  • From Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest's Rob Halford to Metallica's James Hetfield and Slipknot's Corey Taylor, heavy music is full of stunning voices that range from the skyscraping to the brutally guttural. So who is the greatest metal vocalist of all time? We posed that burning question to Pantera's Philip Anselmo, Sabbath's Geezer Butler, Guns N' Roses' Matt Sorum and Halestorm's Lzzy Hale, plus members of Motionless in White, Knocked Loose, the HU, HEALTH and more.
Who is your favorite metal vocalist? Let us know in the comments.

Honestly, Kyo from Dir en Grey, Joe Duplantier from Gojira, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest are my top three picks.
Rob's voice is powerful and just a force to be reckoned with. Joe has that emotional scream-singing he does that can move mountains and is so unique. Kyo is honestly hands down the most insane vocalist I've ever heard. He has like 5 octaves or damn near it, his screaming is inhuman, and his presence on stage (especially in earlier years) is some of the most viscerally intense I've ever seen.

She's the most diverse and has sung so many styles of music so fluently. Anneke can leave metal and still be successful. Not many singers can leave their comfort zone and still keep their dedicated fan base while picking up new fans. Anneke has left a legacy for all those who discover this extremely talented singer.
