It had a lot of cool things going for it visually and audibly, like this boss fight, even though he's kinda bland in gameplay.
Just on an aesthetic level, this is one of the best fights in the game. Bob Barbas is insane; fighting as a giant head Tron head, forcing you into a brief enemy gauntlet, broadcasting the news while you're fighting him, distorting reality, trolling you, AND parodying Fox News. Despite being easy, aside from Vergil, this is lit AF.
This was a nice boss fight. Sure, I'll admit, Barbas was a bit too easy (even on Dante Must Die), but the mood of the fight is what makes it stand out; you're fighting a digital version of the bastard's head, while in between phases, the camera acts from a helicopter's point of view, giving it more of a news broadcast feel. Add that with the digital battlefield and music for the main portion of the fight, and you've got a perfectly designed boss fight.
Sam Barron just a comment on your "digital version of the bastards head" thing, while that is what you attack, you can also see the rest of his body there as part of a gyroscopic background element.

I was a hater of this game, I was one of those shallow immature jerks that attacked the game because of Dante's hair (yes I admit and confess I was a fool) but one day out of curiousity, I checked out the game and saw this boss fight. This fights shows me how creative and fun the game actually is than what most fools hyped it not to be. I remember I instantly went to the shop and got it, and today I have no regret of getting it. The graphics, weapon designs, level designs, fluidity of the game and boss fights are some of the best works I seen among the DMC series, the game worth every penny it ask for.

I have Devil May Cry 5. It’s a gorgeous game. I’m still playing DMC tho’. Dope message. Dope Soundtrack. Dope gameplay. Dope everything. The writing is simply genius.

Here we get a few gameplay sections that are just as dinamic as the rest of the game seen form the perspective of a security camera or a helicopter camera while Bob Barbas gives us some character development of Dante, or expository dialogue or some BS that its just there to give the ambience of a news network depending on how you look at it. Either way its pretty Badass.
modern games love a flowing story and a progressing plot, requiring the character to match the pacing to keep the story moving bosses are an inherently disruptive mechanic made to be a roadblock to the storyline we don't see it too often anymore, and that's exactly why.

This is a really cool battle. I have been stuck on it for almost 6 years because Capcom never explained that the dots on the floor is how you "start" the battle. Ugh. I never thought to look it up either because I was arrogant and thought I'd figure it out someday.
Capcom has always relied on visual teaching tools rather than handholding text messages to guide players in the right direction. Could you imagine if MegaMan had a text box at a pit that said, "Press A to jump"?
