    Just a note on the Creative Commons license: Share Alike just means that if you make modifications to the model, you need to use the same license for your remix if you share it publicly. You're not compelled to share remixes of the file if you're just using it personally (although you probably should).

    Funny thing is tht I better get into selling on Etsy because I bought 10 3D Printers that were on eBay marked "as is, for parts only" from people who either didn't know how to put them together, or took them apart for some reason, didn't know how to use design CAD software or slicers, or didn't know how to bed level or adjust Z heights and sold them as broken. Some did need replacement parts and a couple needed rewiring. But now with 10 printers I should sell stuff. So, I did open a shop that I better start using. Plus I do my own designs as well.

      @@LuzdyOG Yea just have to find what's popular in Canada and capitalize on it. Like with marijuana becoming more of thing here and in Canada I've noticed a lot of things can be made with 3d printing that people will buy. Just the other day I saw that people like the idea of having a base stand for their bongs so it's harder for them to fall over and with how expensive some bongs can get I see why. Something I sell a lot to dispensaries is cases to carry joints in that are fully 3d printed, it can hold 7 joints and sell them for $2 each to the shops and they sell them for w/e they want (or sell them joints inside). But only costs me around 50 cents to print and I only sell in big bulk to make it worth my time.

    One question I struggle finding a answer to is can you legally sell a remix of a design? The Remix is under the Creative Commons - Attribution license, while the original that the remix was based off is under Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial license. Would it be best to just steer clear of it?

    • @glennbrian3d
      @glennbrian3d  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm not a lawyer so I can't provide legal advice but, if it's non-commercial or the original was non-commercial then I would steer clear of it not only for legal reasons but because it's not right to take someone's design they didn't want you using for commercial reasons

    I tried Etsy, and in Canada, we get hosed on shipping; Etsy defaults to Canada Post, and they rip you off for shipping. A few guys use envelopes and ship them as letter mail. I would not use anything offline; I have consulted with a Lawyer about this and could be sued for downloading designs. The intellectual Property Lawyer said, " Regardless if an item is listed as public domain, it still is subject to ownership and could be challenged." I actually was challenged on a design I printed out which was listed as public domain and free to sell, and the designer demanded removal. So, I only build my structures or custom for sale.

      I've even been challenged on Etsy on things that I've designed myself, The thing is someone's going to be really stupid to sue you over $200 or even $2,000 since it cost way more than that, but I'm no lawyer, just some dude on TH-cam 😜

    • @glennbrian3d
      @glennbrian3d  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Adam, if you're going to sell small things like $4 items you need to sell a lot of them, making only one or two color options available will help with this when things get hectic, if someone has a special request you need to come up with what your time is worth, so say if you're charging $50 an hour to design it would only take you about 3 minutes to 1.5 times the size so I would just charge him extra $5 or so for your time and then whatever your need to charge for the cost I'm going to make a video specifically on what to charge for your 3D prints soon

    So you sell something for 5.99 that costs about a dollar for materials and electricity, wear and tear on your printers, the box to ship in, shipping (if you include shipping as some do.) and still make a profit? Not to mention the value of your time... I'd love to hear how you ship cheaply and cover loss( Shipping loss or customer lies and says the didn't get it...)

      I try to remain at a 90% profit margin, anything under $10 usually isn't worth it but it all depends on who you are and how much you need to make, it's about making the processes efficient as possible, so that you're making a few hundred dollars in just an hour's worth of work
