We had our high school reunion and some of our classmates were absent. 'Debbie' was not there. She had moved away. Got Married and had children. She ran a day home to she could be at home with her kids. She also babysat a newborn. The newborn was sleeping in one of the bedrooms. The house caught on fire. Debbie got all the kids out and went back for the newborn. The Firemen found Debbie in a bed on top of the newborn trying to sheild the little one from the flames. They both had died. Such sad stories, such as this one. 😪

So very sad! A father’s broken heart and feeling he should’ve done more! That was very honorable of James to donate to the varied causes. RIP to father and daughter! ❤
Thank you Ron for introducing me to little Shirley and her father, in the early 60s there was a little girl I called my friend I can't remember her name now but she was lost in a fire, early one morning I remember her sister and brother come to my grandparents house screaming and crying saying that their house was on fire and their little sister was in the house, at my tending age of 4 years, I never forgot the horror that I felt in the sickness in my stomach and for years I was so scared of fire, everyone have a natural fear of fire, but I was overwhelmed with the idea of our house being burnt down at any given time. I only wish I could remember her name. Rip to little Shirley and her dad and my first friend from so long ago.
This is so tragic. This poor father was in a panic, the worst condition to be in to try and think straight. It's easy to say later, I should have done this or that instead. I'm so sorry for this dad and the loss he had to struggle with daily, but I understand his grief. When your most treasured gift from God is gone, especially when you feel it was at your own hands, you just want to be where they are. The pain is real. RIP Shirley and James, together again 💞
If I would have just done this. If I had never done that. What a dreadful, heavy burden to carry around! I personally know this pain and I'm willing to bet there are many others who know just what I'm talking about. We are only human. We all make choices we regret. But when it involves a death it's a gut wrenching thing to deal with.
The rose that you placed on her grave gives off a beauty shadow that encompasses her name. Perhaps it is some kind of acknowledgment of a thank you or appreciation from passed on love ones. Very nice.
What an sad story. I can't even imagine. My daughter is 17. She's all I have left as the rest of my family has past on. RIP to both of these sweet souls 🙏
So tragic, brought tears to my eyes when I heard that he screamed that his baby wasn't dead... What a great man to do all he did for charity. RIP sweet Shirley and James, I'm hoping they are spending eternity together in a better place.
Very sad story indeed, Shirley's mom had passed away and all she had was her daddy. She obeyed his order and stayed, but as is in many cases the "fumes" are the killer. His heart was very heavy. RIP little Shirley and James. Your Yellow Rose as lovely as always 💐
Such a heartbreaking story. Sometimes you just wonder, why ? Poor Shirley met an awful end, and her loving father James, how could he live with that loss? He must have tormented himself, second guessing what he tried to do. I pray they are together, with Shirley's Mom reunited forever . Ron thank you for bringing us their story.❣️
A most horrifically tragic story which you told with heartbreak in your voice. As you always do a piece of you stays behind in these stories & those of us who follow love you for your compassion. It is beyond cruel that the memorial Plaques have been removed especially from the apartment buildings which continue to profit Perhaps an updated News story in the local papers would be a wonderful reminder of humanity. In fact a portion of the rent collected should be donated to the causes the Father felt could express his love for his daughter. And yes buildings are torn down & change ownership; for the places where the plaques were removed it is beyond reproach to consciously profit every time a rent is collected by a ruthless owner who chooses to forget The 60's is not that long ago. People will remember. I wish all of us could hug you Ron & comfort you a little following each of these stories. We feel your pain even virtually
This is so heartbreaking on so many levels. I can't imagine the truckload of guilt that the father must have gone through after his daughter died so tragically. Probably he thought everything from "Why did I leave those flammable materials so close to a gas stove in the kitchen?" (something I was wondering about myself), to "Why didn't I try to put the fire out myself, instead of leaving my child alone to get burned up?" "Why did I tell her to stay put instead of trying to escape?" and "I could have done more to save her." But I guess that sometimes, when you're in a state of panic, you don't think very clearly, and you make decisions that turn out to be very fatal. I also wonder why the two aren't buried next to the mother -- my guess is that maybe they were living in another city when the mother passed away, and her grave is elsewhere. Or even sadder, maybe she ran off and abandoned her husband and daughter, and they wanted nothing to do with her after that. And then the father's mental breakdown that eventually led to his taking his life -- sadly, paying attention to mental health was not a thing in that era, and grieving people were often left to work through it on their own as best as they could. Just such as sad, sad story!
What a tragic and sad 😔 story. Losing your wife, then your daughter in a fire. This man truly loved his family and couldn't live with himself that he survived. Truly sad. Thanks for remembering this family Ron. God Bless you. Stay safe my friend.

This story is so extremely heartbreaking 😥...I honestly feel that any of the ppl/new owners that took down those plack's are disgraceful and truly disrespectful!! To me, I feel that plack's and memorials should ALWAYS stay in place no matter how much time goes by!! But some ppl let their ignorance get the best of them I guess...but my thoughts heart and prayers go out to this beautiful little angel and to her father who will forever be hand and hand with her together in Heaven!! May that both RIP!!
🙏💜😥💞
What a special heart you have to make it your mission to share all that you do , with all of us, so that these precious individuals are remembered. Thank you.
That poor little baby girl. And poor Dad. This was heart breaking!
Such a sad storie RIP to the little girl and her father from Margaret P England
A truely heartbreaking story. Now no longer forgotten thanks to you. Maybe the date of James's death not being on their stone may be because he gave all his money away so there was nothing left to pay for it. If so this makes it even sadder. Thank you from England for all your hard work in allowing the stories of so many peoples lives to live on.
Thanks!
thanks Tammy!!!!!
A very sad story, very bad for that poor dad, and the death of the sweet girl was terrible R.I.P. to both.
Maybe an effort could be made to locate the plaques. They might be sitting in storage somewhere...
