Why start at the roots with virgin hair? I hear the opposite in most of the tutorials for permanent color. I'm pretty confused now. I just want it to work the best...

I have learned not to do this as you can end up with what is called root flare. I always start at the back and work to the front, doing roots as I go. I once did it this way and I got that horrible root flare because of the color, it really was noticeable hope this helps. .

@@geminidream4347 I'm sorry I don't understand. Can you explain further please ( you start at the back roots or what do you mean by starting at the back?)? Also what if you're just wanting to do the roots and then you just want to spread color to the ends of the last 10-15 minutes-how do you avoid route flare in that case?

@@howwhatwhere258 Starting and the nape of the neck and working up to the forehead will stop what is called root flare.
If you start at the front and work to the back by the time the processing time is up, you will have left the top on longer than the back, causing the roots on the top of you head to become lighter than the color. This is called root flare. I could never understand this either until I had a professional hairdresser explain it to me and I started doing it this way. Now my color from the front view is blended so no one can tell you dyed it. Hope this helps?

The video says she's going lighter, not specifically blonde. You'd have to use a blonde dye to achieve this.
The same thing happens if you bleach it. Depending on your base colour, the hair will go red, orange, yellow and then white.
If you wanted to use this method to go lighter without going red, you'd just want to tone it after, just like with bleach 😊
