- Todays video is all about how I got into MEDICAL SCHOOL, my crazy journey and how I eventually got there. It really has not been easy but I can OFFICIALLY say I will be off to study Medicine in September and I couldn't be more excited. It may have taken a while but we got there in the end...
The more people you talk to, the more you realise nobody has a straight forward path. But when I made the decision to become a doctor, I was so nervous and worried that it was too late and that the path to get there was too risky. I really hope my 'non traditional' journey to medical school shows you not to be afraid to do things that aren't the 'norm' and that it's never too late to change your mind.

Sorry if I’m intervening, are you saying that Maths isn’t useful for Medicine? I was thinking of doing it, apologies if I’ve misunderstood xx
@@MsXJ-hh1ow I think it’s just that normally most ppl that apply to medicine take maths alongside bio and chem and it is extremely difficult

I’m on my gap year right now and I’m applying for medicine next year. I don’t really have any work experience and I don’t know how I’ll get any with COVID so I’m a little worried. Any advice ??
Try your best to contact as many people as possible, friends, friends of friends, anyone you know in the medical field. Unfortunately, connections really do help so anyone you kinda know politely ask them if they can help in any way. Keep trying until you find someone, however saying all this i know they are making exceptions this year because of COVID so look on the entry requirements for each medical school and see what they have said. i hope this helps x

Congrats on your achievements. I started working as a care giver in social care settings and I come from the Arts background. Already have a degree in Art lol I found my real passion which was helping people but I'm still debating which route to take psychology or medicine. Also I don't regret having done a totally different degree as it made me more mature. I'm happy for you and the journey is exciting!

Good video keep them coming, looking forward to following your story. Im currently studying psychology with the OU. My original intention was to work towards becoming a Clinical Psychologist but I've recently changed my focus and now aiming to be a Psychiatrist. So after I've completed my degree in a few years I will be applying to Med school as a grad student.

Trust me your videos are amazing and I love your style of telling stories from the beginning and sharing it with us perfection 👌🏼❤and btw today is my first day of seeing your videos I saw al biology tips which I loved and this video came up next and I also loved I am currently taking a2 biology as an international student and btw all my al biology mark will be on A2 as I didnt sit for an exam for as it was cancelled due to corona virus pandemic and lastly I agree with al maths is tough 😂😂🤦🏻♂️

also if you take, chemistry and biology it will keep many medical schools open for you to apply to, if you take another subject such as PE or Phycology this will help but taking other subjects like RE will show you are a well rounded person which med schools like

@ Kayleigh Harvey I don’t know you but I just want to say, have faith in yourself and take the steps you need to take to turn your dream to reality. You can do anything as long as you commit yourself to it and focus. All the best with your studies!
My mum was a nurse and then went on to be an ACP (Advanced Clinical Practitioner) which is kind of like being a doctor but isn't. There are so many routes you can go down

I’m currently doing my a-levels (bio, chem and history) and i hit the entry requirements for uni with my gcses (mostly 6s-8s thank god) and i start my new job as a care worker in a few weeks, do you have any more tips on getting into uni for medicine? :)

Thank you so much! Yes definitely, almost all work experience is relevant for medicine if you relate it back at interview or on your personal statement. This sounds like an amazing opportunity and I think you would learn a lot
