These trucks are worked to their limits and far beyond. Without these mechanics keeping these trucks on the road, transport would stop.

I'm amazed that those guys can get the new bushing 'clocked' in the arms so well with nothing much more than experience and a keen eye!
All this and a very precise swing and a hit with that maul. As I said, I am amazed!!

@@yamahajapan5351 It's not an 'official' term, but a lot of mechanics use the word 'clock' an item, as in these pieces that must align with the bolt holes of the spring mount and torque arm, or simply, 'align one item so that it will fit another in a mechanical assembly.
Lord knows I wouldn't wanna be the dude holding those parts in place while the other guy is giving full sledgehammer blows. Only takes one bad swing to end up like that guy doing compressor repairs with no fingers left after the first joint.

I continually admire the ingenuity and work ethic of these men and boys featured. That said, I also see some cringeworthy things occasionally. In this vid, I would have felt much better if the guy swinging the sledge had been standing at 90 degrees from the guy holding the parts. And the parts boy needed to be somewhere getting a cold drink or something. Again, props for their work ethic. Just be a little safer.

I seen a lot of people use motor oil to wipe the walls of the bushing before driving in, They said motor oil is better then grease.
Makes sense, thinner with better viscosity.
When you don't have a press, just use a big hammer. Hammers of various sizes are the main tools used here.

A simple jack could be used to press out and in the parts that would be cheap and safer than to have a broken hand or arm.
Impressive with 15 tons of boulders still on the dump bed. I bet these guys would really appreciate a 3/4 drive socket set.. All simple wrenches..

buy a couple ratchets and make it easier on yourselves
going well untill they missed out the lock washers behind the nuts...guaranteed to come loose.

Its bad enough you have to argue with the parts guy about just getting the damned bushing, granted I will use a press, only because I don't have a buddy I trust with a 25# sledge
