Just wanted to pop in real quick to let you know that I’m so invested in your channel at this point that my mom (who doesn’t get the whole “TH-cam” thing) asked me today, “how is your friend at oxford doing? I hope her exams went well.” 😂😂 Anyways- LOVE you and congrats on graduating!!

Shyland Stan : Exactly, If Lewis Hamilton had that mindset, Do you think he would have fulfilled his potential as a 6th time F1 champion in an exclusively white dominated competition.
We live in a world where successful black people need to represent, advocate and be recruiters when they enter a successful ‘space’ - a white space... and it’s unacceptable! Oxford needs to step up and be the educational institution that they boast to be. The black students at Oxford shouldn’t need to walk in a room (a white space) and work twice as hard because all eyes are on them to show the room what black people can do. They should be able to walk into a room, it be their room, they study to their ability with no additional pressures, they should feel safe and under no other obligations other than to try their best as every student should.
She’s an inspiration for the whole world. I’m Scottish and I look up to her and I’m so proud and feel so lucky that I can have an insight into this wonderful and intelligent woman’s life and experiences ! Xx
Aw Vee, I'm so proud of you for graduating from Oxford! And it's great to hear that you were happy there and took advantage of all of these amazing opportunities you were offered. You're honestly such an inspiration!!! You're a huge part of the reason I'm inspired to balance uploading videos on my channel with working really hard at uni! I'm so glad to see you continue to succeed and thrive in the future!
I agree with you. It's so unfair how as Black students we can't just go to college and have the best time and leave. Instead we have to be representing and recruiting a whole race
Hey, queen! Girl, you have done it again. Constantly raising the bar for us all, and doing it flawlessly. I’d say I’m surprised... but I know who you are! Girl, you make me SO proud. And I love you.
I found your channel during my exam season (still going) and I have to thank you! Because your study video's have kept me sane and motivated. Congrats on graduating!
You inspire me so much, Vee 💕 Let's hope that I can get into Oxford this fall as well, and continue encouraging the change that you have inspired me to work for! You're incredible!
Congrats on finishing 🎉 absolutely love your videos and they’ve been so useful as a current yr12 they really help give me an idea of what university is like in general! Thanks 😊
we need to get this girl a bigger platform bcuz she speaks a lot of truth and there are a lot more people in this world that need to hear it so if u havent already SUBSCRIBE
Loved the video Vee, really informative and eye opening, even for someone who isn't planning on going to Oxford :) Thank you for being so inspiring, transparent and genuine!!
Bad news... EU students could pay a reduced tuition fee at the universities in the UK but this discount is gonna be taken away because of the Brexit... It'll be almost as hard for applicants from Eastern Europe to get to Oxford as it was in the 90s... This is no good at all. (You can imagine what I'm thinking now about Britons who voted for the Brexit...) Hopefully Oxford itself finds a solution because there is a whole bunch of, for example, Hungarians teaching there...
I´m so mad, angry and sad right now, because I am from Slovakia and my dream was to study in the UK. My parents work their a** off to pay for my private school with higher education standards than the rest of Slovakia. Their income is a lot higher than other´s, but it´s still nowhere near western european standard income. I still hoped they wouldn´t cancel the student loan for EU students, but they will. It was my only chance to pursue a good education and now it´s gone. I´ve been literraly crying for three hours now because of it.
The worst thing is that I am a very good student and I´ll have straight A-s this year, I worked my ass off, had countless of sleepless nights. I don´t want to study in my country, where your connections and dirty money can buy you a degree (both of our speakers of parliament plagiarized their degree)
thelittlegirllaura _ what about the Netherlands? What about Germany? Both countries have English courses and have veeeery good Unis. It’s not like England is the only country with good Unis. But good luck for your future :)
Yes I second the Netherlands! There's a big international community and great universities too. I did my MSc in Utrecht and it's 2k a year. Doing a PhD now :)
Anyone else here watching from the Caribbean? Also Vee, watching your journey via TH-cam have been a privilege I must say. Congratulations 🎉 on your success ❤️.
Vee, enjoyed your vlogs. I live in Oxf but not part of the University. Changing institutions, particularly one as antiquated as OXF is hard even for those who think they want change. But you should never give up and do encourage others to follow your footsteps. LMH is a great example of where OXF should be going and certain LMH are challenged by the University systems where change is slow. As you said the tutorial system at OXF was amazing and you can only get that at a handful of Unis who still have a college system. Just for the record, Bodleian would not admit me when I forgot my readers' card ad forced me to go to admissions for a day pass.
Vee, I am glad that you enjoyed yourself at Oxford and you did a degree which you liked very much even if it was a lot of work. The Open University in Milton Keynes was also a lot of work where I was studying almost every day for two years.
You are such an inspiration! Thank you for all of your videos, it has pushed me to work harder on my classes (am currently revising for exams using the repetition method😉)
Without black students at Oxford Uni, no one with credibility is there to fight the fight. Black people should continue go there and continue to fight for their rights!
Hey Vee🙃 I think you are such an honest and kind woman😌 thanks for sharing all your experiences🙏🏼 I do not know if you want to share this as well, but : you could film a video about the costs for those years that you have been a student at Oxford 🧐 like living costs and so on☺️ I am wishing you the best and lots of love from Germany 😉
i feel very bad and happy for you at the same time, bad because i would imagine this year and the next years are important to you but the fact that because of the virus and you cant go to the uni and you cant do much with an online degree especially since you got accepted into harvard at the most inconvenient time but im happy for you because you seem to accept and not giving up!!
When I started uni I was full of illusion, I am 3rd now and wouldn't recommend my university to anyone hahahah, i should have listened when they warned me.
My school Dominican Convent Harare in Zimbabwe also won’t say anything, that to me is them communicating their ignorance honestly. I feel as though they will never actively try to breakdown these status quos that were placed by our colonizers because Zimbabwe is a black majority country . As an Alevel student I’m so disappointed in my school. Most schools have made black@insert school name Instagram account with their admin yet my school 👀👀👀no where to be found . But anyway this rant is meant for another day 😹
I honestly think their increase in admissions was in part down to you and Malala. You should have been paid for your time!! It’s sad you felt let down but also excellent that LMH got it right. Their model needs rolling out to all halls now to make admissions equitable.
Hello gorgeous, lovely video :) I’m open to any advise or thoughts here - I just wanna learn and be better :) I start at oxford in October (COVID allowing) and I’m hyper aware that I’ve been able to get that place thanks to the privilege I have as a white girl - how can I help the university be a better environment, because the fact that black students feel unwelcome is just not okay. I want to help and make everyone feel safe and understood, but I don’t want to make anyone feel ‘aware’ of their blackness and make anyone feel patronised. Any tips or advise or just hearing anyone’s experiences would really mean a lot to me :) thank you and stay safe
Oxford are lucky to have you. Its pathetic that the attitude is “we are helping you”. Like, we are the ones keeping you in business? Students pay the fees? Oxford has the money to employ black people to do support black people . So fucked that the paying students have to do all this work to be respected. You’d think they could at least try to do the bare minimum.
Hi Vee, Black women are socialised to be masculine which works against them in every possible way (low marriage rate, programmed to be on the front line fighting like men, least protected, least desired, being encouraged to date down instead of up like everyone else despite being highly educated, highly successful and extremely beautiful). Three channels I advise watching which teach bw how to be strategic and how to work from their feminine energy are, one is called: Chrissie and the other one is The Pink Pill (by Christelyn Karazin), the third is listed below. Their channels cover these issues! Just watch at least one of their videos, you will see why I'm recommending them. The third is *Channel name: Chloe_* The video to watch is: *Problematic: This Rolling Stone Cover Says It All!* It's to do with blm and the women. Her channel is centred around black women and femininity. I hope you got this far and see that it is NOT s-p-a--m.
