get a job. Maybe take a year off to do internships, build more connections and then do your masters. There are plenty job offers now, plenty job offers after your masters. In addition, if you would like to do documentary work, the theoretical knowledge from your masters may come in very useful.
I think you should do a masters and then all of your study years are over, if you have a gap year you might get addicted to working and traveling, you probably wont be in the flow of studying. Build up your channel with the audience you have, and create content about your masters (not a lot of youtubers do it) Love you 😍 Sonia from Spain
Vee, I think if you really aren't sure, taking a year off to dip your toes in and explore options would be a really great idea and let you enjoy life a bit after the craziness of uni!
i was about to say that "im so early, i dont know what to say" but, to be honest, I do have something to say- I've been watching your channel since your first video. You were always a huge inspiration to me, my goal is to get into oxford and my motivation to reach that goal is definitely fueled by you. Seeing you move along your career in education is so touching. And I pray for you that you will find your way in life :)
I'm so glad you posted this, because sometimes it feels like everyone else has their life together but we're all really just trying to figure it out as we go. I'm also very conflicted in what I want to do after I graduate and it's pretty stressful because one day you think you've figured it out and the next day your doubtful all over again. I think this happens because we feel like the decisions we make are life altering, but the thing is as long as we choose to do something we're one step closer to figuring it out. Thank you for posting this!
giving my unsolicited advice, it sounds like you really want to explore the world, so i think the best option is to not right away start working. it sounds to corny but you have your whole life to work, right now is the time to meet people, explore places and travel! 💞
Your TH-cam channel will definitely not come to a natural end once you graduate !!!! Can’t wait to see what your future holds, Vee, and I’m truly hoping you can bring us along for the adventure!
Law graduate here. Currently thinking about changing my career path to development works for women empowerment & poor children who can't afford good education. It's so inspiring to see the options you've put out Vee. All of them are amazing. Not only for yourself but for the world as well. Lots of love!❤
After watching this video, it kind of made me happy that I am not alone! I feel your pain, Vee! It’s a major struggle when you have so many aspirations and things you wish to achieve but not sure what option to take! If I were you, I’d honestly take the year out - do some charity work, do some travelling and have some ME time away from needing to complete or meet deadlines and consider applying for Harvard in the fall for next year? Harvard or these jobs or you moving to London is not gonna run away but equally you don’t wanna regret not giving your smart, tiresome brain that well earned rest! Whatever you choose to do, I am sure you will do amazing girl. Xx
Vee!! Don’t give up on your channel!!! You’re such an inspiration for me and many others. Also, I feel like the yt channel would be very important in your future work. Even if some of your audience leaves, I’m sure new people will come. You’re doing so great! And masters is definitely a good option as you would be able to meet new people, understand what to do better. But if you feel like you need to rest from uni and at the same time want to do something useful, the gap year could help a lot.
Girl. I love you and I feel you siss. I am actually a second/first generation Gambian and I am doing Engineering but my purpose in life is literally to help my country so I feel you girl. And girl. I believe in you. I believe you will find a way to do everything.
It would be so amazing for any of those different paths but trust your heart!! Do what makes you happy!! I am in the same situation and am going to volunteer in a charity which works around Asia!! But we will always be there for you Vee no matter what path you choose to take!!!
I really like your idea of taking a year out to travel and then deciding what to do. That way, your experiences might be able to positively inform your decision. Getting out and travelling the wider world can really help things into perspective. Also, with regard to your worry that you’ll get bored, I don’t think you’ll get bored travelling the world. There’s so many incredible places to visit, cultures to explore, experiences to be had - you’re spoiled for choice, really 😊 I think it would be a great idea xx
Finished university last year and I completely understand your feelings. I'm in the same position you. It’s so normal but ultimately follow your heart, follow your instincts. You are so blessed with opportunities! So embrace it!
As someone who is now in her final year PhD and did it as BA, MA, work for 4 years (made redundant!) then PhD I would recommend doing your masters straight after your undergrad. My partner came back to do his MSc after a few years working and it is totally doable but I think there is a nice flow to undergrad and then straight to masters. Do a little bit of travelling in the summer break and then do long term travelling after masters :). I know I certainly felt "done" after 4 years. My one bit of advice is don't do a PhD straight after masters! That is burnout territory! Take a little bit of time beforehand to work and travel.
Everyone wants to go to a prestigious university to earn money and stuff, but there is also people like you who truly aspires to make the world a better place to live. I've been watching your channel since I was a junior. Now I am getting close to final exam and graduating high school and starting to imagine where I will be in the future. I can't possibly say how much I have been inspired by you. But whatever you do in the future, whether its continuing for masters or doing great things for the world, don't just give up this channel, we want to be with you. :D - love from China
thank you vee, it's so interesting hearing other people talk about this weird in-between stage after uni!! i finished my BA last fall and am now doing my masters, mainly because i had no idea yet how and where to start job wise. but i'm glad i'm doing my MA now cause i reckon it would be harder to get back into the routine of uni with studying etc. if i'd taken a year off. i'm also interning, which makes for a very full schedule but at least i'm getting some work experience as well. maybe try an internship over summer break or something to help you decide what you like better. good luck!😊
I completely relate to that feeling of not knowing which decision to make, but the best advice I got from listening to gary vee's podcast is to JUST PICK ONE. You will never know what life will look like if you choose another option so just pick one and go ALL IN on that decision.
Girl getting sponsored by Subway, you rockkk!!! But ur such a mood, I don't have a clue what to do with my life either: I'm going to college next year (Belgium) and I still have like 4 options to study and they change every single day, so I feel you! My advice: listen to what your close family says, maybe even close friends, but most of all. Listen to YOURSELF and your heart! Do what feels right: if you still want to go to uni, go to Harvard, go to the US, and explore your interests there. If you want to work, go work! You already have options from your studies and also the option of going into the media (I'll definitely be watching the documentaries you'll make lmaoo). Studying more might also help with making documentaries later and that extra Degree could always come in handy ;)). And if you reaally don't know it, take that gape year you were talking about. Maybe then, you'll realise you still want to study/you want to explore the world + help people with your job/want to empower young women/people in general. (PS: I'll miss your deadline videos though, they're actually so darn motivating ;)). I'll still watch every video though 'cause you're one of the only REAL youtubers that I can find here, you love making videos and love sharing content and you are motivating every single one of us with these videos: they are actually making me write better!)
Hiya, I'm 19 years old and finished high school last year. I didn't know what I wanted to do as well, but I knew studying and staying in Germany wasn't an option. I'm now an Au pair and talked to my other friends about this: Going abroad for a year is the best thing that I could've done. You learn so much about a different culture, but most importantly about yourself. You realise what you need and don't need and what you are actually interested in. Also, if not now at a younger age when else would you have the opportunity to travel wherever your heart desires. Later in life it might be harder to do that when you are in a serious job. I would always recommend travelling if somebody isn't sure about what to do next. Paula x
I think if you are this conflicted, a gap year seems like the best option. It sounds like you have ideas of a bunch of purposeful ways to fill up that year, so it will not be wasted for sure and you’ll definitely lean a lot. Give yourself that set amount of time to try something different than your current routine and then re-evaluate at the end of it what to do moving forward. I graduated last May and it wasn’t my intention to take time off, but life happened and there was a period of about 6 months where I was kind of just existing in limbo (not working, not schooling, dealing with family/mental health stuff, etc.) At the time I felt bad that I didn’t plan anything for my time off, but I realize now that everything I was thinking and doing (good and bad) during that period was critical in making my next move, personally and career-wise. I’m now in an accelerated program to be a technician, working part time and dealing with my bottled up emotions in such a healthy way. I have a clear singular goal of where I want to be a year from now and it feels great! This period of our lives (early 20s) is amazingly scrambled/confusing/frustrating and I’m learning to love that. I think people benefit from some time away from “the grind” no matter how that may look to the person. And with your work ethic and passion, I know that whatever you choose to do, it will work itself out in the best way possible, the way it was meant to be. Lots of love 💕
My recommendation would be to firstly apply for the Masters you are interested in, then if you are accepted you can decide to go or defer (idk if this is always possible) and go traveling. If you don't get accepted into your favourite program you can do your year travelling and further improving your profile and then apply again. This way you have at least 2 chances to get into your dream program 💕
I will start uni in September and I can relate so much with your feelings. Not knowing whether I wanted to go on a gap year or not, study in Germany or abroad, ... There's just so many options and even now I question my decision. You are an incredibly intelligent and inspiring woman and I'm sure you'll find what works for you, even if it is through trial and error💗
Many times, when I have so many options available to me (this is a privilege and a blessing, but can be very stressful at times) I take as long as i need to, to pray, think, sleep on it, really see what is my dream/purpose, and pick what path will take me there. But please take you time in picking what path to go through and don't stress yourself about it!! All these options you mention sound amazing, and whatever you pick, I do believe you will happy.
Girl you are definitely not alone! When I graduated my Bachelor's I had no idea what I wanted to do. I had no particularly strong feelings towards any of my options and decided to take a gap year where I travelled, worked and applied for a Masters. Honestly, perfect decision for me, it gave me some time to relax after writing my thesis and graduating, time to catch up with my friends and see a little bit of the world. After 2 months I decided that I wanted to at least apply for my dream Master and pray I would get in - I ended up getting in and also managed to sneak a good 7 months of work experience into the gap year. It was really worth it for me to take some time and think of what it really is I want to do whilst combining all the options I had before starting my Masters. In the end it will all work out! Good luck with your decision and hope you get in to Harvard!
taking a gap year lets you gain the practical experience you need, this gives you an advantage when you are doing your masters because all you then need is the theoretical knowledge... with those two coupled together you would be considered an asset in a company you decide to apply for
Firstly, i'm so proud of you Vee and I love your ideas and your possible plans on what to do next. Secondly, I'm in the same boat as you right now. Although I have an idea on what to do next after I graduate and sticking with going into a job based on my degree (Sport & Exercise Science) , I'm not fully sure yet of if that will be my final decision. My idea is that I'd like to work with children in sport, there's so many other areas to think of working in, but as of now, i think working with children is my only idea. Thirdly, you've played a big part in inspiring/encouraging me through your university vlogs/videos and you're a superstar. God bless you and thank you so much for being such a blessing. You're truly appreciated and may God continue to open doors for you Vee. Michael.
My advice, for what it’s worth, is to do the masters. At the right uni you might find you’re able to do your thesis/dissertation abroad working with some of those communities and charities you’re interested in. Masters (in the UK) tend to start late September so you’d still have a few month after graduation to travel if you want, and maybe make contacts for your thesis. I’m doing my MA now btw. For that subject, since you want to move to London anyway, look into UCL as they have an institute of education so a real reputation in the world of education research. I’ve got lecturers who are doing their education research in China, Saudi Arabia etc Like I say, just my thoughts!
I loove that you're into supporting young women, equal opportunities and education. You will make it Vee! I also have a lot of worries about choosing what to do after I graduate. But no matter what choice we make, I believe it will be worthy, and we will learn so much from it. So just follow your heart :) -Sending love and support from Korea :)!
I'm feeling like this too about leaving after A levels because I don't know what I want to do. I'd say you could do a bit of all of these. I'd suggest you don't need to do a master's right away, it's expensive and not worth it if you're not certain. I'd say take a gap year and get experience and then you can always both do outreach for women and documentaries as media jobs seem to be few and far between. Good luck and I hope you find an option that makes you really happy.
Hey Vee! I would highly recommend taking a year out to travel, experience non-student life and by doing so, hopefully, narrow down on what specifically interests you and what you want to work towards to. I took two years out, decided to completely change my career plan and am now doing a Masters in International Relations (where I actually learned about CAMFED through one of my professors who is on the organisation's UK board!). Personally, I would LOVE to follow your journey outside of uni, especially when it's about meeting new people and new cultures! Xxx
I'd lean towards going straight into masters just because you're already used to the school routine with studying and papers. It might be a bit hard to get back into the swing of it after a year. But if you choose to use the gap year to travel and see those parts of the world, you could bring that experience into your masters studies and what you experienced could enrich the information you gain through masters coursework (and I'm sure those experiences could be useful on applications as well lol). But that could be said for the opposite; traveling a year after masters and seeing how the knowledge applies to first hand real world contexts. As for the dream job, don't worry!! You've shown us on this channel that you're ambitious and work hard to accomplish your goals so you will get there one day even if it's not right now. You're still young & I feel like whatever option you pick will lead to great opportunities. I hope this helped a bit :)
I feel like you could actually do all three. Take a gap year, travel, live a little bit and experience what’s life like out of uni. Then apply to the masters, graduate from it and get the job.
i think u should take a 3 month vacation just for u to enjoy, not a year because then u would forget things. Afterwards, the master is an extremely good option, u would literally know everything there is to know, and u would be extremely prepared for the first path u mentioned plus doing documentaries. basically, u can do everything u desire u just have to organise it. love u so much by the way, u r capable of everything
Hey Vee, me and my boyfriend think you should do the masters whilst part timing it at a charity, then take the year out and also do the documentaries on the side, then all together now, join the full charity at the end, safe travels!
I’m in my last year completing my Masters Degree and I am also in this battle of what to do as well. When I completed my Bachelors degree I worked for a year and then went overseas to start my masters. As of now, I’m contemplating on whether I should go back to my old job when I’m finished with my masters, whether I should move to another country to start my career or whether I should take some time to travel and live my best life. The decisions and options are nerve racking.
What ever path you choose, you will have endless wonderful experiences. There really are no wrong answers here and what ever option you choose will be the right one simply because you chose it. Also remember that just because you go down one path, it doesn’t mean that you are shutting yourself out from all the others. You’re young and have so much life left to live! All that being said, If you do end up at Harvard next year, I’d love to say hello to you in Boston sometime :)))
I totally relate. I was very interested in HR management. I started working in the field , and got a lot more clarity . I’d women empowerment and education are your thing, get on the ground and see how it plays out in the real world! It would really help.
it's so nice to hear from someone who's in the same position as me right now !! I'm a 3rd year undergrad and i don't know what's going to happen when i'm finished - my rough plan right now is to take a year out and try out different career fields (probably education / charity based), and then do a part-time MA, but i don't know what will end up happening ! the prospect of leaving academia and all of its structure is v scary but i'm also looking forward to it?
Mmm you've got me thinking Zelda R that possibly doing the MA part time is a better way to go than full time, plus it's more affordable and you have time to get your head around the theories etc. I'm confused especially as a mature student where I've previously had jobs but now am in a stronger position as I meet criteria's ;). Cheers
I graduate in June and i have NO clue what to do! I do film production and specialized in editing but I've recently realized that as much as i love editing i also love doing hair on set when im asked so i don't know if i should go down that route BUT i also want to travel too but i need a job for that and ahhhhhhh i feel you all us almost grads are in the same boat!!
I think a year off would be wonderful! 1. You would experience all the charitable and generous contributions you can make for women out there! And of course, by then, through media you would be able to achieve much more than normal. 2. Browse master courses anywhere else and plan out 365 days of freedom. 3. You could always travel and explore and learn a new language or learn anything you want.
I think you can do the master in international education ,internships and travel at the same time. All the options !During the break you can travel or do an internship to create more connections.
In my opinion, take that year out. I went straight into a PhD after my BSc and I regret not taking the time to figure out my calling. Travel the world and do some work experience or volunteering in different countries. There will always be jobs for someone as inspirational and talented as you.
Hi vee I really enjoy watching your videos. My semester is in corner and when I'm demotivated I do one thing is watch your videos and I get energised to study
Dont worry vee you arent the only one feeling this way I'm 18 and currently in college doing a health and social care level 2 course and I have no idea wether to progress onto level 3 of this course or do level 3 childcare course and then try and get an apprenticeship after it x
@Unknown it's good like you learn about a variety of things but some of the things you will hear about arent very nice at all but Its a good route to go down because there are many different career options x
Hey Vee I am truly inspired by everything you do , you're actually more of a big sister to me and I look up to you. I'm a young Zimbabwean girl who's also passionate about helping the community especially with women empowerment. I haven't made much change in my community 😔 but I know one day I will and I'm so proud of you because you're representing us 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼 fully . If you do come to Zim I'll be super excited and would love to meet you . I think you're amazing 👏❤️ . I watch your videos with my mom and they've made a great impact in my life and thank you so much. Love from Zimbabwe ❤️
Personally, I finished my undergraduate degree in 2019, took a year off, and am starting a graduate degree (2020) at an American University. Originally, I was going to enroll in a graduate degree right out of undergrad and took my GREs in the spring of 2019. I started applying but felt like I didn't know if that was the right course of action for me. After graduating, I had too many options, too. I am fortunate enough where I could take a year off to travel and get introspective about my future. During that time, a graduate program reached out to me and told me about a visitation day on their campus, so I went. I ended up falling in love with the city where the university is located (Providence, Rhode Island) and later applied. I got accepted and will be moving to my new city in three months. This was not a possible option a year ago. Sometimes it's best to keep your options open because wonderous things can happen at unexpected times, if we are open to those experiences. Best of luck, Vee! You're going to excel in whatever you do
Yam Potato wow this is amazing! i’m thinking of doing something similar, how did you study for your GRE? was it difficult coming from a UK education background ? Thanks !
I'd advice you to continu with a master degree. It will give you the tools, qualifications and network to really make an impact, when you decide to go into the working force. As some have mentioned, you might lose your flow, when you decide to step away from university. I think you could really grow and consolidate your audience by doing a master, which you then could use to make an impact on the topics you have mentioned.
Travelling while making YT videos (and maybe mini docs) gives you a great chance to fully enjoy a year of your life doing what you love which will no doubt give you more clarity about what to do next AND that experience would definitely help with applying for a masters/charity job, final year is rough but be kind to yourself!✨✨
But girlll you can combine the three by taking a gap year and volunteer at charities that focus on empowering young women while in the meantime applying to a master at harvard and you could even live in londen for 2 months while preparing for your travels :)
OMG I'm in the exact same situation....cant relate to this more. I also have 1 more semester left before getting my bachelor's degree and damn i'm freakin out. Have no clue what to do next and am kinda afraid of not being a student anymore honestly. Vee, youve been doing well and you have clear vison of what you wanna pursue in life so no matter what you choose, i'm sure you'll do great. Wish i had that too. I livein Korea and my semester has been pushed back for 1month due to covid-19, and i'm still not sure if im gonna take this semester off to do things outside school or just finish my last semester and graduate first. It's really scary to leave my comfort zone(uni, in my case) but i guess how i feel is normal. Vee, thank you so much for this vide. Love your energy and positivity. Keep up with your inspiring work ♥ doesnt have to be about uni life. What we love is you and your energy :)
Personally I’d say travel first, you’d still be learning soo much & especially if you volunteer at certain places like you mentioned. It would also give you more time to think about what you want next!
Hi, Vee! What you're feeling is perfectly normal... I think we've all been there. Do what you think is right. But, getting a master's degree is still a sure thing and personally, I think it's a great idea considering the plans you have. I'm in my second year of a master's degree in paleontology and dream of doing a thesis. But I have to think about the possibility in case I can't get one. So, I can relate! Anyway, it will be fine and I'm sure that whatever you do you will be fulfilled. PS: Sorry for the mistakes, I'm French and not very good at writing ahah.
I’d do a gap year, it looks like there’s so much happening in your life right now and maybe if you ease your mind for a while things will start to get more clear. I’ve felt pressured to make decisions and ended up being very confused, changing my mind bilion times and now at 26 Im slowly coming to point where I can see what I actually would like to do. Clearly you are super driven and focused, however in my opinion just letting go for a month or two could probably make things easier in a longer run :)
i feel the exact same! I'm an English Language and Linguistics student, and I will be graduating this year as well! I have no clue what I am going to do after uni, so my main option is to get an interim job and figure it out. Ive decided that we're too young to be so stressed about settling into a career so suddenly, so I'm trying to just slow down a bit
Heyyy🤗I really think you should choose travelling🌻...you have worked so so hard and deserve a year in which you can gather your thoughts , find yourself and make an educated , decision with regards to your future plans ...travelling on it's own brings so much valuable knowledge and it gives you a chance to free your mind of all this stress ❄☃️However the decision is yours 😋And no matter what ...you cannot go wrong! You are so capable Vee !
Hey Vee! I'm graduating in July as well and wow, the decisions are tough. I'm very lucky to have got two offers: one for a masters in Urban Planning and another for a grad scheme with a company that does a lot of urban planning, urban design, transport planning etc. I have accepted the job offer as a) I was worried about the affordability of the masters b) I need some work experience/money lol and c) the grad scheme at the company is a really broad introduction to urban planning etc so I can see what I actually enjoy before diving in to a masters! But I still have the feeling in the back of my mind like oh, maybe I should've taken the masters, what if I regret it... I'm trying to reassure myself that plenty of people go back and do a masters after working for a bit, and that door isn't closed - whereas I wasn't sure if I'd get any other job offers for a while. So yeah, looks like I'll be taking the job, but it doesn't start until October so now I need to get planning my summer 🤔
omg i think you should take a year out!!! take time for yourself you're just going to have graduated from OXFORD UNIVERSITY!! you're still so young, take time to travel and gain experiences doing things that will help you when you apply for jobs, and just have fun travelling the world, you can also use that year to help you figure out exactly how you can get in to the field/job role that you really want to go in too. xxx
I feel you girl so much, there is such a huge need for education, especially for girls (young people in general) in Africa. That is so unfair that those children don't have money to go to school or have to stay with their parents to help them with agricultural work for example, what makes them bound to fail. We have so many future scientists, ambassadors, politicians, lawyers, journalists, doctors in Africa, but with no access to education. Just because we were born on different continent, in wealthier country does not mean that we should ignore people that are less fortunate than us. My heart is bleeding while I am watching a documentary or reporting about children from African countries, their reality is incomparably more difficult than reality that we used to live in. They have to get water, food, even protect their lives. Friends from around the world, we owe them help and support. Vee, You motivate me everyday, Your online activity is priceless. Your goodheartedness is a gift from God, I am sure that Your community will expand and we will have influence on improvement in access to education in Africa. You go, girl. (I have already voted😉). I keep my fingers crossed and pray for You 💞
Omg SO SO relatable!! I graduate in a few months (november) and I'm a mess (honours and masters in psych?? Grad job?? Med school?? Who bloody knows girl). I think you should always continue to do work in the community even if you decide to do masters (EBV AMERICA EDITION???) because thats what you're amazing at. Also pls come to Australia (6 month gap maybe?) And if you do I would diee to show you around if ur into that. Also I speak for myself but I would love you to continue youtube and showing us what you're doing and like realistic adjustment to life after uni you know? Anyways congrats on last essay done 🎉🎉❤ (saw on insta)
Personally I would do the traveling for the year. The travelling would allow you to still learn and get hands on experience in the field you want, while still making a contribution the the greater picture, especially if you travel to the places that need it the most. Also, you'll most likely never have a time in your life again where you don't have to have anything lined up and can just travel and do what you want to. Hopefully this helps! Lol
Love your content! And your passion for always wanting to help people. I do want to help our people back at home (through volunteering as well). Still in the process of getting more info about it. I will definitely be keeping up with all your videos. You’re an inspiration Vee.🧡
Okay I'm going to put my two pennies in - when choosing which opportunities to take up, choose the ones that will add strings to your bow and maximise further options later on. You need to think strategically as a woman and part of that, as harsh as it may seem, is your ability to financially support yourself over your lifespan.
I would really encourage you to do your research into volunteer tourism to ensure anything you do during a possible gap year doesn’t feed into the problems associated with it.
hello vee! i was wondering.. what if you didn't have to choose? I mean.. you could do all those things: fist of all you could take a gap year and travel/ do the work experiences you fancy the most, then you could get a master's and then start working with societies and movements (like he for she) using your social medias too! I don't know.. i feel like you can choose not to choose, you don't necessarily have to give up any of your passions/dreams anyway, I support you and good luuuuuuck💪🏼💪🏼♡
How about doing a gap year, half internship at an organisation of your choice, half traveling, and then doing a masters degree afterwards? This way you would be able to have it all
I'm in the exact same place as you!! Graduating in a few months too ❤ I think that a year out sounds best!!! It gives you a flavour of everything and also.. it's okay not to know!! And it's okay to just go to Australia for a few months and have fun :)
I think you should take a gap year. I usually don’t advice this at all but it seems like you’re not sure yet and I believe volunteering and interning might help you come to a concrete goal. I definitely recommend volunteering in South America or the Caribbean so you can explore the different cultures. Maybe coordinate volunteering efforts? I think you will not get bored, you seem very people oriented and able to make the best out of any experience. I believe someone once told me that the best form of learning is through experience. So I recommend to live it and then conceptualize it later in your masters. I was in a similar position but now I’m clear in two goals. I’ll be attending university for an undergrad @Uchicago and I’m committed in female and hispanic advancement. You’re someone to look up to and I wish you the best in any path you partake.
Taking a year to gain some work experience and better insight into the global education policy landscape you want to be in is a great idea! You will have better industry knowledge that is invaluable when doing a Masters (theory won't teach you context). Also, work-life when starting out is less demanding than student-life, so you will likely have the time and freedom to still go on travel adventures and do cool stuff. You're young, carpe diem!
The fact that she has met Michelle Obama and is a close friend of Malala...Girl😍

Build up your channel with the audience you have, and create content about your masters (not a lot of youtubers do it)
Love you 😍
Sonia from Spain
That is a really good suggestion. ❤️ 👍
I’d go continue my masters at harvard or whatever and then because of that more opportunities would be available anywhere
Vee, I think if you really aren't sure, taking a year off to dip your toes in and explore options would be a really great idea and let you enjoy life a bit after the craziness of uni!
i was about to say that "im so early, i dont know what to say" but, to be honest, I do have something to say-
I've been watching your channel since your first video. You were always a huge inspiration to me, my goal is to get into oxford and my motivation to reach that goal is definitely fueled by you. Seeing you move along your career in education is so touching. And I pray for you that you will find your way in life :)
I know that you can get there xx
you're so passionated about supporting and empowering young women, it's absolutely lovely to listen to!
It really is I can't wait to see what she does 😊
I'm so glad you posted this, because sometimes it feels like everyone else has their life together but we're all really just trying to figure it out as we go.
Same I'm glad she's talking about this
❤️
giving my unsolicited advice, it sounds like you really want to explore the world, so i think the best option is to not right away start working. it sounds to corny but you have your whole life to work, right now is the time to meet people, explore places and travel! 💞
PLEASE CONTINUE MAKING VIDEOS AFTER UNI!! we'd love to follow along on your journey!
Lots of love!❤
ur an inspiring, kind soul and i hope that whatever path you take, you remember this and keep it in your strength!
traveling sounds good to me!! You've worked so hard for the past few years you deserve a chance to reset and widen your perspective!
Such a positive vibe . You inspire me in so many ways . I wish you all the best. Sending love from Accra, Ghana
- love from China
I’m so scared to graduate, didn’t manage to get onto any grad schemes and I’m panicking really hard that I have no options :(
You can do it, never give up. I believe in you
If this anything means to you: we believe in you, just go and get it!!!!
You have the power to create your own reality! Look into the law of attraction- I’ve never looked back. You got this!
Vee, pray about it. It will really help you make a good decision. God has a good plan for u.❤
All the best in what you choose for yourself 😍 always here to support you!
thank you vee, it's so interesting hearing other people talk about this weird in-between stage after uni!! i finished my BA last fall and am now doing my masters, mainly because i had no idea yet how and where to start job wise. but i'm glad i'm doing my MA now cause i reckon it would be harder to get back into the routine of uni with studying etc. if i'd taken a year off. i'm also interning, which makes for a very full schedule but at least i'm getting some work experience as well. maybe try an internship over summer break or something to help you decide what you like better.
Whatever you choose Vee, I’ll definitely watch future videos you might make and continue following you! You are such an inspiring woman !
I vote masters!! You’ll have even more options (like teaching at a uni), especially because you chose Harvard :)
Michael.
mike28771 Aw this was so nice
My advice, for what it’s worth, is to do the masters. At the right uni you might find you’re able to do your thesis/dissertation abroad working with some of those communities and charities you’re interested in. Masters (in the UK) tend to start late September so you’d still have a few month after graduation to travel if you want, and maybe make contacts for your thesis. I’m doing my MA now btw.
For that subject, since you want to move to London anyway, look into UCL as they have an institute of education so a real reputation in the world of education research. I’ve got lecturers who are doing their education research in China, Saudi Arabia etc
Like I say, just my thoughts!
I hope this helped a bit :)
couldn’t agree more
I feel like you could actually do all three. Take a gap year, travel, live a little bit and experience what’s life like out of uni. Then apply to the masters, graduate from it and get the job.
you are young and so inspiring. try all of the options if you can!
i think u should take a 3 month vacation just for u to enjoy, not a year because then u would forget things.
Zelda R good you can afford it
Mmm you've got me thinking Zelda R that possibly doing the MA part time is a better way to go than full time, plus it's more affordable and you have time to get your head around the theories etc.
Loving the consistent and frequent uploads!
I really love your optimism for life and you inspire me so much to go out there and reach for my goals. Thank you
Hey Vee
I am truly inspired by everything you do , you're actually more of a big sister to me and I look up to you.
Vee, whatever path you choose to follow, I'll still watch your videos because they're always so intersting & entertaining :)
You’re so intelligent, you’ll discover your way, keep calm, try to enjoy your last days at Oxford and follow your instinct -love from Chile💖
Do them all.
Hey... Very intresting topic.. Your are video are not bored I liked your videos and your ideas 😊😊
Good luck girl. But with all that is happening i hope you get in.
I've been stuck in undergrad for years and I don't want to leave because I'm little and afraid of the big bad world😟
Take some time off and see the world, then go to HARVARD! Then you're limitless! I'm also in the same kind of boat. 58 days till graduation!
So yeah, looks like I'll be taking the job, but it doesn't start until October so now I need to get planning my summer 🤔
omg i think you should take a year out!!! take time for yourself you're just going to have graduated from OXFORD UNIVERSITY!! you're still so young, take time to travel and gain experiences doing things that will help you when you apply for jobs, and just have fun travelling the world, you can also use that year to help you figure out exactly how you can get in to the field/job role that you really want to go in too. xxx
Thank you for the TED talk I didn’t know I needed
Lol
Very interesting topic - also graduating ... 😅
Vee I love your energy!!!
Oh vee please come to france , in Nice !!! It would be a pleasure to have you , learn english for me and french for you !!!
Got into New College, Ox for my post grad 😍😍
I would really encourage you to do your research into volunteer tourism to ensure anything you do during a possible gap year doesn’t feed into the problems associated with it.
You are so inspiring Vee!❤️
hello vee!
i was wondering.. what if you didn't have to choose? I mean.. you could do all those things: fist of all you could take a gap year and travel/ do the work experiences you fancy the most, then you could get a master's and then start working with societies and movements (like he for she) using your social medias too!
I don't know.. i feel like you can choose not to choose, you don't necessarily have to give up any of your passions/dreams
anyway, I support you and good luuuuuuck💪🏼💪🏼♡
You're young, carpe diem!
australia = surfing... ive been living here for 15 years and never learned to surf so good luck if you choose to do that!
