This is the best young band on the music scene today. Talent, passion, stage presence, songwriting, intelligence, and a collective humbleness that engenders a strong bond between them and their growing audience.
Now that is some good old fashioned rock and roll right there. This old seventies dude enjoyed that so much. I hope they keep that spirt and never sell out to the pressures of the music industry.
Even in Spanish it’s an awesome song. My second language is French so rock songs I understand but in English sounds better. Not sure why. But this song was VERY good even in a language I don’t understand. ❤
I love how they performed this song at their Teatro Metropolitan concert, in Mexico City. It was an intensely emotional performance, as over 3,000 fans joined in singing the song with the band. Pau seemed moved to tears.
I'm 64 yrs old and an old school rocker; Ac Dc, Metallica, etc...and I recently discovered The Warning and they have become my #1 band now...amazing young ladiies!!!
This song hits HARD. All 3 instruments played with such emotion while blending together so well to drive home the point of the song. Foolish martyr. Only 8 days until I get to see The Warning in New Orleans.
They hadn’t planned on the wind and the hornets! Shot in the Icamole desert north of Monterrey. When the got home they were covered in dust and sand. The women in the video are them, their mom and a cousin. Dany said it was really hot being in the circle of fire.
Plus it was 45 Degrees C that day (133 Degrees F). Miserable conditions and they were exposed to it all day long. The little house frame with the fabric hanging from it blowing in the steady breeze was originally intended as a tent to protect them and their instruments from the wind and the dust. But the wind shredded it. It mades for a great visual effect but completely defeated the purpose.
@@elgonwilliams7624 45C does not equal 133F! 133F would have been one of the hottest days on record in Mexico since the world all-time high is 136F in Libya. 45C = 113F. Typo perhaps?
@@Dave_Marks For sure a typo. Fahrenheit measures are so weird it's easy to screw up. 0 degrees should be when water turns into ice and it boils at 100. 😆
I've listened to at least 2/3 of their discography. Not found a bad song yet. Not even an average one, seems they are only do bangers. They are better than the bands they open for lol. I honestly think they will be this time's Metallica. #teamale for anyone wondering ;)
The live video is awesome too. This is the 6th , and most recent ,song they released from their August 2022 concert at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. The other 5 are Disciple, Money, Choke, Animosity, and the Metallica Blacklist album version of Enter Sandman. All are well worth checking out. Yes, they only have 2 songs in Spanish so far. It was on the Mayday EP, but is also included on the most recent album, Error.
The slow motion was on the beat done by recording the scene sped up, then played in real time. Pretty incredible!! As a 66 year old, The Warning brings Rock and Roll back, and leaps forward at the same time. My favorite band!!
Great reaction, Rosalie! They spent an entire day, pre-dawn to after dusk out in the blasting winds and sand and dust to create this masterpiece video to go along with this masterpiece of a song. They suffer for their art! True rock heroes!! The Warning continue to step up their game with their new song, "MORE", out May 12. They are already performing it (as well as "MARTIRIO") in concerts. I will be seeing them tomorrow night!!
I believe it is a rejection of those that make themselves into martyrs. They are martyrs of their own choosing and they don't have to live this way. It's sometimes easier to let yourself feel like a martyr than to rise above it. I get it's basically an empowering song telling us to rise above. Their characteristic in writing they share with the best in that you have to dig for the meaning and there are usually more than one way to understand the lyrics. Brilliant
Always such an epic song no matter how many times you listen to it. There is a video of Dany singing this a cappella and it is really good to of course. Not sure if you noticed the slow motion clips in this one but if you think about it the timing with the audio is spot on, so that meens they had to play parts at different tempos to slow it down and still work. Love it all. The Warning rock! The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm do too hint hint.
Aloha @RosalieReacts - Lately I've been trying to understand why I find their music so compelling. When as a child I got my first Beatles album, I had never heard anything like them before, but it wasn't just the fact I was hearing pop rock for the first time...there was something compelling about the Beatles sound and composition that kept me wanting more. Fast forward thru my teens, of course I was exposed to other fantastic genres, but every once in awhile along would come a band that stood out as different from others. I love the blues, but many of these stand out bands did not use a blues foundation to create their music. Cheap Trick's first album comes to mind. What is your take on The Warning and what is it about their sound that just grabs you and pulls you in?!? Mahalo!
Nice Reaction! I don't speak Spanish, so it's nice to find out what this song is about. The Warning just went on Tour at the end of April, started in California and are working their way to the east coast, when the will go over to Europe. The only change to speak of is Pau. She cut her hair! No more flying pony tail, at least for a while.
Resonance. I find this thread in every song they create whether it’s the lyrics , the music or a combination of the two, their music resonates. The body reacts to sound that resonates within us. Certain frequencies can move through us. Martirio does that to me. I am moved every time I listen. When Dany belts during the gang vocals I get chills. Great reaction. Look for the live version at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. Its special.
I'm telling you Rosalie you have to see this LIVE. In fact you need to see ALL of the LIVE videos from the concert at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. Especially Disciple. It's professionally shot and recorded and these ladies are as "grown up" (or happy) as you have ever seen. Another wonderful reaction.
Since music is art, and all art is, by nature, subjective in that everyone comes away with something different than the next person, again. And these ladies realized this at a very young age! Another Great reaction Miss Rosalie!
From what DPA have said in terview, this song is about people that make themselve into the martir. From the first line "sometimes the most obvious things are the hardest to see, you suffocate by your own hands. When things finally point that someone is coming to to rescue you, you find your self alone again.... in your martyrdom again." This is my own translation (I speak both Spanish and English FYI) Also at 3:53 on this video the lyrics say "your sad life, dumb martyr, say goodbye."
I've kind of accepted this song as a bit of tough love from The Warning. Pau said in one interview, "It sounds nicer in Spanish!", but it still sounds like tough love being given to the Matirio.
Very good reaction as always I liked this one and the sound they have is very good they are consistantly upping thier game I am happy that they are doing that each tie I hear them I think I like them a little more as always your ride or die forever Eyyyy Oooo

To me, they are kind of like Nightwish in a way. Every song of the Warning that I hear for the first time is my favorite. However, Martirio IS my favorite because not only is it performed to perfection, but I think it is, to date, their most musically crafted song. I don't know why, but each time I listen to it I tear up. This is really strange because I don't know Spanish and have no idea what Danny is saying. Go figure. It just hits a nerve. They performed this at the Teatro concert. You should take that in. The on-stage mannerisms and emotions are even better than the superb music video. When you do, pay attention to the joy in the face of Pau while she is slamming the skins.
In my opinion this song and video are their best work, when you consider this is a song they've had in their back pocket working on, and multiple days shooting the video in the desert.

Esto para mi es un hinmo!!! Siempre que escucho Martirio, no puedo evitar doblegarme ante The Warning. Great reaction, ty for u comments and support to them.
I’ll echo what many have said: live is the way to go with this band. This song from CDMX is phenomenal! The harmonies from Dany and Ale are amazing. Edit to add: again as others have noted, 3000 fans singing every word has to be experienced.
I saw them Monday (last) night, the night of this reaction in Salt Lake City and although I saw them last year in this same venue, and believed then it to be well among the best concerts I have ever attended, they were far better this time around. When they played Martirio, it was EPIC! These young sisters absolutely will conquer the world, selling out arenas, stadiums and be invited to headline the biggest music festivals the world has to offer. LONG LIVE THE VILLARREAL SISTERS!
Mayday isn't actually their debut EP, that is Escape the Mind, their first musical creations when they were children, Mayday can be only debut in a sense of being with the record label. Mayday is actually part of the Error album, they released singles and then this EP so they could tour with the new music, while Error was the full album release, featuring all Mayday songs with 6 new ones. Money was a sole single that wasn't featured in Mayday as it got released after it, and before Error.
Yeah I don’t think there was even supposed to be a Mayday EP, I was a kickstarter supporter and it was just an album. In fact the early promo video they refer to the album within the video, but if I remember right it was released along with the EP.
It"s not unheard of to release albums in two parts, but, the issue I have with the music "journalists" is that they think "Error" is The Warnings debut album. When did it become so hard and inconvenient to read a wiki page prior to writing an article or conducting an interview? 🤷♀️
@@FullTexanEffect Debut only in a sense since they stopped being independent, can only be true in that way, but ignoring independent work they did before the label isn't a good thing if you ask me.
I strongly recommend any time they come near your town GO. I've seen them now twice and they have blown me away both times. I don't speak Spanish but this song is still emotionally powerful to me
I don't remember where I saw it, but somebody had said that in Mexico, martirio was more synonymous to "misery". So if you take the English translation and substitute misery in place of martyrdom, the translation makes more sense. At least to me, anyway. I don't speak spanish.
I've seen those comments from mexican people but i don't quite agree...i mean it could take either meaning. Ok, I'd put it like this: "MARTIRIO" means martyrdom but it's often times used figuratively to mean torment, misery or just anything painfull and long (it's very common so i get what people say), it's sometimes used in a comedic way as well. In this song i do believe it refers to martyrdom, but admitedly it makes sense either way so they also have a case... My thoughts: The situation depicted here sounds really dark and tough in spanish...a real grim scene where there seems to be no way out - I think we all (mexicans al least) agree on that. Some of us are in or have gone through a long depression, but we need to try and take responsibility of the situation even if we feel that others have caused the situation... NOW...if you go about life just putting the blame on others and taking the role of the one who suffers undeserved pain...well then... DROWN IN YOUR MARTYRDOM!!!
@monica mansour That sounds good to me. Appreciate your thoughts on it. Gives it another viewpoint for my own perspective. Also, it's still a killer rock ballad!
the all-female rock group , called The Warning, for my taste is a rare mix of legendary rock groups like Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett and the black hearts and Heart. greetings from Mexico.
Hola Rosalie...
I'm 76, heard a lot of music including classic acts like Cream, The Stones, and The Beatles perform live. These girls are better. For the first time in my life I'm in love with a band.
This song cuts me, although not as much as it would have 30 or so years ago. I've left my "wallowing in my martyrdom" phase behind long ago, but if I'd heard this back then... maybe it would have kicked me in my butt and I would have crawled out of my hole sooner. Of course, they weren't even a gleam in their parent's eyes back then... 😋
I love your breakdown of their lyrics, symbolism, and musicality 🙂 - I know there are so many amazing songs to review… have you checked out Evolve? Looking forward to seeing them in person for the first time 👍
Aloha Rosalie, you really are one of the exceptions to music reactors! Some critique the musicianship or their composition...most are just vacuous "I like, I love" but you analyze the lyrics which you are genuinely interested in! Keep on keepin' on!
I came to this channel if I ever need to understand The Warning songs which is in Spanish like Narcisista before, because even if there are translations online, it pays off to understand it to the point of view of a person who truly speaks and understands Spanish and explain it that makes the song more meaningful
1:58 that crack on the glass got me deep with feelings, and btw I love the video being shaky on 2:56, 3:36, 4:25, 4:43, like it was conveying a message to us watching the video like "you've been warned". Idk if it was part of the concept but I appreciate it. Now I'm gonna comment it on their official music video!
I continue to be bummed that my Spanish fluency is not good enough to translate the lyrics to this one realtime for myself. However, I'll just flat-out say that I believe Martirio is, to me, the most beautiful song in The Warning's entire catalog.

Great reaction Rosalie, I like how you dig deeper than most reactors and give us more information, thanks. I loved this song before I even knew what it meant, now I love it more!😊🤘⚡️
I subscribed about the time they hit 100k. That was just before out of the basement.
Esto para mi es un hinmo!!! Siempre que escucho Martirio, no puedo evitar doblegarme ante The Warning. Great reaction, ty for u comments and support to them.
I love so much your reactions to TW, great comments and insight of their songs ! Keep them coming please ! 🤘🏼
I’ll echo what many have said: live is the way to go with this band. This song from CDMX is phenomenal! The harmonies from Dany and Ale are amazing.
Edit to add: again as others have noted, 3000 fans singing every word has to be experienced.
The word you're looking for is 'cryptic', and that's one of the things I love about The Warning's music. Great reaction!!👍♥️🤘
One of the dark witches is actually their mother Monica Vélez Rodriguez 😊
Means suffer Girl ✌️
Great review and love your facial reactions to the complex musical structuring! At 7:40 I'd say "profound"
Like # 536 🤙🏻⚡️⚡️🪖cortesía de THE WARNING ARMY🪖 ⚡️⚡️
I think this is my favorite the warning song, musically and vocals. The melody is so powerful.
@@holydado Yeah, Mayday was more of a transitional piece to the full album, it even got removed from the streaming service I use.
I don't speak Spanish but this song is still emotionally powerful to me
Excelente! Gracias!
This is my favorite band ..the talent with these ladies is undeniable
This is probably my favorite song from The Warning, at least top three! Such strong emotions conveyed it it!
Would love to see you react to REVENANT by them its so melodic and beautiful the drummer sings it (bring tisues btw)
🙋⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥
It may be a good time for a home visit for you: The Warning are about to have 3 shows in Germany in about a month!
Hauntingly beautiful!
🤘⚠️❤❤❤⚠️🤘
I loved.!
Estimada Rosalie, TW tendrán 3 shows en Alemania este próximo verano. Creo haber leido que vives en 🇩🇪. Saludos desde 🇲🇽 excelente reacción (como siempre).
As the great Def Leppard once stated " It's better to burn out, than fade away!"
They are a solid Rock and Roll Band !
My thoughts:
The situation depicted here sounds really dark and tough in spanish...a real grim scene where there seems to be no way out - I think we all (mexicans al least) agree on that.
Also, it's still a killer rock ballad!
the all-female rock group , called The Warning,
for my taste is a rare mix of legendary rock groups like Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett and the black hearts and Heart.
greetings from Mexico.
⚡✌️🤟⚠️🪖⚡ Rock On TW Army!⚡✌️🤟⚠️🪖⚡
🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏
Hola Rosalie...
Good solid hard rock. They have a good foundation.
I'm 76, heard a lot of music including classic acts like Cream, The Stones, and The Beatles perform live. These girls are better. For the first time in my life I'm in love with a band.
They had to play the song in double time for the slow-motion effect.
🤘🤘⚡⚡
This song cuts me, although not as much as it would have 30 or so years ago. I've left my "wallowing in my martyrdom" phase behind long ago, but if I'd heard this back then... maybe it would have kicked me in my butt and I would have crawled out of my hole sooner.
Of course, they weren't even a gleam in their parent's eyes back then... 😋
I love your breakdown of their lyrics, symbolism, and musicality 🙂
- I know there are so many amazing songs to review… have you checked out Evolve?
Looking forward to seeing them in person for the first time 👍
Aloha Rosalie, you really are one of the exceptions to music reactors! Some critique the musicianship or their composition...most are just vacuous "I like, I love" but you analyze the lyrics which you are genuinely interested in! Keep on keepin' on!
Thank you very much :)
I came to this channel if I ever need to understand The Warning songs which is in Spanish like Narcisista before, because even if there are translations online, it pays off to understand it to the point of view of a person who truly speaks and understands Spanish and explain it that makes the song more meaningful
1:58 that crack on the glass got me deep with feelings, and btw I love the video being shaky on 2:56, 3:36, 4:25, 4:43,
like it was conveying a message to us watching the video like "you've been warned".
7:12 not sure if they took that from mexican revolution hero Emiliano Zapata, but he said “better to die standing than live kneeling”.
♥♥♥
