My Molly fish had babies and I was looking for information on how to set up a 20 gallon for the fry. This was the only video I found that was useful. Thank you so much.
Yes! I love breeding fish, so it was really interesting hearing about all the different types of fish you’ve bred from easiest to hardest. Thanks for the great information!
One of the most interesting groups of spawners are the bubble nest builders. I've been looking to try pearl gouramis. Great info in this vid! Thanks for posting!
Hi! I subscribed a few days ago and have been binge-watching your channel. Love your stuff! However, I did notice this particular video does not have closed captioning available. I'm severely hearing impaired and it's quite difficult to understand you without them. Could I ask that you enable them for this video? Thanks!
Another awesome and easy elaborated video on topic of breeding. Thanks Jason! This is very useful and I'll use it as a guide when I have fries in my tank. Keep your informative and elaborate style of explaining flowing. This is a true way of learning in TH-cam.. it's like going to a free class. Well done Jason and thank you again! 👊😎👍
One of the best video done on Live babies, hatching and raising Fry’s. I wish I would of learned these lessons in the late 70’s & early 80’s. I lost hundreds of Neon Tetra Eggs, because on ignorance. I turned to a few local pet shops for advice, and I got different advice from each pet shop. It was hit and miss, until I got it tuned right. As a teenager, I would catch my own wild Guppies & Platy’s (Mollies, Neons, Cardinals and some others fish were in deeper waters) in the East, and Harlem Rivers in N.Y.C. I would acclimate the fish to tap water again, because the NYC rivers are brackish. I also learned that by trial & error. I learned from other teenagers who were in the same business as our rag tag team of Tropical Fish Hunters. I bred a few fish but never Cichlid Fish, because of the space and fighting issues. In the Summertime, we had to watch out for Bull Sharks, Stingrays, and Moray Eels which dropped their Fry’s in the N.Y.C. area rivers. I enjoyed watching this tutorial on hatching Fry’s and Live fish. It brought back lots of memories of teenage kids hustling in Tropical Fish. We filled a niche, believe it or not. Thank you for sharing!
I was the same way as a kid. We caught so many fish, turtles, frogs, snakes, crawfish and other animals at our local creek. Learned how to raise them from other kids. TH-cam would have saved us a lot of trial and error. : -)
Omg Ty cause my plecos won’t stop breeding. My brichardis won’t stop breeding !! And my plecos are in a tank all by themselves and I kept noticing different sizes and then I found eggs.
Very nice. I have learned bits and pieces through necessity in my few years of experience in the hobby. Nice to see a video on the basics laid out like this. Nothing like finding babies from a favorite species. It can be such a joy. But, understanding what is happening and having a starting point for research and knowing what to do to keep our tanks happy and healthy though these changes is essential when our fish start doing what they naturally do. Thanks again, Jason.
Awesome content Jason. Question for you though... For a night light, would a single LED or maybe a single blue or red LED above each tank be too much in general?
Thank you! I don't think any of the fish I have bred have been particularly difficult, not because I'm some great breeder, but I haven't really tried anything crazy. Peacock Gudgeons have the smallest fry of anything I've dealt with, but the vast majority of the fry survive just fine. : -)
Another great video. What about bristle nose plecos? I found one on the glass and it was eaten. I found 6 in my filter. They are on a breeder box. I did find a ton of eggs in a decoration. Can a egg tumbler work for them?
Righto, I've always had Bristlenose breed in the big tank without seeing it. Always catching fry on most off weekends. Time for me to setup a 2foot tank with caves to actually see the breeding of Bristlenose, lol I'm sick of capturing them. I will try out separate breeding project. Thanks Jason 👍🐠
I had black skirt tetra hatch... they are in a ten gallon. However, now some of the fry are sticking to the side of the glass and appear to be dead. What do you think I am doing wrong? The tank is quite clean and I have a sponge filter only. They are all by themselves. I'm at a loss and have searched everywhere.
What do you do with all the baby fish once you have them and they are all surviving? I have a 29 gallon tank that is completely full according to the 1 inch per gallon rule. Now, I have about 70 mollie babies and a few platy babies. They are all surviving and seem to be doing well. They are about 12 days old. My local shop said they would buy them but not until they are closer to adult size. What do I do until then? I can't have 70 - inch and a half mollies in my 29 gallon tank and I do not plan on buying any more aquariums to raise them in. I'm sure the older they get, the more load they will put on the tank. Any advice?
I have golden severum that have been laying eggs! Cant really find a good video on how to look after them as soon as they are laid! I.e what to feed and when.
What fish type are those?? The ones at 7:13. I went to a lake recently and caught wild baby fish I'm raising them but not sure the species. They look exactly like those you have.
Hi Im not sure if youll respond but I need help. My angelfish has just laid eggs after 12 months, but I have no male to fertilize them now. Can I add a new male angelfish to the tank to fertilize the eggs, or will he not care about them as he isnt her mate? Or...will she get aggressive as I am introducing a new fish to a tank with eggs that she doesnt know. I just really want to keep the eggs. In my mind, I could add a new male angelfish, and he will fertilize them and ill be good. Is this reality? Help!
I take my female out of my 75 and put them in a 44 tall or my 55 and I feed her three times a day to make sure she doesn’t eat them. I use both of those tanks to use as a grow out tank.
How do I make sure I am not feeding them too much? I’ve been trying to not overfed the adults. Now that I have babies, do I give the adults more food? If so… double the amount of food? Thanks for any help.
Just found 2 platy fry last night (well, this morning... 1:30am) and then this shows up in my feed today... TH-cam is kinda freaky sometimes. They're hanging out in the floating plants, but I don't have nearly enough cover. I hope they survive because I'm curious to see how they turn out; I think I know who the mother is, but I've only had these fish for nearly 2 weeks, so I think she was pregnant before I got her, and she was the only one of her kind in the tank I picked her out of (there were other platy colors in there).
@@PrimeTimeAquatics yeah, I'm excited! Although now I can't find them. Even moved the floating plants a bit. I don't know if they're just hiding very well or if something happened to them. :/ I'll probably get a breeder box or something just in case, especially since I have other platies and mollies. I already wanted to get more floating plants (and more plants in general) anyway, but this really pushes me to. I just have a really small budget. I'm surprised at how big the fry are/were. I remember the danio fry being like eyelash size (although it's been many years; could be remembering wrong).
It can take a while (I haven't tracked it), but I've noticed the string we use to tie it usually breaks down within a few months and the anubis's doesn't seem to go anywhere afterwards.

I haven't bred any so I didn't include them, but they are cool too!!
Thank you for making this video and about the Mollies. We are were SURPRISED with a baby, maybe more.

Absolutely! I have tumbled them before when the male accidentally kicked the eggs out of the cave.

Tough to say - they may not be getting any food if the tank hasn’t been running for a long time (the dry need really small food).

We have some plastic grow out totes (the ones that are black with the yellow lids) and use those for grow out.

Good question - the make won't fertilize the eggs. He would need to be there for the initial mating process.

How long dose it take for anubias nana to attach to drift wood?
It can take a while (I haven't tracked it), but I've noticed the string we use to tie it usually breaks down within a few months and the anubis's doesn't seem to go anywhere afterwards.
Awesome Video Thanks for sharing FishFam NJAE19
What about the catfish suckers fish? My friend says she might have a pregnant one.
What type?
PRIME TIME BABY!
What's up Jay!
So i have a goldfish she just gave birth. there are a few that are still alive but the rest look to be dead. how do we keep the rest alive? And make sure to get all the dead ones out
I would net out the dead ones and try to remove the ones that are still living to a new tank before they get eaten? Congrats!

Doesn't matter what fish it is, or how many times I've bred something, I always get excited to see new life in a tank!
Since I have platies they breed without me doing anything basically free fish
I checked my fish today and five of my guppies are prego Idk how to feel
Haha - you should have lots of babies soon! :-)
So handsome 😛
