@@HappinessTravelz The book is pretty awesome, though you get a feeling that she (the author) does not always have a complete grasp of the time lines. This gets a lot worse with the second book The Wonderboy of Whistlestop - the dates do not match up anymore in some cases. Which somewhat kills a good story, unfortunately.
@@HappinessTravelz me too! My mom would love it. Take a secret trip as a surprise and get pics with her there. That would just blow her mind. I hope she doesn't see this before I get a chance. That would make it that much better.
My Mama grew up in the mill village there and I played many a day with my cousins at Granny and Grandaddy's house in the curve. There's nothing like hearing a screen door slam and sitting on the front porch drinking sweet tea and hearing the train whistle blowing in the distance on it's way thru town. You should have taken a trip thru the village across the river. Some of my family still live there and many are buried in the cemetary on the hill. When I come home to visit and stop to hear the wind thru the trees, I can still hear our laughter of playing outside. We never even wondered if there was anywhere else to live, because we felt it was always home. Thank you for the video. Safe travels to you and your family.
That's awesome! Seems like a great place to live. I definitely want to go back again and explore around more. Thanks for your story and thanks for watching! 😀
Is he/the family the reason the street is named J.H. Aldridge Drive? My Mama lived in the little white house in the curve on the right for many years before moving to take care of family members.
What a Nice Tribute to this _WONDERFUL Film !!! As far as the town turning into a 'tourist trap'.... you can't blame them... it's like Gatlinburg, back in the 60's where Family's rented 'Summer Cabins: Bohanan's? hanging over the Little Pigeon River.. right in the heart of downtown. Enjoyed this tour & now am craving some good ol' BBQ with a side of Fried Green Tomatoes :) *hold the Frank*.
Both sets of my grandparents lived in Juliette so we were there many many times over the years. Mom and Dad met there and eventually married. Dad's dad was the telegraph operator at the station before he retired. Mom's Dad was the meat cutter in the store (the restaurant) and at the cotton mill across the river. Mom also worked there while she was pregnant with me.
One of my favorite movies. Such iconic town. Fried Green Tomatoes is a timeless movie. The only reason I would go to Georgia is to go to Juliette and see the town and eat fried green tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe' and get some Georgia peaches. Great video. Thank you soooo much!❤
Love the movie, but have not read the book yet. Only have read about differences between the book and movie. I will have to read! Thanks for watching 👍
Delightful little town and yes many of the buildings are little shops. The cafe is still serving some mighty fine fried green tomatoes as well as a mouthwatering apple pie with ice cream. A great place to visit and wander about in time past.
The gentleman said that there was a cafe called Mable's Table but he did not want to open his cafe because it would hurt her business, but when Mable's table closed, he went ahead and opened up his cafe. What a heart he has.
One of very top favs movies. 💯💯💯 Everyone that knows me know how much I luv this movie....ive got this on VHS & dvd both! ❤ I still remember wen it came out where I watched it at & who I watched the movie with. Me n my sister watched it at her house n she rented the movie on vhs. Back then she wldnt rent movies on VHS from blockbuster! 😱
I absolutely had to make my way too Juliette Georgia about twelve years ago due to my long love for this movie. However i did not walk around and explore as much as i would have liked, because i could not tolerate the heat. To be honest i don't understand how people live in that heat. But of course people would come to my Canadian town and wonder how I tolerate the cold. Anyway...thanks for the video. Fried Green Tomatoes was/is such a special movie.
Thanks for watching! It was great to go there. We went in December and it was cool in morning but muggy in evening. I'd go again of we were in the area again . Great movie. 👍
The actual Whistle Stop Cafe is in Irondale AL, where the location in the story actually was. It was a place and the Bar B Q restaurant was renamed Golden Rule Bar B Q and still exists. It is now in Trussville AL, by the train tracks. I know because I lived there.
The investigator was from Georgia, and the movie was supposed to take place in alabama, that's why it was the best damn barbecue in the entire state of Alabama
Just beautiful. This reminds me of my daddy and his family. We just lost him the end of 2020. It's a comfort to see such places being cared for and visited.
Great video and narrations! Loved it! My Grandmother and I loved this movie! I never get tired of watching it! Great friends are everything and the movie shows that on so many levels.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is one of my favorite movies too. Spot on with the friends 👍. Feel free to share this video with anyone you think would like it 🙂 Thanks for watching 👍
They should have the Theme music as ambient music throughout the Town! LOL How cool, I always wondered about the Main Threadgood house! Seems they found a Gem to make one of my Favorite Movies! The music fits even today!
I grew up in Macon, Ga and ate fried green tomatoes way before the movie! But, since Jessica Tandy (and her husband, Hume Cronin) are my two favorites, I watched any movies they made! I still fry green tomatoes, but, it's so hard to get any decent sized tomatoes here in Wyoming!!

They had to have been the same person....or else, .....how would she be able to call every little detail in the movie!!! This was the obvious,.. give-a-way!! Evelyn was drawn into her story, because Iggy took on a "fake" persona in order to tell the story. But even Evelyn figured it out by the end of the movie. And why would the jar of honey on Ruth's grave be signed "the bee charmer" if not by Iggy??!!
What a beautiful little town with lots of history. I loved the movie and then seeing the actual filming locations was a treat. Fried green tomatoes is special to me as its the last movie my mother asked to see before she passed in 1992. I will have to come visit in Juliette and try some fried green tomatoes ! Great video and enjoyed the interviews.
My favorite comfort movie. I watch it on TH-cam and even with ALL the ads its stood the test of timw. Im inclined to believe Idgy is Ninny. She knew too much and Sibsy wasnt privy to.

I watched FGT many many years ago, probably when it came out.. At the library the other day I saw Fannie Flagg and FGT.. Never knew she was the writer, loved her on tv,wo I picked it up,and took my time reading... I felt like I had stepped back in time as everything in it was pretty close to my own childhood in the deepest part of south Alabama close to the Florida line... This book had me tearing up at Buddies death, laughing out loud at Idgies doings, and crying again when each character passed on... I didn't want it to end,and wished that someone had written a sequel to the earlier years with morw doings and going ons with everyone from FGT... I believe that had Hollyweird stuck closer to the book it'd have been a much better movie, not saying it wasnt a great movie, but maybe just a little bit better.. Thank you Ms Flagg ❤❤ and thank this guy for putting these images with the story I just completed earlier today,Sat,Jan 6th,24..
Nice little place, the food was good. The antique store was also fun! Saturday is deferentially a busy day for business. They also used the tracks and bridge in The Walking Dead.

I’m 42 myself and so when this movie came out I wanted to see it. Jessica Tandy is in it and I loved anything with her. I think my Aunt had bought the movie on VHS and let me borrow it or we watched it together. It just was written so well. I didn’t realize all the buildings were mostly there still altogether close by. I also love trains and it is right next to train tracks. It looks like they moved the tracks a little. You have a great on camera presence. I really liked your interaction with the old timers. Your wife is a lucky woman lol I wanna know how those fried green tomatoes taste!
Thanks! Yes it's a great movie, one of my favorites! Very cool little town to check out. The fried green tomatoes were delicious 😋 thanks for watching 👍
Now I'm going to have to go watch the movie again for like the upteenth time! haha It is my favorite movie of all time. I've been to Senoia and did the Walking Dead tour but never made it to Juliette. (Will have to go!) Years ago, I visited the original cafe that Fanny Flag based the cafe on in the book, in Irondale, AL outside of Birmingham. Still have my Fried Green Tomatoes Cookbook I got from there. Great video! So neat that you got to talk to the owners!!
Thank you! People have been telling me about the Cafe in Irondale Alabama. I will definitely check it out sometime. It was awesome to talk with the owner. Thanks for watching 👍
In the making of FGT, they state the train depot was rebuilt and moved to the film location. According to the video, there were trees growing through it before filming. After, the railroad deemed it an insurance risk and they removed it to preserve it..
Interesting , that may have been what happened. The owners told me it was there before filming and it was fixed up some for the movie . And after the movie it was relocated to where you see it now in my video. It's great that it is still around though. Thanks for watching 👍
My husband and i stopped in a few years back. It was an hour out of our way and my husband was so annoyed with me for making him go. The Whistle Stop was closed due to some water issues but we ended up having the best time. We both loved it and if you are a fan of the movie, i can't recommend it enough. My husband had to admit it was worth the drive.
Just discovered your channel, so you may have already filmed here, but if not y'all should come to Natchitoches Louisiana, & show all the spots where the movie Steel Magnolias was filmed . It was actually based on a true story about a family from this town.
My dad roofed the “Threadgoode” house in Senoia! Also, the scene where Kathy Bates says, “face it girls, I’m older and have more insurance” was filmed is in my hometown of Fayetteville. I used to work at that Winn-Dixie.
That's awesome, I had planned on stopping by the stores used and the retirement home but ran out of time. Maybe next time? Thanks for watching 👍
That is SO cool! That has to be one of the most legendary movie lines of all time!
Thank you for telling us the location of the Winn-Dixie. I have been looking for the filming location of one of my favorite scenes in the movie.
Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe. Amazing read by Fannie Flagg. 👏🏼

You need to do one for My Cousin Vinny. Filmed not to far from Juilet, in Monicello GA. Hwy 16 and sack o suds, the square, the couthouse.

Great video!
Thank you!
I didn't know you could visit the town and cafe. I thought it rotted away. Now I'll have to visit it.
It's a really cool place to visit.
Memory’s ❤
👍
My husband and i stopped in a few years back. It was an hour out of our way and my husband was so annoyed with me for making him go. The Whistle Stop was closed due to some water issues but we ended up having the best time. We both loved it and if you are a fan of the movie, i can't recommend it enough. My husband had to admit it was worth the drive.
I loved visiting that place and will definitely visit again when we are in that area again. Great movie and a great little town! Thanks for watching 👍
Just discovered your channel, so you may have already filmed here, but if not y'all should come to Natchitoches Louisiana, & show all the spots where the movie Steel Magnolias was filmed . It was actually based on a true story about a family from this town.
