UPDATE: This Lincoln sold in its Bring a Trailer auction. It is heading to an automotive museum in Budapest, Hungary! Here is a link to the Bring a Trailer auction for this 1979 Lincoln: bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-lincoln-continental-mark-v-57/
This belongs in a museum with all the effort that must have gone into getting/keeping everything straight. Let's hope they give it a run out occasionally to keep in nice working order. Hope they also have the right climate/humidity controls.
Simply stunning!...one of my favorite cars as a young boy. Back then only wealthy people had electric windows and cruise control which was mind blowing for a young boy. Thanks for the memories.
1980 in Tehran, my neighbor had a Mark V in a metallic Brown and a beige on top!! At age 12 every time I pass that car my mouth was wide open and my eyes popped out😂 Beautiful video ❤ and an epic car👍🙏
Love this car , beautiful color, love the chrome and real bumpers. Made the cars look nice. Cars today look too plain, no chrome to make it stand out. Again beautiful.
Gorgeous American classic, These type of vehicles from that era are so unique and special, they have a presence about them unlike anything else really.
I'm from the UK and have never seen one of these in the flesh, but it reminds me of all the car chases in American cop programs i used to watch as a child.I'd love to have a drive in it.Bet it's as soft as silk
It was one of my dream cars when I was in college. These heavy gas guzzlers provide a much more stable ride than today's cars. The older it gets, the classier it looks.
I fell in love with this car while watching the series: CANNON, it's William Conrad's car at the time in this series and I still love this car as much!!!
VeryCool,I was just watching an episode of Cannon….What a coincidence, like an hour before I read this comment, funny….Yes,it is a Beautiful, Beautiful Car!!!!!
We had the 79 town car version. Four doors, very similar color and wheels, velour interior. Magic carpet ride. My dad probably kept it for 20 years. The Mark v coupe seems to have sharper exterior lines than the town car sedan.
Cant believe how clean this car is. Absolutely gorgeous, so classy.....great color and interior too. Certain color & wheel style combos look ugly on these older cars- this one is perfect. A dual exhaust would also be great. I LOVE the letter/font style on the dashboard, the P R N D and speedometer look so good. A real gem of a car. The lines/shape of the car look great, its aged very well. Timeless
I had a 1978 Mark V around 20 years ago. Not a "special edition". Medium metallic blue with a white top and mostly white interior. Beautiful car, but it didn't fit in my garage and got less than 8 mpg. As big as it was on the outside, it was amazingly small on the inside. As nice as it looked, it had problems, especially the Duraspark II ignition, which left me stranded a few times. I kept it for a little over a year and gave up.
7:11 This is what kids today don't understand about horsepower. It was the torque that mattered in everyday driving with these vehicles and they moved along just fine. The American manufacturers were actually brilliant in using the detuned, almost strangled, big V8s because you couldn't kill the torque numbers in them and they did the job with great smoothness too.
@@williamcochran3281 some black interiors are very good if they have black leather with wooden trim but now this days a lot of different colors interior has gone unfortunately
I have found many times that static in the volume control/knob is dust. With the radio turned off. Move the control back and forth several times. Might fix your radio issue.
Talk about eye candy 🍬! There’s nothing manufactured today that can hold a gaze - well maybe a chromed out Escalade. These Marks are mobile works of art.
My parent's friend bought one of these brand new, Quad, instead of a stereo Lincoln used, so they offered Quad in these cars. Being young then that was the only thing that interested me.
Excellent demonstration of a beautifully maintained Mk V. Sadly, the Mk series (and FoMoCo at large) were well past their prime by this era. The 460 was gone, Lincoln was sharing the same dash/IP with Ford and Mercury, and the build quality and reliability of these were absolutely dreadful. Give me a '71 Mk III or '72 Mk IV and I'm *there* !

Hungary? That's a crime.

Man that’s a beautiful example of how nice cars used to be
So what is happened...

It's because engineering got more important than bling bling, i personally find that a good evolution

I had one in white for 5 years it was the most elegant car I ever owned

Beautiful!! I've had 2 different Lincoln's but I wasn't lucky enough to get a Mark V!!
I had a classmate who used to get picked up from school in a Mark just like this one. I used to ogle it nonstop! Beautiful then and now.

This car has not aged a single bit despite the years that have passed!!
Its the only car he could fit into
@@drumswest5035
Ah yes, I can imagine that given the strong build of our friend William Conrad, but the choice of car was excellent!!
Bloody beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful Mark 5, brother. And you have her detailed so well, very pretty big gal right there. JV Johnny ⚾⚾
Whatta creampuff! Love the 2tone interior leather. Turbine wheels! Noice!
What a magnificent car. Stunning colour combination. I was the proud owner of a 70 Mark 3. Had it for 14 years.
I want one. Never ceases to amaze me such a long car has only 2 doors.
Incredible,Incredible Car!!!!!!It looks like it’s 25 feet long,So Cool….
You could land an aircraft on that hood, dang. Great example of a classic personal luxury coupe.

What a wonderful car. It Looks and rides like a new one. Thanks a lot for showing us.❤️
What an amazingly gorgeous Lincoln. This beauty won’t last long.
AMAZING BEAUTY … I had a 1976 🏆🏆🏆 I want this one !!! Beau of Laguna Beach 💜🌴💜
I drove one like this - same exterior/interior colors - for a family. It was like piloting a big beautiful boat.

Beautiful classic. See it went for $36K!
Surprising, thought it would be closer to 50k
To fix it add another $36.
Just beautiful 😍

Well they did kill the torque as well. Lower compression ratios to meet emission standards robs both power and torque.
@@foxxster3565 Relative to the previous numbers, but they were still decent enough to move these vehicles.
Sharp looking car 🤩🤩
Prestige in every sense is worth a thousand likes.❤❤❤
I believe that the Mark V was perhaps the most prestigious Lincoln built. This one is a stunning surviver. Curious the price.
My brother in law had this car when I was 17 snd he would let me drive it all the time!
One of my all time favorite cars ever!
that car looks great, 1979 is when I graduated from high school.
When this thing was new, I used to call them tuna boats. You had to change lanes often just to keep a Cessna 150 from trying to land on it! 🛩️
Absolutely Gorgeous!
That is one big machine. Mistook it for Frank Cannon’s in tv series but I think he drove a MK IV. A beauty all the same.
Beautiful oldie
I Love vehicles that don't have a black cabin.

Same here. I hate black interiors.

Cela est vrai. En couleur c'est bien mieux.
Это год моего рождения-этому красавцу 45 лет!!!💪Но выглядит он лучше, чем я сейчас…😆
Una Verdadera Obra de Arte, Espectacular👍
I remember that car. My best friends Mom had one (1978) in a pale, silvery blue color.
Beautiful. Someone took great care.

These yank tanks always had such short wheelbases compared to their overall length but I've never found out why
Wowwwwwww..... .perfect. I love classic cars .❤❤❤
Beautiful ❤️
Wow... absolutely stunning. It took my breath away. It was mine I'd keep it in the house and remind myself every day what a masterpiece it is. 🫢🤗🤗
Nice cruiser. Didn't see the cornering lights come on though.
That is beautiful! So much nicer than modern rubbish.
2:04 fail xD
Hermoso coche, gracias por el video.
Maravilloso ❤❤
It may takes a great deal of work to keep this car in such a great condition.
Need a dust free, well lit clean garage. Wide garage doors too.
Had three of them and they loved wax
Superbe voiture avec tous les gadgets de notre époque !
Vrai mais ça coûterait une fortune rouler une auto car la consommation d essence est immense
You'd need a box of Q-tips to clean those wheels and grill. Ouch.
