This is a great simple and fast method for cooking Mexican black beans. Some people say rinse them but in the case of canned black beans, if you rinse you will take away the creamy flavorfull liquids! If you're worried about sodium buy the no salt added kind! Thanks for posting this recipe😊
At the beginning fry loads of different colour peppers with the onion. Fry slowly for ages until water disappears and you get almost a pulp. Add some red chilli's as well and to save money buy dried black turtle beans. Big bags are cheap. Soak overnight and boil until done. Delish!

I have been following your black bean patty recipe for like a year now. I searched "how to cook black beans" and you popped up as the #1 recommended video and I said "it's the black bean patty chick!!" Hahaha thanks for teaching me how to cook!
You should always wash the beans when you use canned beans and throw the water away, that’s where the indigestible starches are .... learned that at a Jason Wyrick evening
Or you should follow the recipe. The liquid is completely edible and there’s nothing wrong with it. Whether or not to include it is a matter of the desired texture of the recipe.
Well, these will go great with your Carne Asada (which is currently marinating in the fridge). I always forget to soak my dried beans overnight, so this recipe will definitely come in handy!
I salted ground pork, let it sit and then cooked them. When your black bean dish was done, I put the ground pork ON TOP, so it would remain a different flavor. When they ate them combined, the pork with the bean dish, had retained there own flavors, and was delicious. (The trick was for the pork to have it's own distinct flavor and not be completely absorbed by the bean flavor.).
Today I whipped up this recipe then googled to see if was close Lolol mine is 100%?better Cups of black beans soaked over night with 10 cloves of garlic Green red and yellow peppers and two onions and a cup or so maybe two of water boiled on low today for two hours and damn this is good better then a restaurant. Then again I eye everything so go by guess what you need not too much water watch that. Lolololol. Oh I added salt ground pepper chili powder paprika 6 bay leaves turmeric alittle and alittle onion flakes. Love creative cooking it’s the best. I also smashed it with potatoes masher to make more creamy.
It is difficult to find not canned beans in some countries? I always think that it’s cheaper and easy to get bagged beans, although it is true that sometimes it is a headache to clean the beans and soften them.
is that how the true authentic mexican restaurants do this…Some Yes, and some No. While I agree with u about canned beans need to drain and wash, normally I drain n wash, but for the perfect type of texture, leave it as is, especially when using a GOOD QUALITY can if beans. Me I like to use peruvian/yellow/canary beans refried…outta this world

Yeah, very versatile. I keep stocked up on black beans and rice and decide later what I want to eat Black beans and Steak Black beans rice and chicken Black beans and pork Black bean salsa or dip Black bean and tilapia black bean and salmon When I've got some left but it's time to make more, I'll throw the rest in a stew or casserole or chilli To me, black beans are less of a "side"... more of a staple like milk or eggs. I also throw beans into the slowcooker with chicken liver and bones from steak and pork chops as a treat for my dog (take the bones out after slow cooking. You're cooking for the marrow. cooked bones are very dangerous for dogs because they get soft enough to swallow big chunks of... but can do serious damage to a dog's intestines) ... also... if you try this, don't overfeed this to your dog. Liver can cause overdoses of vitamin A. This is a GREAT healthy treat for your dog... but it shouldn't be your dog's regular food. It's far too nutrient dense for that. Have your dog get their macros somewhere else.
The best way is to use a pressure cooker. Fry your onions and add the spices like in this video. Then add them along with dry beans to the pressure cooker, top with twice the volume or water than beans, salt and a little vinegar. Pressure cook for about 45 minutes and they're perfect.
@@lucybellescott7531 If you're using dried black beans that havent been pre-soaked, then yes. I actually do 40 minutes now as I like them slightly firm.
Eat beans almost every day so I'm not anti bean, but I gotta tell ya the lard is better for you than the beans. Lard is one of the best fats you can use for cooking.
Nothing wrong with lard. People have used it for thousands of years. Seed oils are new and oxidize and cause cellular inflammation when heated. CVD was rare 100+ years ago when most people cooked with animal fat. Study up. Also, name calling means you already botched your issue.
@@Profile.4 THE SAME? Oh, so you haven't had dry pulses ever? How sad. In Europe we use dry pulses mostly as the flavour, and texture can't be compared. A different thing all together. Try it and you will probably never go back.
“Restaurant style Mexican black beans” Having grown up in a very Spanish household with traditional cooking, the second I saw two cans of black beans, I had to keep watching the train wreck. This is as “restaurant Mexican” as Taco Bell.
Lots of restaurants don’t soak and boil their own dried beans because it’s pretty pointless when you can’t tell the difference. But feel free to keep tearing others down. I’m sure it really builds your life up.
Also spanish people are from spain in europeand are spaniards and their cooking is paella and stuff that have nothing to do with latin america/mexican stuff. You mean latin household??

Thats a lot like any indian style of making gravy vegetables
Very similar -- main difference I find between Indian and Mexican cuisine is the inclusion of ginger and the cooking temperature
