There is no human alive (or dead) that could match Prince when it comes to playing instruments at the level he played at. There is no band living or dead that can match the JBs when you consider that they were excellent in every way, but especially so since they literally INVENTED Funk and were grooving to a rhythm that no one had ever heard before, thanks to James Brown. And, of course, how can any vocal group ever be better than the Temptations, who were tall, classy, attractive, and could sing and dance with such precision and passion that they quickly climbed to the top of the mountain and have never been replaced. Girl you ain't never lied. I I luuuuv me some David Ruffin. By the way, I also never get tired of looking at his beautiful, chiseled face, along with his long, lean torso. That man was gorgeous.💯❤❤
I swear we are so lucky to live in a world where these five men (and later Dennis Edwards) met each other and put their voices together. Everything about this performance is so incredible and yet they do it with such ease, it's almost hard to believe The Temptations were a real thing.
They were thorough professionals. They rehearsed those precise dance moves and routines, they were all super talents individually, but as a kid I was enraptured by Ruffin. I mean, compare their smooth stuff to what's out there today and it just looks like wild noise compared to the Temps. The Supremes too, when they were DRESSED. The matching gowns. The gorgous harmonies and moves. The Temps made their dance sequences look so easy, but I've tried to copy the sequence and it's not that simple. Even "my girl" the sequence - they looked very casual, but you have to focus to be uniform with the other 4. A mistake would really have stood out.
David was a bad boy!!!! are y’all seeing his Lil slick throw & grabs of the mic & hand gestures🔥🔥🔥 these men were were & are living legends!!!!!! Will never be anything close to this. Only God could of put this masterpiece of men together…. What a time to be alive to see them perform live!!!!! I’m 29 years old and is jealous I couldn’t witness this greatness!!!!

Polished ❤️ I can see how David’s head got big . He sang most of the tunes ,which made sense ,his voice was golden, but Paul had A GREAT VOICE AS WELL .
Honestly, his head should've been big, as a performer he was in a league of his own. His antics were nowhere of J-Lo, Madonna proportions- but he was well beyond their level of talent. Shame jealousy reared it's ugly head instead of love and support.
The greatest group EVA. The original five were all lead singers. If we could bring them back for just one more performance. The dance chorography is simply amazing, Paul was the best dancer and Melvin had the best baas i have ever heard. Dr. Doo Wop

I watched this performance live on ed Sullivan show. Still watching temps. Every day. Great time to be alive. Motown and rock n roll was awesome!!!!!!! Pure luv
It’s truly mesmerizing watching this in color. Before it felt as if these videos were lucid, almost imaginary. This makes it feel like it wasn’t so long ago (technically it wasn’t) & more vivid. Amazing what color video does
watch supremes 'cant hurry love' on ed sullivan...that also has a dreamlike quality...diana ross is a goddess in that as in others...all the glitter and sparkle...also temptations and supremes performing medley on ed sullivan...it's all quite dreamlike...like they are angels making their moves for the mere mortals to witness
I have one regret in life. I have seen the Temps live seven times over the years with various line-ups, but I never got to see the original guys, I was too young! David, Eddie and Paul had all left by the time I first went to a live show. Have to content myself by watching great vids like this. Thanks for posting.
Don’t know what it is, but whenever David Ruffin was in the background dancing, i always feel he didn’t belong there. He really was a showman and belonged out front. The way he sang, danced, held the mic etc that’s a frontman.
Me too, I feel the same way because David basically comes to life when he sings it’s like he take on another persona, when he in the background it’s like their closing or caging him he need to be in front at all times lol I know Everyman carries the group but he was the group he was gifted and special.
He looked into it. Some videos he does look disinterested, but he’s having fun here. Of course he turns it up when he’s on lead. I notice whenever it’s his turn he always snaps his fingers before he takes the lead.
Truth he wanted to go solo but like so many other artist berry put him on the shelf after leaving the temps David was also pissed because they were not getting paid what they should've and Otis n the rest didn't bk him up on it when he sued berry David had a solo contract with them aswell and he wanted off Motown
Christian Payton played Paul Williams so good. Down to the way he moves talk and dance. Amazing, they all did a job acting of the legendary temptations ❤. Cholly Atkins. Although Paul Williams initially did their choreography. Then Berry Gordy hired a professional dancer.
Paul played Paul so well! All the actors from the movie had their moves and mannerisms down to a T. So awesome!!
Gotta be my favorite voice of all... Ruffin was that guy 😤
MINE TOO❤❤❤❤❤
Mines too, The One and Only David Ruffin. ❤️

Girl you ain't never lied. I I luuuuv me some David Ruffin. By the way, I also never get tired of looking at his beautiful, chiseled face, along with his long, lean torso. That man was gorgeous.💯❤❤
All by himself the best!!!💞
@@sandraatkins2539 ABSOLUTELY 🔥🔥🔥

I love all the Temptations, but my favorite will always be the one and Only David Ruffin. 💯❤️
Right
I heard that 💯🙌🏽🎤🤗
@Linda Hines Okay 💯 King David 👑🤴🏾🙌🏽🎤‼️
Yeah. I love David Ruffin too. He sings with so much passion and depth❤️
Seeker One, I totally, agree with you, David Ruffin, was the Man❤️
I swear we are so lucky to live in a world where these five men (and later Dennis Edwards) met each other and put their voices together. Everything about this performance is so incredible and yet they do it with such ease, it's almost hard to believe The Temptations were a real thing.
Yep...glad I was around during that period when music was great.
You can thank detroit for that
AMEN
Paul and Melvin had the most fun when they would do the moves...makes me smile every time. 😌😏🥰
I understand your pain but trust in our Lord and savior he will be there for you. Remember he love you and so do I. May he continue to bless you for the rest of your journey. Much 💘 Love Deacon Artis Graham.
That group, those moves, those voices💖. Today's singers have NOTHING on The Mighty Temptations!🙏🏿
Absolutely.
SHO NUFF TRUE!!!!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Damn, this is high powered force of humanity at its finest.
Wow, I can feel it in my bones. There are no comparison when it comes to the Temptations. Music for the soul.
And all these many years, later, it is Still Music for The Soul.
Greatest singing group of all time hands down.....
Shame jealousy reared it's ugly head instead of love and support.
i just can’t get over the joy in Paul lol !!! RIP to my personal favorite Temp !
Right! He just looks so happy all of em did even though I'm so young this has to be one of my favorite groups
@@KSLIME_17 most definitely one of mines !😅
Right !? He definitely is my fav too. he knew how to move lol
Best vocal group of all time period.
PREACH, Brotha!!!
We need our crooners and motown BACK.
@@tommas2674 ABSOLUTELY. That's one of the reasons I started a record label. Samarian Entertainment, LLC
The greatest group EVA. The original five were all lead singers. If we could bring them back for just one more performance. The dance chorography is simply amazing, Paul was the best dancer and Melvin had the best baas i have ever heard. Dr. Doo Wop
David Ruffin: Showstopper
Eddie Kendricks: Sweet and smooth
Paul Williams: Heart and Soul
Melvin Franklin: Fun and cool with bass
Otis Williams: Blending while being the glue that held them together
Temptations Forever.
Dynamite! Holy cow, that knee drop ...
Nothing beats the “im losing you” choreography
Salute to the choreographer of the steps to enhance the best group on Motown. These guys help build Motown wealth.
Cholly Atkins!
Yeah love their steps for sure! Paul Williams was a great choreographer for the group🤩🤩🤩
@@NOV123 though him and Paul wouldn't agree on everything
This was the choreography of the late, great Paul Williams!
@@NOV123 from Bflo, N.Y!
I agree. David was a natural entertainer. I'm 66 yrs old and still jamming with the Temps. Cant get enough of them since the 60' s
One of The Greatest Temptation Medleys Of All Time !!!.....This Was THE MIGHTY TEMPTATIONS At THE HEIGHT OF THEIR POWERS !!!!!......
Once you start listening to them, you can’t stop 😂
Certified fact 💯
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏾All 5 of Them The Originals were The Best!! Dennis and The Others were Pretty Good!! That Otis is Still Kicking and Singing May God Bless Him!!👏🏾
Eddie and David…the voices. But each member completes the magic of this powerful group.
I watched this performance live on ed Sullivan show. Still watching temps. Every day. Great time to be alive. Motown and rock n roll was awesome!!!!!!! Pure luv
You’re so blessed to have experienced this in real time! Time is such a precious jewel 💎 and you’re a living witness of that 🙏🏾
Wowww just look how David ruffin spin around and drop down with that mic.
Amazing!!! He was
David and Eddie was TOO much. Swagger, flair and smooth
Yessss!! ☺️
The transitions from one song to the next is so smooth....
David Eli Ruffin, Eddie Kendrick, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin. The Emperors of Soul. Could never be duplicated.
You forgot Otis williams
the finesse from each one of them on stage is impeccable
Man them dudes were cold!! Now I see why that was my pops favorite group!!🙏🏾💪🏾
their individual and collective voices represent the best of Motown sounds. Tremendous talents. RIP.
It’s truly mesmerizing watching this in color. Before it felt as if these videos were lucid, almost imaginary. This makes it feel like it wasn’t so long ago (technically it wasn’t) & more vivid. Amazing what color video does
Facts. But look how Paul went off on I'm losing you . He danced with ease. It's better in color no doubt 💯
Exactly; thankfully, CBS used absolutely state of the art equipment then.
watch supremes 'cant hurry love' on ed sullivan...that also has a dreamlike quality...diana ross is a goddess in that as in others...all the glitter and sparkle...also temptations and supremes performing medley on ed sullivan...it's all quite dreamlike...like they are angels making their moves for the mere mortals to witness
They were something else
Boy o Boy i just can't stop watching these groups performing
The greatest vocalist group ever. PLAIN AND SIMPLE..
When Ruffin was with them they had this aura about them that said you were witnessing something special.Their magnetism just floors you!
Love Dennis, but David is just so special
1:48 I love the run on cloudy
I have one regret in life. I have seen the Temps live seven times over the years with various line-ups, but I never got to see the original guys, I was too young! David, Eddie and Paul had all left by the time I first went to a live show.
Have to content myself by watching great vids like this.
Thanks for posting.
If you didn't see Thee Original Temps, you really didn't see them. Sorry 😄
He can feel it in his bones, any day u'll be gone - ooh baby i'm losing u?...Genius who wrote this stuff
Paul! I love you and will never forget your kindness and soulfulness--way back in 1966!
The Temptations are out of sight. The best group ever.
Charisma!
He looked into it. Some videos he does look disinterested, but he’s having fun here. Of course he turns it up when he’s on lead. I notice whenever it’s his turn he always snaps his fingers before he takes the lead.
Truth
Truth he wanted to go solo but like so many other artist berry put him on the shelf after leaving the temps David was also pissed because they were not getting paid what they should've and Otis n the rest didn't bk him up on it when he sued berry David had a solo contract with them aswell and he wanted off Motown
WOW! WOW! WOW! Young people of today, this is music. These are voices! They have more talent than Taylor Swift wishes she had!
I love the way Eddie gives the mike to David, as if saying to him: "C'mon, sing it now, man!". 🙂👏🏻
This should show 164 MILLION views! Those were memories that bring smiles, tears, and pure joy because of these amazingly talented Black Men!!!!!
David was just more than awesome!
Can't find the words to say how good he really was💞
Christian Payton played Paul Williams so good. Down to the way he moves talk and dance. Amazing, they all did a job acting of the legendary temptations ❤. R.i.p Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, and last but definitely not least David Ruffin. The Temptations is one of my favorite biopic. I felt like I knew them personally every time I watch it. Every last one of them brought something special to that group. I love to see them dance around in a circle everytime my favorite part. Each one of them had their own Swag. I wish I would've meet them back in the day.
He definitely captured Paul's charisma
Absolutely!
Wow just wow that’s Motown legend... the Emporers of Soul... David Ruffin was just amazing
The Temptations is the greatest soul group ever !
Multiple iconic voices in ONE group! And better live than on record✔️
Temptations were just fantastic on the ed Sullivan show ed Sullivan was also real on the really bigs I give ed Sullivan lots of credit always had good singers on his including the motown acts
The Temptations and Smokey and the Miracles are probably the best groups ever
Greatest R&B Male group all time, Temptations for Ever.
wow! the quality of this video was just WOW
This is pure entertainment! These bruthas ripped it up! Could you imagine them playing at that time in Detroit or the Apollo? The roof would’ve been blown off!
Oh Yes,I heard they were out of tbis world.
They played many times at The Opollo Theater I seen them got a kiss on my cheek and a signed pic. David or Eddie was not with the group they had left . Ollie was not with them either Dennis was
Never can get enough of greatness.
This performance by The Temptations has to be one of the best performances ever!
Ok, so that's why everyone luv them, and say they're the best of all times.👏
