I can only assume that when (not if) Ubisoft melts down (they've already reached critical mass, I reckon), a bunch of small indie studios consisting of small clusters of passionate, talented devs will crop up from the ashes because that's usually what happens. ....But I've heard that Ubisoft is a weird case, that developers trained specifically to work there are very one-note; so even what few competent, passionate folks that would usually be the type to party up and form an indie studio might not actually be capable of finishing small indie projects by themselves afterwards. Being the rock face design specialist or lead architect of tree placement would make you barely more qualified than the average (tech-literate) person when it comes to making a game, because it takes so many *different* things to complete something. If the average Ubisoft dev is truly as one-note as I have been led to believe, you would probably need enough people to form a "AA" studio in order to actually make something. But who knows, maybe a "AA" studio consisting of a bunch of trained, practiced specialists all working on perfecting their small part of an intricate, immaculate pie could actually work. Especially when they don't have actively hostile management and what feels like a dozen other cooks stepping on their toes because Ubisoft seems to believe in development quality by quantity. (Or at least that's the impression I get from how many names and studios get attached to each product, at least last time I actually bothered to check.)

Perhaps a sign that the current TripleA studios are gonna be replaced by some of the Indie studios, a changing of the guards, so to speak, a change welcomed by the masses. It should also be noted that the criteria set is in fact illegal in Canada, the country Ubisoft is based in. I can’t imagine this will be allowed to last now that these have been made public. Edit: for those saying the law isn’t applied fairly or an excuse can be made, think about this; the company is in danger of going under, with a general negative view by the public, do you think the government is just gonna turn a blind eye to a company that can’t grease their palms properly? I think that the same corruption that allowed these practices in the first place will be the reasoning for them to be put on the chopping block, so then the government can fund a new studio that can actually make good returns and pump the economy up and grease the palms of the government, even corruption has its own form of order to it.

Because mah ideology is more important to them
That "woman/non-binary" hiring practice is ILLEGAL in the United States. Federal Law states that companies cannot hire nor fire individuals based on race, sex, gender, ability, age, ethnicity, etc.
@@AISlopTheatre So, then...why isn't France holding Ubisoft accountable?
@@L337M4573RK
Someone needs to report them.
Is it? Because I'm sure I've heard about similar programs in the USA.
@@MarkDeSade100 Theyre also forgetting the numerous tax payer funded programs that "Promote Equality" while actively choosing pwople of color over whites for said "Diversity" when it comes to hiring practices
@@MarkDeSade100 Look it up yourself (I'm not your babysitter)! Those programs are deliberately violating Federal Law, but...the current administration isn't holding those programs accountable due to DEI/ESG/BRIDGE practices. Ubislop keeps failing and folks are just grabbing their favorite foods watching it all happen 😎🍿🥤
Ubisoft needs to feel comfortable not having any customers
*I better get my Mario and Rabbits DLC*
*This company is not going to around much longer*
if ubibroke started selling IPs, i swear to god that rayman and rabbids goes to nintendo. funny cartoon creatures would be a appropriate fit for nintendo
they will turn rayman into gay ahh game
they better shut down before that happens
Their "Identity" is more important to them than reality.

this week alone has been bad for UBI
has been a raging dumpster fire for a few years but yeah it's fully ablaze this week
UBI!? Unsweet baby Inc?!
Ubisoft has made bad decisions after bad decisions it's hard to believe nobody in the company said wtf this is clearly a bad idea. I honestly feel bad for their PR department that constantly has to try and clean up their messes.

Ubisoft is speedrunning their way to Bankruptcy. It's almost astonishing to watch.
Most astonishing is how they manage not finishing yet.
Their hiring practices are apparent in the quality of their games
Imagine the job interviews at Ubisoft:
"I see you've been a graphic designer for 15 years, worked on multiple indie games, quite popular ones, you seem to have a good resume, but what are your pronouns?
"My... pronouns? You mean my gender? I'm... I'm a man. I don't understand what's that got to do with the job"
"Yeaaaah... we'll get back to you... thank you for your time..."
Gonna be replaced by China. Hoyoverse is a titan and now we have game science too. China is going to dominate
Oh and also regarding Canada. CBC had these exact same hiring guidelines, they don’t apply the law equally
Not really, they can make up a story and appeal about it being a Bona Fide Occupational Requirement. Exceptions can be made for certain jobs.
Traudu is going to bail them
I thought Ubisoft was based in France
The 3 players left in Skull and Bones are content creators making content to mock the game or making a TH-cam Documentary xD

why can't Ubisoft staff, management, and c-suite just make good games, sell them for the expected retail price ($40-$60), and make money? what the fxck is wrong with these people?
Literally, 'cause they are management, not devs. Ubi have excelent artists, tho.
1:15 wait... thats illegal? But yea nah id just lie tbh

Good. You wanna make slop? Finish it.
Heres to another 10 years of pissing away capital and creating nothing of value, Ubisoft.
Truly is amazing how there is blatant advertised discrimination happening and no one is challenging it in courts. Hire the people needed to do the job to the best of their ability, stop treating human beings (no matter their race or gender) as a checkbox on a list, it’s reductive and ridiculous =\
At this point it's only a matter of time before we see a second video game crash...
Yep. The only reason I played Black Flag was because I wanted to play a Pirate Simulator.
Law suit time have fun Ubisoft because there are lawyers talking about this and they saying what they are doing is illegal
I think it's gonna get rougher once that AC drops.
That is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Even if they know a lawsuit from the Japanese government would result, they probably will hope it sells enough to cover those expenses.
I've never been this excited for the launch of a game I'm not gonna' buy.

Idk much about EO laws in France, but pretty sure that’s just illegal here in the US. And for good reason.
France is based on universalism, so it won't fly. Race/Ethnicity statistics are banned.
Everything makes sense, now. Every-goddamn-thing.
Misandry as part of the blame game again? Plenty has already been said about that whenever Toxic Feminists blamed men for their pitiful problems. Same old boring excuse as usual.
That's the funniest part.
It's failing as usual and everyone grabs snack to see the companies downfall and feminism being stuck with the same pay than before
I think if these corporations really cared about inclusion and diversity, they would be encouraging women to work with men and men to work with women. They would teach mutual respect for that's the foundation for a grand partnership. A lesson corporations seem to forget is that women and men need each other. Maybe I'm a little jaded, but the vibe I get is that corporations want to sow division. And that's not right.
In france, know that it is entirely illegal and they could get sued by every single male employee that has been discriminated against in the company by that policy. But it probably wont happen because frznch culture is to avoid suing because it costs too much money for potential return.
How can those people be so disillusioned? They are in a literal hugbox when they do something that's dead wrong they hug each other and lie to each other and say nothing is wrong, it's crazy.
No wonder all their recent games are shit. Makes a lot of sense now
"Ubisoft F%$ked Up (AGAIN)" not really news at this point
What's stopping anyone from identifying as non-binary?
I can count to more than 0 and 1! I manage up to at least 20. So I'm non-binary!!
Looking at this critically… is all gender itself technically not “non binary” since there are so many different genders?
nothing. That is what i don't get with this requirement, the only way to reliably do that would demand a certificate from a medical professional or from the government, but then it could be discrimination too because not everyone can get this. It took years until finally in November this year in germany i can legally change my name and gender without having surgery...
@desertfisg74 no need to be an idiot. you know what nonbinary means.

I think using the word woke too much is a bad idea. In this instance, call it what it is: sexism
The Government: "The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin."
Ubisoft: "That's cap. Watch this."
What? You thought Ubisoft was being discriminatory just now? Oh, no, I'm afraid they've had a reputation in the industry for many, many years as being excessively nationalist, linguist and racist as well. Basically, if you aren't a France-national, you're a second class citizen. If you aren't from Quebec instead, you're a third-class citizen. If you don't speak French, you're a fourth-class citizen. It goes downhill from there. This isn't exactly private knowledge, it's just kind of openly known if you work in game development in general. And that's even before we look at how they treat their contractors, which are definitely non-citizen status entirely.
