This will be a repeat of the anime/Manga translators that lost their jobs due to injecting their ideology into works of art they had no right to, still to this day months later they still ranting about how it was unfair 😂
In their mind, they are winning since the reviews are positive. I think Bioware did a move mid-development and added the lgbt+ stuff on purpose just for this reason. They knew the gameplay and story were meh, and needed something to spark the internet machine. Create something so specific for one part of the player base, all others will reject it. BUT the minority will feel like they NEED to support the game, as the narrative will make them feel like the underdog with something to prove.

"I don't feel like I'm a man or a woman" What exactly does being a man or woman feel like? I'm a man, and for the life of me, I cannot put words to what it feels like to be a man. I can't even describe what it's like to feel like me. It's just a reality that I live. One that could never be encapsulated by a single word, or even a handful of words. As far as I can tell, identifying as non-binary is the same as saying "I don't like who/what I am, but I care a lot about what others think about me and can't think of an easier way to get validation."
My assumption is they don't feel good with themselves and think the grass is greener on the other side. Nope we're just as fked. You have to work and endure for your happiness.
I can describe what being a man feels like: great. I don't make myself the victim or things other people's fault, I'm not overly emotional and I can hold myself to the standards I ask of others, I can do physical labor up to and including building all of civilization, I can use reason, logic instead of deception and mind games, and know that I'm responsible for what happens to me so I understand the consequences of my own actions.
I mean, 'gender' (word made up by a jewish pedohile) dysphoria is a real phenomenon but this whole non-binary thing is purely attention seeking behavior and wanting to be special. Same for like 90% of transexuals who 'identify' as trans and not as the opposite sex
And they're not boasting about the number of sales, neither them nor the media, we all know if the game was selling well, they would be publishing that everyone, just to say it's a win against gamers.
@Acuas I calculated the sales using Steam's numbers only last night or the day before, and I compared it to its supposed budget of $250mil (Don't know what actually is but that is the only thing I can find). Assuming all 70k players actually bought the standard game for $60 then Bioware only generated %1.7 of its budget. If they all bought the $80 deluxe edition, only 2.2% of the budget was generated. Again, using only Steam's numbers. If Steam numbers are that pathetic then I am wondering how petrified the devs and writers truly are when estimating the actual numbers for console, both Playstation and XBox.
@@EJ_RedWhile it's pretty obvious, that veilguard is not sold well, your method of calculating makes no sense. 70k peak doesn't mean that only 70k people bought it. It means that hundreds of thousands of people bought it or even more. (And ofc sales still continue, there are consoles and yada yada)

@@JailBo-id7ko The proper comparison here would be Baldurs Gate 3, both long anticipated giant RPG's with a baked in Fanbase. Now as it stands, Veilguard got a recent top of 84K 2-3 days after launch, Baldurs gate 3 got 870K on Launch. Looking at the 24 hour peak for Veilguard it is even more well, sad, BG3 a game released over a year ago actually had a 89K 24 hour peak just today lol.
Got banned from the steam forum in a thread where everyone was saying “return to form”. Someone said DA had 80k players and I responded with “BG3 has 82k. Return to form”. I got banned for spamming 😂
Yeah I got hit with the banhammer on dragonage reddit. Been posting multiple times there before but when a post asked about the game and if "HR is in the room" is a thing. I wrote about my thoughts on the gameplay being too simple and repetetive and just my general thoughts on the game like how I don't think this is anything like the old DA games, it isn't dark fantasy and such. But overall that I just feel bored playing it and wanna do something else. Then on the HR thing I wrote about the Isabella interaction being one of the examples and me understanding why people say what they do about HR. Just an hour or so later I had my post removed with a removed for "Bigotry, sexism, racism, homophobia, culture war tourism etc. is not tolerated" response. Then I got a message that I was perma banned from the reddit. Which shocked me cause it was my first warning + ban ever on reddit and all I did was write about what happens in the game, though I do admit I did exagerate on how cringe and over the top that interaction was and how it sounded like a sermon to players + the fact that my impression of the game overall is negative.
For fun, I did some generous number crunching for potential sales numbers. Assuming they had a budget near Inquisition's, they'd need more than $150m to break even. Taking the current all-time peak of 84,832 players and adding 25% more for potential extra players, we're looking at maybe 106,040 current sales on Steam. Let's be generous and say that not only are PS5 and Xbox Series S sales equal in number, but everyone bought the $80 Deluxe Edition. That would be $25,449,600 in sales. So not even close to breaking even to the lowest possible budget, which they'd need to sell 1.5m more Deluxe Edition copies to do. This is probably not even counting the money used for advertisements.
Well that is kind of obvious that all this marketing, including journalists is to scrub at least partial money from confirmed losses. All this banning from forums and controlling medial narrative is specifically for that to recover at least 10% of what they probably confirmed as a fail project.
I'd say the peak concurrent players would amount to around 10% of sales in the playform (BG3 for example had 900k peak players and sold over 10m at Steam), not 75% like you did. Still don't think they broke even just yet though.
Meanwhile monster hunter wild-Nearly 500k Activist freaks-THAT DOESNT COUNT!! Space marines 2- look at any of our metrics Activist freaks-NEITHER DO YOU!!

Well the Monster Hunter Beta is free and available to everyone, unlike Veilguard which has a price tag, so I do agree that that doesn't REALLY count. But even then, there's even some indie titles that beat Veilguard. Monster Hunter really isn't an indicator for the failure of Veilguard. But the other games are.

I really dislike how the term "review bombing" is used so often, even when its not applicable. The funny thing is that I used to not care about a character being gay or transgender or whatever in a video game. But they have pushed this woke agenda so far that as soon as I see a gay character or similar the game is an instant do-not-buy from me.
I still cant get over how ridiculously immature they are. I mean holy shit, silencing critics, having tantrums online, calling streamers and gamers names, its just insane behavior for supposed "adults." They have literally inserted themselves into their own game, and expected the rest of us to just jump in and play. As i said, absolute insanity. Not to mention citing so called game "journos" as a source for bragging rights is the perfect diarrhea icing on this humongous crap cake.
These people simply have lived in their little echo chambers, where everybody thinks and talks the same way, for so long they have forgotten how to handle dealing with people who question or disagree with them. Throwing these tantrums is the only thing they know to do as a result. When rational brain fails, emotional brain takes over. They may have reached an age where they are legally considered adults, but their life choices (re echo chamber) have prevented them from maturing to proper adult level.
@clefsan true true. You'd think they'd want multiple perspectives so they can manage their emotions when someone disagrees with something they say. Y'know, the way most of us adapt to arguments without lowering ourselves to such levels.
That scene with Taash just pisses me off. Her mother is clearly trying to understand her daughter and just needs help and some time. But Taash lashes out at her in such a nasty way. Her mother is trying to be accepting, she just doesn't understand. And it's clear she is trying her best to do so because their race has their own term for someone who doesn't identify. This doesn't come across as dramatic or heartbreaking as they think it is. It just makes Taash look nasty.
It's highly likely the scene is an argument one of the writers had in their own head. If course it comes off as nasty, it's their inner prejudice coming out.
How old is Tash meant to be? She's acts like an obnoxious teenager in that scene. This game was seriously written by people who never matured past high school.
Also they added that in inquisition and it's so wrong. Qunari cut the tongues of their mages and chain them and said mages accepts that like norm. Their ideology is the last one to care how you identify.
Did Jason Schreier really say "chuds"? Unironically? I keep hearing this guy is THE only good video game journalist out there (or _actual professional_ journalist)... is this really the best they got? Genuinely asking, since I don't follow him a lot...
Don't believe the hype. He's a tool as much as any of them. Even sat on the history of abuse a developer did because he'd either lose access or shared in their PR ideology.
Schreier does a good job of getting the industry insiders to speak up. Gets good info on development, layoffs, corporate strategy etc. That doesn't mean his reporting is just an objective, neutral reporting of the facts though. His opinions on VR for instance are the opinion of someone who can't play it due to motion sickness. His coverage of VR always has that perspective. He's also clearly on the left of American politics when it come to the American culture war (he was a Kotaku editor after all), and no doubt that comes through similarly.
@2:25 - This guy's mind was never the same after writing that one bullshit article from about 10 years ago where he said that liking the Sorceress from Dragon's Crown for her milkjugs makes you a .PDF file somehow, only to get mailed by that game's concept artist a free portfolio of almost-naked sweaty dwarfs in reply.
Dragon Age did actually top Steam’s sales charts, but it didn’t even maintain that for 24hrs and is very easy to do for any game with half decent marketing and no competitors on launch day.
@@YAH93 On steam alone no. with consoles combined it will probably hit that. Thought through bad word of mouth sales might slow down a lot after launch. RE4R hit around 4 million copies 2 weeks after release with 110k players at launch. So I imagine the numbers for Veilguard will probably be around 2-2,5 mil.
If this was "return to form", why is it then that players is disapointed, then? Wouldnt critics and players agree that this game is worthy of the name DragonAge? And if it was 7-10/10, why does it exist discrepancies between journos, players and reviewers?
On the first day Asmon said he expects about 100k concurrent players during the weekend, I thought that it will be between 85 and 90k. Well... best weekend days are over, we're just after the peak and Veilguard was close, but didn't reached even 85k. Funny thing: Origins and Inquisition spiked today...

Same happened to the steam reviews apparently, someone was following the numbers and noticed that the original mixed rating leapt up to mostly positive and at the same time the total reviewer number dropped by a thousand lol
The true killing blow is the comparison it has with Dragon's Dogma. Nearly the same genre, comparable setting, similar gameplay - yet DD is a niche game. The original Dogma was not that popular, it was a cult hit at best. The sequel, 12 years removed from the original with not even half of that time in development - likely 4 years - had 228k near launch as a peak. Not nearly that many stuck around to complete it, often citing performance or general burnout from the game's pacing, but that's nearly Three Times Veilguard's launch. Bioware is supposed to be one of the tentpole franchise holders, one of THE Game Studios comparable to Bethesda or Blizzard. A known name that is World Famous. And they got 80k. That's like a brand new Star Wars movie launching to a $400 total box office. It's really good compared to some of the less popular media but showing that to the investors who were promised a billion dollar blockbuster? That's a Fail. That's an Investigation. That is an in-house riot waiting to happen. But it had butch lesbians and top scars so it Won. Their standards are so low that just existing, no matter the sunken cost, is a victory.

I think what's more telling is the fact that multiple review places tried to make it sound like this game was the best thing since Wukong but nobody bought the lies. Their irrelevance has been going on for a while now and I think it's only a matter of time before they implode. The venture capital is gone. Unless they somehow earn people's trust back and go back to being the one place gamers go to for reviews they're on borrowed time. With how much they'd have to do to get there, and the amount of time it'd take, it isn't going to happen. All of the bridges have been burnt and nobody listens to them any more. What's hilarious is movie critics have done the same exact thing.

Since negative reviews being hidden on steam, Some people decide to put it in recommended/positive review but when you read the review you actually noticed that they are not praising the game nor trying to ask people to try the game instead they trying to tell people about their bad experience in the game and why you should avoid it.
What I find interesting is that it doesn’t seem to take much to be on the top seller list on Steam. Puts into perspective whenever I see games on there now.
I was always wondering what "chud" even means, but I think I understand it now. Chud = person that can't be tricked into buying the crap that shills are advocating for.
It'll take a while, but eventually the numbers won't add up, EA will stop paying to cover their asses, and there won't be enough people to curate reviews. Give it a few months and then the true review score will shine through.
Everywhere you can rate something are advertisement companies with thousands of accounts. You see this whenever something gets backlash from the customers. Extremly bad ratings, hundrets of YT videos and tiktoks hating it and then magically the next days ratings become way better, despite the negative press covfefe.
Honestly don't have a problem with them creating games catering to themselves. I do have a problem when they use well established franchises that have -5 proximity to the issue for it.

In the early days of disk jockey radio, DJs would receive what was called "payolas" to play certain songs repeatedly by record companies. This made hits out of music that, often, didn't deserve to be and ignored new bands that couldn't afford to "pay for play". Looks like game journalism have renewed that. Money for good reviews.
What they say doesn't mean anything. If they manage to convince a few people on the internet, it still doesn't matter. "I don't feel like I'm a man or a woman"
What exactly does being a man or woman feel like?
I'm a man, and for the life of me, I cannot put words to what it feels like to be a man.
I can't even describe what it's like to feel like me. It's just a reality that I live. One that could never be encapsulated by a single word, or even a handful of words.
As far as I can tell, identifying as non-binary is the same as saying "I don't like who/what I am, but I care a lot about what others think about me and can't think of an easier way to get validation."
I've always had that same question. I don't know how it can have an answer.
They care about making other people lie to them.
It's so successful, Bioware already announced that they won't be developing any DLC for it. 🤣
Even AC Syndicate had DLC..
And they're not boasting about the number of sales, neither them nor the media, we all know if the game was selling well, they would be publishing that everyone, just to say it's a win against gamers.
It isn't getting DLC because it's getting a part two. Maybe tell the FULL TRUTH so you don't end up looking like a clown.

😂😂😂
10y have passed, I doubt the budget is the same, so it's even worse tbh.
I'd say the peak concurrent players would amount to around 10% of sales in the playform (BG3 for example had 900k peak players and sold over 10m at Steam), not 75% like you did. Still don't think they broke even just yet though.

So, regarding that clip Rev played, I had a friend do this EXACT thing to me. He came over and just dropped this bomb on me, started the conversation just like this, trying to catch me off guard, but I figured it out prior, due to several key indicators. So I was braced for it, but still, this is exactly how the cult do it.
Same happened to the steam reviews apparently, someone was following the numbers and noticed that the original mixed rating leapt up to mostly positive and at the same time the total reviewer number dropped by a thousand lol
Using statistics and numbers remains the easiest and best way to mislead people while technically telling the truth.
Yeah.
And 127% of statistics are made up on the spot.
You just described science and politics in one fell swoop.
"This game was number one on Steam*^+-"
* for a game released on Halloween
^ for a Thursday release
+ in Nicaragua
- for about 10 minutes
There are lies, damned lies and statistics.
Especially if you cheat the numbers, sorry, "tweak" the numbers
BG3 too lol, crpg is even more niche
DD1 is great niche game and DD2 is a guilty pleasure of mine. They have problems but it something along the line of Eurojank which is not that big deal.
Meanwhile, Deadlock has a peak of 171k players on steam.. A game that isn't even in alpha, that you can only play through a invitation..
@@Razer5542 I got the invitation. Its a really good game
7/10 would have been so easy to overlook. 10/10 is just foolish, especially for a "game" like this
At this point this game is more a meme than an actual game🤣
When the metacritic user scores came out, 2.5, it didn't even take an hour before it was up at score 2.9
I was initially and forever will be referring to this game as "Dragon Age : The Failguard"
The game costs over 150 million sales can barely crack 4 million this is not even going to break even the people who call this a commercial success need to go back to math class
Because last time i checked success is making a profit losing less money is a really wierd defenition of success
I guess it is a commercial success if your competitor is concord.
It can be a financial success if you manage to get Blackrock to fund it
Just 150 million? This game was in development for literally a decade
@@Fernybun Yap. It is more like 250 million.
it has to be over 150 mil with the 10 yr dev and marketing
Gayson Crier is a well known clown. Coping is futile. Nothing will save these wokeazz games and journalists. Muahahahaha! 🤘🏾
When a Beta Test is actually more successful than a Full Game, you knew something f***ed up.
What's hilarious is movie critics have done the same exact thing.
so Jason doesn't like the game, but personally hates the people who don't like the game? he is a journalist, not a creator of the game. the fact he is so biased, and has that much genuine hate to people who just don't like how the game turned out it fucking wild. of course the tolerant Left at it again with the personal attacks over a game.
I wouldnt even call him a journalist. Just another bloke who is unqualified for actual journalism thus ended up in "gaming journalism", like many others in IGN or gaming medias.
@@FPchie Urinalist.
There. A perfect job for people like them.
Jason Schreier was never a objective journalist. That clown hold back info about whats going on at Blizzard to write and sell a book.
Veilguard really shed light on the absolutely corrupt state of game journos today.
monster hunter wilds preorders is/was more last i checked, and that game doesnt even come out till February
If you sort the reviews on steam by helpfulness (as in, users actually agree with the reviews), all the blue suddenly becomes red.
5:17 Game journalists be giving top scores to failing games while mediocre scores to successful games. Riiiiiiiiiight.
At least they are consistent with that metrics so buy games with a low score form "their" point of view, might find some hidden gems
Not hitting 100k peak player count is a failure for an IP like Dragon Age
They actually need around 3,5 million sold units for full release price to barely break even. Let that sink in.
For triple A the game is not just an utter failure, but a catastrophic one. Those stockholders aint going to be happy.
Stockholders are gonna be happy, the whole company eats dirt, gets shorted and some bigname corpo im not gonna name for my safety get to buy it for real cheap
After that they can force behaviors in impressable audience(children yes, the young ones are targeted)
Ah, finally! A triumphant return to form for Bioware!
Try as they might, the Metacritic user score still being under 5 still makes it suck some huge ones.
The laugh track makes the scene more enjoyable.
@GrumpyDerg You'd probably still get a physical injury from actually cringing so much.
It's the new meta. You just declare you won, or else it was rigged and a hoax. Right?
For people who hate Mr. President Donald, they sure do use a lot of his tricks.....
That's how Biden got installed.
the trump defense
@@corberus3119 Hillary called, she wants her Russia Hoax back.
Except Trump was right. Big difference.
Since negative reviews being hidden on steam, Some people decide to put it in recommended/positive review but when you read the review you actually noticed that they are not praising the game nor trying to ask people to try the game instead they trying to tell people about their bad experience in the game and why you should avoid it.
Except they aren't hidden , there's still plenty of negative reviews.
@@theblackbaron4119 Yes But those Who Refund the game, their review was hidden instead, If you hover into the negative review its more than 1000+
@@novanexus9112 Nah. Change your settings bozo; By default it hides "periods of review bombing" or whatever they call it.
First Saturday, 81k max, now decreasing.
For comparison, satisfactory had 100k at 1.0 release and has 40k to 50k players daily.
It'll take a while, but eventually the numbers won't add up, EA will stop paying to cover their asses, and there won't be enough people to curate reviews. Give it a few months and then the true review score will shine through.
Anyone remember when people used to claim dipshit shire, sorry jackson shier, er whatever his name is was the voice of gamers?
The long nose was never a gamer. Can never trust those guys.
BS then, BS now
We wanted Dreadwolf, but got the Veilgaurd. It's no wonder why Wukong is kicking their butts.
Wait,this replaced dreadwolf?
Everywhere you can rate something are advertisement companies with thousands of accounts. You see this whenever something gets backlash from the customers. Extremly bad ratings, hundrets of YT videos and tiktoks hating it and then magically the next days ratings become way better, despite the negative press covfefe.
Honestly don't have a problem with them creating games catering to themselves. I do have a problem when they use well established franchises that have -5 proximity to the issue for it.
Good take
I was wondering why the steam reviews are at like 70%, turns out it was censorship. Don't know why I didn't expect it because I really should have.
i honestly believe that 70000 is a extremly well number considering this is nothing more than trans propaganda
You'd think that, at a point, the legacy games-journo outfits would draw up the terms of surrender.
We've only gotten more tech-savvy, have more receipts to cite, and now are just plain mad.
But noooo...
Dragon Age: Failguard really hurts my soul. The narrative is so bad.
What they say doesn't mean anything. If they manage to convince a few people on the internet, it still doesn't matter.
For the quarter, people on Wall Street aren't looking at Twitter and magazines for financials, if it doesn't make it to profitability, they'll still punish Bioware.
On an unrelated note: every character in MH: Wilds looks great.
Well... Your guild questgiver is no Guildmarm nor Serious Handler, but the lady in armor is hot.
Too bad the smithy lady has the mental illness half-shaven haircut.
It's just weird behaviour. I suppose it's because it's easier to censor and gaslight a bunch of people online rather than actually make something that's worth playing.
It's so dumb as all it does in destroy their credibility. Who honestly believes anything coming out of games journalism at the moment? The whole industry is cooked and they don't seem to understand why it's happened.
You know I've been kind of thinking about this; the word chud is meant to be derogatory so therefore should be considered a slur right?
It's practically calling someone else subhuman
@@Fernybun The reason it isn't considered a slur is that it just so happens online one side of the fence cares about slurs to that extent, while the other doesn't, and therefore sees no reason to see it seen as a slur.
