- Finally here's a video fully dedicated to the new Ferrari's GT3-class weapon: the 296 GT3. During the last few months I managed to record various 296s in action at Monza Circuit for test days organized by Kateyama and get some extra clips during the recent Hankook 12 hours of Monza by Creventic.
The 296 GT3 is powered by the Tipo F163CE engine, a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, 120° V6 engine which is also used on the 296 road car. The main difference is that the GT3 racers doesn't have the electric unit of the 296 GTB, in compliance with the class regulations.

one of the few instances where the road car sounds better than its racing counterpart
along with M4 GT3, LFA GT
Yeah at the end of the day, the TTV6 configuration will never be truly loved. The last decade of torque monsters are barely remembered. It’s the sound that matters above nearly all else.
C8 Z06 GT3.R
@@snail415the Indycar TTV6 sounds awesome but they also rev to 12k rpm which can’t really be done in GT
@@snail415i mean they can sound better without mufler😅
If nothing else the racing version proves just how hard they worked on the road car to make a turbo V6 sound beautiful. Great content as ever!!!
Thanks a lot for your comment!
@@19Bozzy92i also love the road and racing versions of those cars.
Just love the sounds of that GT3 flat 6 in the background all over the place. Just so intoxicating 🎉
it was fantastic to see the double victory of Ferrari. At Le Mans and at 2023 24 Hours of Nürburgring
the with the Ferrari 296 GT3.
Definitely not the most exciting car when it comes to sound, but well, the 296 seems to be a great design, I was impressed to see it win the Nürburgring 24hrs. Amazing footage (and sound) as always, thanks a lot!
That was a 488
@@rafaelcalha Sorry to say but you are wrong, it was a 296 gt3. I looked it up to be sure and Damien was right.

Amazing machine!!
Ciao Bozzy, bellissimo scoop questo video 👍🏁🇮🇹
4:14 yes
Looks & sounds fun
Always excellent videos, as a part Sicilian, Grazie!!
9:15 -9:35. Nice.
Love the sound of that 120 degree V6. Quite efficient and more economic, and has a sound similar to the Acura NSX GT3.
Since you mentioned the engine being 120 degrees, do you know why the angle of the cylinders matters?
@@thediamondlord8528 possibly for better counter balance and efficiency.
@@thediamondlord8528its lower center of gravity lower the whole cars cog by a significant margin. In the 80s they found that lower by 1 cm equals 2 tenths a second per lap improvement.
Reason 2 is this big v angle allows for a hot v turbo configuration where they can place both turbos on top of the engine v, which is great for packaging
3: this 120 degree V engine is as well balanced as a v6 can be, meaning good reliability, something very important for endurance racing
4: the fact that they already produce this engine in regular ferrari production cars means that all their wins from the further engine development for racing it in ensurace series will bring more advancements and prestige to the road going version of the car. I mean, its a pretty good sell when ferrari could advertise the road going 296s as cars with the Le Mans winner engine.!
FXX K EVO Still has the most brutal downshifts I ever heard to this date.
It's so amazing the engine v6 twin turbo hybrid😍
Except, the GT3 cars aren't hybrid. It's why the NSX was forced to sideline it and make it exclusively RWD in order to compete in GT3.
Lots of haters, but winners are grinners, and personally, I like it. Cheers @19Bozzy92, appreciate your work brother! ✌🇦🇺
Thanks you so much dude! 🙏
Che rombo di Motore 💝❤
Such a dream machine
This is one of the very few cars in this video where road cars are realistically better than racing counterparts.
I suppose it depends on what you mean by "better"
I heard a couple V10's that sounded nice....
you hit the dream my friend love that you still love your foucs RS the best one
Great
Great looking car and performance, but I far more enjoy hearing the Porsche GT3 Cups and Lambo Huracans in the background.
This car is unfortunate further reality that while Ferrari remains competitive, their cars have unfortunately lost their soul more and more as time passes. I really miss the 458 GT3's. 😢
I know what your getting at but I wouldn't put it like that. For Ferrari to lose it's soul, they would have to lose interest in racing and competing. If the performance of the 296 GT3 and 499P LMH this year is anything to go by, that surely isnt the case, their soul is alive as it ever has been.
To me what they've unfortunately lost as have many other manufacturers downsizing and turbocharging thier engines have already, is the emotion. The Bark.
Yes the Ferrari Bark that complemented thier Bite which was just as vicious.
This is what is missing, and I can confidently say that Porsche, Mercedes, Audi and Lambo GT3 cars are the only ones still in tact with this emotion of sound. Mclaren and AM are honorable mentions (even though the latter has an Mercedes doner, it's still distinguishable)
This just makes you want to cheer for the NA GT3 cars more!
How many gas to be use?on practicing drive?let's say liters?
Imagine making a GT3 so good its currently being killed off, BOP-wise, in a regional series xD
Ferrari winning big in their GT and LeMans division
When I saw this car at Daytona this year and I peeked the engine and gearbox assembly I was so surprised. The engine in this thing is tiny, like I didn’t even recognise it. An engineering marvel that sadly produces a mediocre sound.
i like this car
nice
Nice body kit with silent mode
Lemans, N24, clearly Forza is on form. Stuttgart must be hot under the collar. Something is clicking at Fiorano.
Me recordó al Mclaren Senna y al porsche 918 una mezcla muy power
かっこいい😃
Was at the last 24hrs at Daytona and it's amazing how shitty the 296 sounds (if you could even hear it) compared to every car out there.
OMG where’s the volume 😮
I personally love the deep, understated tone of this car. Love a good loud exhaust scream, but this sounds badass just in a different way 🫡
7:06
1:25 turbo flutter?
TTV6
Of course it is fast but nothing can beat sound of N/A V10 Engine
Poor sound but the car is fast so❤❤❤
This car sound is amazing, but the new rules cut the sound!
Especially when you compare it with the terrific V10 at 8:52!
@@MarcSob22 probably
@@MarcSob22Not true, all the N/A GT3s are still fairly loud. It's the turbos that make the 296 silent. That thing is a rocket though, Oreca made one heck of a GT3 with Ferrari.
Fast and reliability is what matters at the end of the day and wins U races
The Lamborghini and Ferrari debate is settled at 2:25
I understand that the v6 is from the f1 development and having the 488 beat by the ford gt is motivation to use this engine in a flagship model. But ferrari should have gone back to their roots and stuck with a v12. If anyone knows how to race a v12, it's ferrari
Having the 488 beat by Ford GT? Dude what are you on? The 488 is the most winning car ever under GT3 regulations and at Ferrari they will be happy to replicate just half of those victories with this one…

Cars are losing sound year after year. Sad
0:20 did he get a penalty for this?
It's a test day, you can't get penalties during those.
@@Maenfy even if your conduct puts others' bodily wellbeing at risk needlessly?
@@borregoayudando1481 How does that put anybody at risk? Every one there was aware a car was exiting the pit lane and it wasn't crowded either. This is perfectly normal in many American Series for example even though there is a lot more going on with less space then here.
@@Maenfy just a bit close for comfort to the incident where that nascar driver killed another driver at a dirt circle event by doing some wheel spins and yaw to scare him off.
A car looking that good doesn't deserve a little quiet engine... Shoulda been a V8 just like before in my honest opinion
This question is not about this car, but the Lambos and Audis GT3:
Why are they still so louder compared to others in the grid? Is it because they dont have restrictors in their exhausts?
They’re not turbocharged.
They're N/A, but actually this v6 sounds good too.
You wouldn't believe it's the same engine as the street legal car
Y la base del 499p....
Wrap the car with a coulor that won't slow you down
One of the most beautiful GT3, but also the worst sound of GT3
I’d hate to see Ferrari forget what makes the prancing horse so special- visual and sonic art. I could care less how they place. IMO racing is not what really impacts their brand for the better.
looks scary, doesn't sound scary
down sizing and electrification - very toxic for ms. Just my opinion.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
So quiet, I've heard muscle cars louder than this.
That engine is not loud enough.
All I hear is GT3RS
How crap these cars sound. Ferrari used to have the sweetest exhaust note. Right now, modern racing is crap. People will grow up wondering what a real engine sounds like. It's a bit like the song ,"whose garden was this"
Motor racing sucks right now.
people now appreciate hearing muffled 2T V6s. They clearly have never heard the V12s, muscle V8 or v10 from the GT1 era before.
I mean you can still go to a track and hear the pretty glorious v10 Audis and Lamborghini’s, the Porsches sound great, the Mercedes and Bentley entries are thunderous. In the US it’s even better with the n/a Lexus and the ridiculously loud c8 corvette. Plus there’s more naturally aspirated gt cars from ford and corvette coming to Europe next year. It’s not all bad…
I think the V6 sounds better than the twin-turbo flat plane V8 from the 488, which sounds like a boring 4 cylinder
It's an engine inside a cupboard. So boring.
Well, it’s not a V8 that’s for sure.
Muy silencioso no me convence prefiero escuchar un porsche 911 rsr gte
Der hört sich nicht mehr nach Ferrari, sondern eher nach Großserie an.......😒😒
My lawn mower sounds better.
The sound of the car is horrible, it´s not racing sound.
Tiene que ser rapido, no sonar lindo , no dan trofeos por eso.
@@elpatolucas22 Ya. No vas a muchas carreras, verdad?
rice rocket..
worst sounding Ferrari ever , probably one of the worst in the entire combustion engine era
very sad transformation, a sad era to engine sounds
sounds bad to me....
new ferraris are so disappointing
