They actually are not southern. More northern states had to use tomatoes not ripe red yet due to onset of cold weather. They appear in north midwest cook books. The Whistle Stop had them but before the book/movie they were nowhere down here. I know many old folks that think its absolute nuts to go gaga over a green tomato. Now, look up fried RED tomatoes. Dear babish I am a 13 year old boy who just started cooking, last week I cooked for my family using skinners sea food stew it was a great success keep being awesome !
Make the Bueno nacho menu from Kim Possible, "chimirito" (chimichanga and burrito), the "quesachanga" (quesadilla and chimichanga), and Ron's personal invention of the "naco" (nachos and taco).
See, the problem with the 'chimurrito' (based on the way Ron pronounces it, I'm assuming that's the correct portmanteau) is that it's completely redundant. A chimichanga is already basically just a burrito that has been deep fried. Personally, I believe that whoever wrote that line didn't actually think about what (s)he was creating, because (s)he never thought anybody would actually care to make one.
I'd wondered about that as well, my best guess is that it's a small chimichanga wrapped in a tortilla, possibly with the hot ingredients being fried with the chimichanga and the veggies and shredded cheese in the tortilla layer?
Andrew makes a lot of corrections to his footage in his post-filming voiceover, so he likely used what was at hand for the episode then said in the voice recording what people should be using for a proper recreation.
every time, he struggles with all these syllables when he could just go with "wooster" and at least a good chunk of the anglophone world would be happy lol

So I just stumbled across this episode and burst into tears. Yeah same. I don’t know what green tomatoes taste like. Maybe they taste differently from the red tomatoes I hate so much. But I have a feeling that if I doused these in that sauce, or some buttermilk ranch, I probably wouldn’t mind them
Green tomatoes definitely taste different. Fried green tomatoes are slightly firm (not squishy like red tomatoes) and have a... well, greener flavour. It's hard to compare to something else, but they don't have a minerally taste to them like red tomatoes. Also, dipping them in ranch is a SOLID choice. ;)
green tomatoes taste quite different from red tomatos there alot less watery tasteing Ok i feel obligated to say this but if you've only had the bright red tomatoes you've never had a good tomato theres a massive difference in flavors across varieties of tomatoes and the bright red variety was made quite flavorless due to selective breeding heirloom tomatoes taste so much better so I recommend if you haven't try one
Wow... the memories I have with this movie... I didn't even knew about it, and didn't even pay attention to in. 3 years later after it came out in VHS, I rented it because now, curiosity had me. I watched it over and over again and became one of my favorites movies. On a side note, that fried green tomatoes looks awesome. Especially that sauce! You know what they say "The secret is in the sauce~"

Damn people get in quick
I hate tomatoes, but you made these look so good I started craving them even though I know I wouldn’t like them.
Same here. I ain't picky though. Throw them on in something, I'll eat it. Never had green tomatoes though.
Also, dipping them in ranch is a SOLID choice. ;)
Boner.
green tomatoes taste quite different from red tomatos there alot less watery tasteing
Ok i feel obligated to say this but if you've only had the bright red tomatoes you've never had a good tomato theres a massive difference in flavors across varieties of tomatoes and the bright red variety was made quite flavorless due to selective breeding heirloom tomatoes taste so much better so I recommend if you haven't try one
We fry everything because everything is better fried.

you dad seems like a wholesome guy
Wow... the memories I have with this movie...
Good fast skip over the pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce
It's common knowledge that every single letter in Worcestershire is actually silent, and can therefore only be pronounced correctly by the enlightened and the clinically insane.
