Just replayed the game as I replayed most games as nostalgia. DMC3 had my fingers sore because how fast i had to interact with controller like crazy and i was afraid my controller would malfunction. Here gameplay, graphics and level design are better but the way they butchered Character especially VERGIL............. OH I wanted to strangle the developers for making vergil look weak, pathetic, moderate (Not even 1 bit of power hunger left) and not one bit intriguing like he was in dmc3. I loved Vergil more than dante in dmc3.

RE4 and DMC3. I have played a few fighting games in past and VERGIL VS. DANTE are my top rival battles then KYO VS. IORI from KOF. Black Knight Alright I can understand easy factor of the game but the other two I thought were cool. I don't listen to that type of music on my occasion but whether you like it or not, that music went well with this game. We're not in a castle this time. It's more modern.
Christian Lampley thing with music is that it makes fights more entertaining, but in this game it wasn't as diverse, hell... remember DMC2? The game took place in a city but they still used organ, some metal there or other cool sound variations. They could've worked at least a bit harder imo, it just feels i'm hearing the same tone all over again. Also, i hate swearing in games just for the sake of doing it, if you liked it, fine no prob. But i hated it.

This is why I like AngryJoe, he didn't base his review SOLELY on the new Dante, while I agree the new Dante was a mistake, I'm glad that he didn't try to say the entire game is trash because he didn't like the main character, something that too many people like to do.
People are starting to change their opinion on DmC and I am really glad to see it. I think that the more time passes, the more people will be able to appreciate DmC for what it is, rather than what it was supposed to be in their minds. The soundtack was just GREAT, the limbo visuals were stunning and the combat was very fluid and all around fun for people untainted by wanting more timing combo craziness. I loved the shit out of this game when it first came out and I even see some influence it had on DMC 5 in terms of visual design. I really hope we will at one point get a DmC sequel along with a main line game so that everyone is happy.

The music in DMC is actually my favorite aspect of the game. And I quite liked the game too. I really can't say a bad word about the soundtrack, it was produced by Noisia and if you're not neccessarily opposed to some d'n'b influences it sets a spectacular atmosphere to the game.
I unironically enjoy the Blood on the Dance Floor song at the beginning, because of how amazingly shitty it is. And good on them for not copyright claiming, that is legit commendable!

Hurr Durr I know that you cannot always please everyone, but there is nothing wrong with continuing normal storyline established in 4 freaking games, the worst devil was devil may cry 2, but it was followed by excellent 3, and for some even better 4, devil 4 was a really good game, last thing this franchise needed was a full reboot. There is sooo much material to cover from previous games, and in a cool way. Perhaps Vergil's spin off how he tries to escape from hell, or how Nero arm reacts to yamato virgil sword, is nero his son? that would mean Dante is his uncle ( this is really visible in devil 4) But there is no sequel so we never know. Or perhaps Dante lost someone and now hes blindly seeking revenge, and turned from playful mercenary into serious and efficient killing machine (more like dante from 2 game). But dmc takes all concepts that made Dante Dante and throws them into mix that dont make any sense.

I think the the same thing would happen. If the new Dante came out with the emo white hair and originally had the emo black hair, everyone would hate it. With anything popular, people almost always say, "Well, it's not as good as the original!.", even if it's clearly better than the original. Now, I wonder why people do THAT?

Reboot was actually my first DMC. I found it to be alright and wasn't triggered by the dante change... mainly because I didn't know what the original Dante looked like. I promptly bought the first 3 games on PS2 and I can definitely say, original Dante is fucking badass.

My biggest issue with this game is its name. This could've been its own franchise. The only things this has in common with its predecessor, lore-wise, is the character names and the fact that there are demons. This could've also simply been another story in the DMC world with new characters.

Funny guy, but obviously doesn't reach Original Dante. Maybe if DmC gets a sequel, we'll see him grow into that more grizzled cockiness.

honestly Joe, the reasons DMC pisses me off is they changed EVERYTHING about Dante and Virgil as well as their relationship, Dante had a red coat with black insides, he had a sword bigger than Sparda's head, ebony and ivory were M1911s instead of revolvers as shown in DMC, Virgil wore blue and red with a katana, and the relationship between the two was that they were at each others' throats unless there was an enemy of higher priority, plus Dante never smoked, he drank, he had never worked unless it payed off his debt (in the lore and story of DMC3 he was constantly in debt and never payed anyone back) had something to do with devil (and Joe, they ARE called Devils, not demons) or if it payed so he could buy pizza and strawberry sundaes (dante's two favorite foods) this is why i honestly like DMC3 better, its lore friendly, its true to the Manga and Anime, it also shows how Dante trully is on a personal level, also DMC5 (the one you are writing the review about) had gotten the definition of Nephilim wrong, it is a mixture of demon (in this case its a Devil) and a human, while DMC5 thinks its angel and demon, i also hate the realism in combat, Dante is a nephilim, he doesnt have the flaws of a human in comat, he is supposed to seem invincible and impossible

SN1P3R_W0LF_2573 This game takes place before Dante starts demon hunting, so he's even younger in this one than he was in DMC3, which explains why he never met virgil up until this point and how they become enemies at the end. Story structure was changed and it's to take place during dante's origins, how he rose up to beome a Demon hunter, which is where they left off towards the end of this game.

I've noticed basically every complaint about Dante and Vergil is that they aren't like the previous versions. Do people not grasp what a reboot is? EVERYTHING is rebooted. The characters, the world, all of it. Dante and Vergil in this game fit in with the world they live in, just like the past Dante and Vergil fit into their world. Also, this Vergil has no honor? When did the previous Vergil? He was willing to do whatever he had to in order to get what he wanted. He didn't care about anyone, not even Dante. I've played and beaten every Devil May Cry, and people seem to be wearing nostalgia glasses or something. The new Dante is supposed to start out unlikable and a total jerk. As for Kat not doing anything, she did a lot more than Joe gave her credit for. Like Dante says in the game, they would have failed twenty times over if not for her. Also, I'm pretty sure she was giving Dante shit when she told him what was in the spray can, because she looked pretty amused while telling him. Overall, everything fit well together in this game. If they had used the old Dante and Vergil, they would have been sorely out of place in this world. this isn't some dark, gothic world. It's a more modern take on things, so you can't handle characterization the same way, or it just won't work.
When we say Vergil had honor what we mean is that he always fought his opponents in a straight up fight. He didn't use cheap tricks to take down his enemies and always fought his opponents head on. Sure he would do whatever it took to gain power, but he had a good reason for wanting it. His mother was horribly murdered without him being able to do anything. His grief is what drove him to seek power so he would never be helpless again. His actions were wrong, but the motivation behind them was understandable. While there are obviously going to be changes in a reboot there still needs to be enough similarities for the old fans to figure out who these characters are supposed to be. You could argue that the changes to Dante weren't that bad, but Vergil was a completely different person. I never would have guessed that he was supposed to be Vergil if the game hadn't told me ahead of time.
DevilHunter1994 As I recall, he didn't need cheap tricks because of just how damned good he was. DmC Dante and Vergil are obviously younger at this point than the DMC Dante and Vergil were in 3. The only reason this Vergil uses the cheap tricks is because he doesn't have the pure skill the original Vergil has. The same is true of Dante. You can see it in this game in the combos. At the end of some of them, Dante stumbles after the final attack. That shows this is still pretty early in their lives. In DMC 3, they were both young, yes, but were definitely older than their DmC versions. That means they both had longer to work on their skills, and for Vergil to get scary good at kicking Dante's ass, since the game referenced the fact (DMC 3 did) that Dante and Vergil had apparently fought before, because Dante didn't like Vergil's methods. The bottom line is, I like both versions of Dante and Vergil. I'd like to see them make a game that crosses over the two worlds, so we could see the two Vergils against the two Dantes.
TimedRevolver Actually from what I hear the characters in DmC are actually a bit older. DMC 3 Dante and Vergil were 19 and DmC Dante and Vergil were apparently 23. The differences just come from the fact that the characters are completely unique from one another.

It's not an Easter Egg. Those are either items, moments, or references within a game that are hidden and either ofund or collected to hint at something else, most likely any property. The white hair gag is just Ninja Theory slapping older fans in the face by saying "OUR DONTE IZ BETER". But him not having white hair doesn't matter. It's just they didn't need to needlessly insult people and, on TOP of that, throw in a DMC 3 Dante costume to appease people later.

I believe that the reboot had a lot of problems, but to be frank, your comment basically comes across to me as "my opinion is better than everybody else's". All the plots in the DMC series were paper thin, by the way. Even Devil May Cry 3 - which is a fantastic game - had a pretty rock stupid plot.

There have been plenty of instances in my life where I've had an opinion on something, but understood the merit in another person's opinion. Anyway, regarding the plots before the reboot, they were *dirt simple* to the point of almost coming off as parody. DMC1 and DMC2 had plots I could seriously write under a day. 3 and 4 were somewhat more complex, but are still pretty simple, standard-fare video game plots. Epic story telling, it ain't. The reboot's writing is kinda stupid too: They *all* have that issue.

Sorry to Kyrie fans from DMC 4 if there are, but Kat only get kidnapped once and it is because she sacrificed herself to save the 2 brothers. Kyrie got kidnapped like 4 times and went to find trouble to save a kid from a monster although she does not have any powers. Kat got tortured by Mundus but was headstrong enough to not reveal any information. Kyrie was crying for Nero when her own clumsiness let her get caught by Angus
Keiko Amano Yeah, when you think about it DmC is kind of Kat's game. I think the ending to Mission 12 is my favorite cutscene. She's honestly more of a "Kairi" or, childhood friend character if you will. Of course, she isn't a childhood friend, but hopefully you get the archetype.

Trick question, it's both DMC3 Dante and Reboot: Dante. The only difference is the hairstyle and a couple extra cuss-words. DMC3 and DmC: Reboot are also the highest rated but sold the least out of the whole series.
Sora744 I already know these similarities between DMC3 and reboot. But the main reason for me why the reboot dante was different than DMC3 Dante is his way of talking. I think the main difference between the two Dante's personalities is the original one is calm headed and sarcastic. On the other hand,reboot one is agressive and short tempered. The original one always roasts his enemies and sometimes pisses them off where the reboot one always tries to intimidate his enemies (i'm not saying that he says Fuck You all the time) and that triggers them. One likes sarcasm and the other one likes to insult. I do agree with you that, there are some similarities in the formats of both games,but the two dantes are completely different from each other in the matter of their personalities.
So the way I see it: Music: 9/10 Fucking amazing soundtrack, makes me feel badass while I play it. Gamplay: 8/10 Really good and fastpace gameplay with tons of action packed combat. HOWEVER DT is shit, garbage, like it's here to give me HP back, that's it. Also the "use the red weapon for the red enemy" is cancer, really. But the rest is amazing. I had more options to do combos than in ANY DMC game. It's combining Nero, Dante and Vergil into one character, of course not that much, but you can feel every style from every character in this Dante. Stages: 9.5/10 I came. It's beautiful. You can see how much time and effort they have put in it. The only problem is too much red colour. I love red colour it's my favourite, BUT too much is just too much. In the end the best stages in all of DMC history. I found myself enjoying more of platforming stages than the fighting ones just because they look so good. Characters: 2/10 They are all trash. Just no. I can say that I HATE every single character. They are all pale. I can't remember them. Dante: Emo fag that swears a lot. Virgil: Fucking pussy. The chick: Girl with fucking semen. The voice actors did a shitty job. Every time I hear Dante talk I wish to cut myself. Story: 7/10 It's nice, nothing too much, but I like the concept of it even tho it's used too much and we all know it's actually happening now. Like it, but it's nothing special. My judgement is 6.5~7/10 I like it, it's fun it's good, it's not DMC 3, but it's not like it's shit. I played it 3 times untill I passed in Son of Sparda. I tried to skip every cutsceen because of the characters. I'd recomend it to everyone, but you lose the replay value after passing it once or twice.
I like the design of the game a lot. Not only how the characters look (Dantes design fits the character very well), but the stage transition of the limbo, the choice of color and this obsidian-ish looking black stuff to limit the playing area gives the game a vibe that i enjoyed through the 8 hours it took me to play through nephilim difficulty.

I know it's been 3 years, and I mostly agree with your take, but more options? DMC4 Dante had far more options and much deeper mechanics than this. DMC4 Dante's guns have about 3 times as many moves as reboot Dante's and he also has 5 styles. Sure, he only has 3 devil arms, but each devil arm has much deeper movesets than the reboot's weapons. DmC Dante is just a heavily watered-down down DMC4 Dante with Nero's Snatch. Even DMC3 offers more in many aspects.
The wig joke is a insult to the fanbase who wanted a legit Devil May Cry 5 and not a reboot, also Ninja Theory and the head of the company Tameem is on record saying that the classic Dante is old, boring, stupid and tired.
Dante slowly becomes the "old new Dante" towards the end of the game. The Developers wanted people to notice that awesome change but they forgot that people "judge a book by its cover" too many times. "Errr, black hair? He's emo and i don't like it! Booo!" Have you even stopped to think the "why" for his new look? The Devs wanted a cold heartless bastard, in the beginning, so they could make a true badass hero, in the end, which is what they did. To me, it's perfect.

It's ok, dude. I also loved DMC4. Why does everyone either ignore DMC4 or straight up hate it? What bad was there in that game again? It was perfect! And the special edition of DMC4 improved it! By adding more story details, like Vergil, and giving Lady and Trish their own story too! Sure, you had to play Lady and Trish together, not separately, but still, I liked that idea. Why don't more people acknowledge or respect DMC4? It was an amazing game! Pretty much perfect. From the voice acting, to it's jokes, to the character models, to the music, to the design of the demons and enemy bosses. Sure, I didn't like how you had to backtrack as Dante towards the end of the game, but playing as Dante was fun anyways. And the Dark Slayer style was awesome to use. I mean, the backtracking makes sense, in context, that Dante has to go back and destroy the demon gates, which are the reason WHY the demons are there and killing people in the first place, in Fortuna! I loved how Dante destroys each of the gates! With his newly acquired weapons! Like that awesome transforming briefcase, then the rose weapon, and finally, his brother's katana, the Yamato. I also loved how Dante entrusted the Yamato to Nero at the end of the game. I also liked Nero, though he does act like Dante a bit too much. But, he's still an awesome character. Don't know why everyone hates him too. Seems like everybody just hates DMC4 just to hate it. It's fine if people don't like it, but to just outright take their anger out on it makes NO sense to me. It's a perfectly fine game, with virtually ZERO flaws. And a special edition that improves the gameplay and lore of the series, even if it's only by a tiny bit. But to be fair, it's difficult, if not impossible to improve on the perfection that is DMC4.

@@shutendoji470 Ok, fair enough. I get it. DMC4 was the first multi-platform DMC game. It was from a different generation, felt different in many ways, that being one of them. You played as a different character for the majority of the game, fought Dante himself during the tutorial, played as Nero, who had different powers than Dante, but acted like Dante during DMC3, kind of like a punk. Plus, Nero was played by former 2nd Black Power Ranger, and the voice of Kaneda from Akira, as well as the voice of Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, Johnny Yong Bosch. He was also a huge reason why I loved DMC4. I loved Nero's gameplay, his Devil Bringer and the Buster move he had, it had a unique move and animation against literally every enemy, even bosses. His Devil Trigger wasn't as cool, but it did have everyone who played it wondering if Nero was related to Vergil and Dante. Which, spoiler, he IS. But, the game wasn't perfect. The backtracking as Dante was probably the worst part of the game. But, Dante was having fun during the cutscenes, destroying the hell gates with his new weapons, and the Yamato. And, fighting a giant statue that looked like his father, Sparda. While trying to rescue Nero and Kyrie. And, the final fight with Sanctus Diabolica, and the way Nero finishes him off, by slamming him against the wall with his Devil Bringer, while using the Yamato to free Kyrie, and then, stabbing Sanctus WITH it too! And I love the music too. And, I'd love to play an entire game as Nero. At the end, Dante passes the Yamato on to Nero because I think he knew, Nero was Vergil's son. And, just like Dante's father giving both him and Vergil the Yamato and the Rebellion, Dante gives Nero the Yamato. And, the end credits music was pretty awesome too. But, it sucks how Nero loses the Yamato in 5. But, he does get his Devil Bringer back though... and learns about his family and his past. Learning Vergil is his father, Dante is his uncle, and Sparda is his grandfather. Because Nero thought he was an orphan. He grew up with Credo(Kyrie's brother), and Kyrie herself. They both saw Nero as family too. And Credo mentored Nero and taught him how to fight, and Nero was given The Red Queen, which was a standard Holy Knight's sword, which he complexly modified into his own, with the Exceed system. And he had his own revolver, the Blue Rose too. Which he also modified to fire 2 shots at the same time, and modified it to work against demons. And when Nero was old enough, Credo let him join the Holy Knights, which worked for the Order Of The Sword, lead by Sanctus, the main bad guy. And Nico, the artisan of arms who works with Nero in 5, is apparently the daughter of Agnus, one of the douchey holy knights who kidnapped Kyrie, and artificially created a number of the demons that were attacking Fortuna, the setting of DMC4. Nero defeats him, but gets stabbed by him, and gets his DT powers. While Agnus runs away like a little bitch. While Credo was fine with being a part of these things, and was also working with the Order and their evil plan. And Nero had to fight him. But, as that fight was winding down, Kyrie somehow got there, and she saw Nero beating up her brother, and got the wrong idea. Then, Credo is all like "Nero, we must set aside this battle until I find the truth of this", and flies away. And, then, Kyrie gets kidnapped, and Credo decides he's going to rescue his sister. Along with Nero. So, he betrays Sanctus, and tries to rescue both Nero and his sister. But, he gets stabbed by the Yamato, and as he dies, he asks Dante to rescue both of them. And then, he does. And then, there was a DMC4 Special Edition. It's the only version of 4 I haven't played. I had to watch someone else play it. I wish I had a way to play the Special Edition of 4. Just for the gameplay and extra story bits alone. Being a hardcore DMC fan, I feel like I'm missing out here. Thanks for the good points on 4.

Just replayed the game as I replayed most games as nostalgia. DMC3 had my fingers sore because how fast i had to interact with controller like crazy and i was afraid my controller would malfunction. Here gameplay, graphics and level design are better but the way they butchered Character especially VERGIL............. OH I wanted to strangle the developers for making vergil look weak, pathetic, moderate (Not even 1 bit of power hunger left) and not one bit intriguing like he was in dmc3. I loved Vergil more than dante in dmc3.

Black Knight Alright I can understand easy factor of the game but the other two I thought were cool. I don't listen to that type of music on my occasion but whether you like it or not, that music went well with this game. We're not in a castle this time. It's more modern.
Christian Lampley thing with music is that it makes fights more entertaining, but in this game it wasn't as diverse, hell... remember DMC2? The game took place in a city but they still used organ, some metal there or other cool sound variations. They could've worked at least a bit harder imo, it just feels i'm hearing the same tone all over again. Also, i hate swearing in games just for the sake of doing it, if you liked it, fine no prob. But i hated it.

People are starting to change their opinion on DmC and I am really glad to see it. I think that the more time passes, the more people will be able to appreciate DmC for what it is, rather than what it was supposed to be in their minds.
The soundtack was just GREAT, the limbo visuals were stunning and the combat was very fluid and all around fun for people untainted by wanting more timing combo craziness.
I loved the shit out of this game when it first came out and I even see some influence it had on DMC 5 in terms of visual design. I really hope we will at one point get a DmC sequel along with a main line game so that everyone is happy.

The music in DMC is actually my favorite aspect of the game. And I quite liked the game too. I really can't say a bad word about the soundtrack, it was produced by Noisia and if you're not neccessarily opposed to some d'n'b influences it sets a spectacular atmosphere to the game.

Hurr Durr I know that you cannot always please everyone, but there is nothing wrong with continuing normal storyline established in 4 freaking games, the worst devil was devil may cry 2, but it was followed by excellent 3, and for some even better 4, devil 4 was a really good game, last thing this franchise needed was a full reboot. There is sooo much material to cover from previous games, and in a cool way. Perhaps Vergil's spin off how he tries to escape from hell, or how Nero arm reacts to yamato virgil sword, is nero his son? that would mean Dante is his uncle ( this is really visible in devil 4) But there is no sequel so we never know. Or perhaps Dante lost someone and now hes blindly seeking revenge, and turned from playful mercenary into serious and efficient killing machine (more like dante from 2 game). But dmc takes all concepts that made Dante Dante and throws them into mix that dont make any sense.

Also nobody wanted this reboot... sales for Devil may cry franchise was increasing with every new game, ppl where buying those games becasue they established firm plot and characters with their continuity in later games, we had something new in each devil, meanwhile dmc is the worst sold devil to date, with the worst user review scores. Its a mess, the only good thing about this game is level design, and thats it. Also there is difference between ending something and leaving it unfinished, which is the case in Devil may cry 4.

Reboot was actually my first DMC. I found it to be alright and wasn't triggered by the dante change... mainly because I didn't know what the original Dante looked like. I promptly bought the first 3 games on PS2 and I can definitely say, original Dante is fucking badass.

My biggest issue with this game is its name. This could've been its own franchise. The only things this has in common with its predecessor, lore-wise, is the character names and the fact that there are demons. This could've also simply been another story in the DMC world with new characters.

honestly Joe, the reasons DMC pisses me off is they changed EVERYTHING about Dante and Virgil as well as their relationship, Dante had a red coat with black insides, he had a sword bigger than Sparda's head, ebony and ivory were M1911s instead of revolvers as shown in DMC, Virgil wore blue and red with a katana, and the relationship between the two was that they were at each others' throats unless there was an enemy of higher priority, plus Dante never smoked, he drank, he had never worked unless it payed off his debt (in the lore and story of DMC3 he was constantly in debt and never payed anyone back) had something to do with devil (and Joe, they ARE called Devils, not demons) or if it payed so he could buy pizza and strawberry sundaes (dante's two favorite foods) this is why i honestly like DMC3 better, its lore friendly, its true to the Manga and Anime, it also shows how Dante trully is on a personal level, also DMC5 (the one you are writing the review about) had gotten the definition of Nephilim wrong, it is a mixture of demon (in this case its a Devil) and a human, while DMC5 thinks its angel and demon, i also hate the realism in combat, Dante is a nephilim, he doesnt have the flaws of a human in comat, he is supposed to seem invincible and impossible

This game takes place before Dante starts demon hunting, so he's even younger in this one than he was in DMC3, which explains why he never met virgil up until this point and how they become enemies at the end. Story structure was changed and it's to take place during dante's origins, how he rose up to beome a Demon hunter, which is where they left off towards the end of this game.

To not blame it on ninja, the game was fun, and the new design of Dante was capcom's idea, they want him different from the original "appeal" more to western public.

I've noticed basically every complaint about Dante and Vergil is that they aren't like the previous versions.
Do people not grasp what a reboot is? EVERYTHING is rebooted. The characters, the world, all of it. Dante and Vergil in this game fit in with the world they live in, just like the past Dante and Vergil fit into their world.
Also, this Vergil has no honor? When did the previous Vergil? He was willing to do whatever he had to in order to get what he wanted. He didn't care about anyone, not even Dante.
I've played and beaten every Devil May Cry, and people seem to be wearing nostalgia glasses or something. The new Dante is supposed to start out unlikable and a total jerk.
As for Kat not doing anything, she did a lot more than Joe gave her credit for. Like Dante says in the game, they would have failed twenty times over if not for her. Also, I'm pretty sure she was giving Dante shit when she told him what was in the spray can, because she looked pretty amused while telling him.
Overall, everything fit well together in this game. If they had used the old Dante and Vergil, they would have been sorely out of place in this world. this isn't some dark, gothic world. It's a more modern take on things, so you can't handle characterization the same way, or it just won't work.
When we say Vergil had honor what we mean is that he always fought his opponents in a straight up fight. He didn't use cheap tricks to take down his enemies and always fought his opponents head on. Sure he would do whatever it took to gain power, but he had a good reason for wanting it. His mother was horribly murdered without him being able to do anything. His grief is what drove him to seek power so he would never be helpless again. His actions were wrong, but the motivation behind them was understandable. While there are obviously going to be changes in a reboot there still needs to be enough similarities for the old fans to figure out who these characters are supposed to be. You could argue that the changes to Dante weren't that bad, but Vergil was a completely different person. I never would have guessed that he was supposed to be Vergil if the game hadn't told me ahead of time.

DmC Dante and Vergil are obviously younger at this point than the DMC Dante and Vergil were in 3. The only reason this Vergil uses the cheap tricks is because he doesn't have the pure skill the original Vergil has.
The same is true of Dante. You can see it in this game in the combos. At the end of some of them, Dante stumbles after the final attack. That shows this is still pretty early in their lives.
In DMC 3, they were both young, yes, but were definitely older than their DmC versions. That means they both had longer to work on their skills, and for Vergil to get scary good at kicking Dante's ass, since the game referenced the fact (DMC 3 did) that Dante and Vergil had apparently fought before, because Dante didn't like Vergil's methods.
The bottom line is, I like both versions of Dante and Vergil. I'd like to see them make a game that crosses over the two worlds, so we could see the two Vergils against the two Dantes.
TimedRevolver Actually from what I hear the characters in DmC are actually a bit older. DMC 3 Dante and Vergil were 19 and DmC Dante and Vergil were apparently 23. The differences just come from the fact that the characters are completely unique from one another.

It's not an Easter Egg. Those are either items, moments, or references within a game that are hidden and either ofund or collected to hint at something else, most likely any property. The white hair gag is just Ninja Theory slapping older fans in the face by saying "OUR DONTE IZ BETER". But him not having white hair doesn't matter. It's just they didn't need to needlessly insult people and, on TOP of that, throw in a DMC 3 Dante costume to appease people later.

The reboot sucks, I don't care what you say... it's shit. It's a pathetic attempt to appeal to these pathetic 'emo' crowds that know nothing about DMC in the first place. You add some shit paper-thin plot and ruin all the characters, you get rid of all the teutonic, demonic themes... It's pointless.
They've really screwed the pooch with this shit, it's a shitty game, a shitty progression, a poor attempted at revamping the series. Nothing but money grabbing whores, everyone who took place in this game's creation is an asshole, the writing is abysmal.
The atmosphere is gone, Dante's a complete tool and isn't even remotely likeable compared to the old one. The creatures are a joke in this production, I just can't take this game seriously, it's the 'Alien: Ressurection' of the DmC series..
I believe that the reboot had a lot of problems, but to be frank, your comment basically comes across to me as "my opinion is better than everybody else's".
All the plots in the DMC series were paper thin, by the way. Even Devil May Cry 3 - which is a fantastic game - had a pretty rock stupid plot.

No, that's not what an opinion is. An opinion is simply a viewpoint held by somebody. There have been plenty of instances in my life where I've had an opinion on something, but understood the merit in another person's opinion.
Anyway, regarding the plots before the reboot, they were *dirt simple* to the point of almost coming off as parody. DMC1 and DMC2 had plots I could seriously write under a day. 3 and 4 were somewhat more complex, but are still pretty simple, standard-fare video game plots. Epic story telling, it ain't.
The reboot's writing is kinda stupid too: They *all* have that issue.

Sorry to Kyrie fans from DMC 4 if there are, but Kat only get kidnapped once and it is because she sacrificed herself to save the 2 brothers. Kyrie got kidnapped like 4 times and went to find trouble to save a kid from a monster although she does not have any powers. Kat got tortured by Mundus but was headstrong enough to not reveal any information. Kyrie was crying for Nero when her own clumsiness let her get caught by Angus

Keiko Amano Yeah, when you think about it DmC is kind of Kat's game. I think the ending to Mission 12 is my favorite cutscene. She's honestly more of a "Kairi" or, childhood friend character if you will. Of course, she isn't a childhood friend, but hopefully you get the archetype.

I have not played a DMC game, but I am fairly certain that if one character in an alternate universe reboot said "Not in a million years" when they reference the older version of him, I would think that I would have said "That is a nice call back to the alternate universe idea"

DMC3 and DmC: Reboot are also the highest rated but sold the least out of the whole series.
Sora744 I already know these similarities between DMC3 and reboot. But the main reason for me why the reboot dante was different than DMC3 Dante is his way of talking. I think the main difference between the two Dante's personalities is the original one is calm headed and sarcastic. On the other hand,reboot one is agressive and short tempered. The original one always roasts his enemies and sometimes pisses them off where the reboot one always tries to intimidate his enemies (i'm not saying that he says Fuck You all the time) and that triggers them. One likes sarcasm and the other one likes to insult.
I do agree with you that, there are some similarities in the formats of both games,but the two dantes are completely different from each other in the matter of their personalities.

So the way I see it:
Music: 9/10 Fucking amazing soundtrack, makes me feel badass while I play it.
Gamplay: 8/10 Really good and fastpace gameplay with tons of action packed combat. HOWEVER DT is shit, garbage, like it's here to give me HP back, that's it. Also the "use the red weapon for the red enemy" is cancer, really. But the rest is amazing. I had more options to do combos than in ANY DMC game. It's combining Nero, Dante and Vergil into one character, of course not that much, but you can feel every style from every character in this Dante.
Stages: 9.5/10 I came. It's beautiful. You can see how much time and effort they have put in it. The only problem is too much red colour. I love red colour it's my favourite, BUT too much is just too much. In the end the best stages in all of DMC history. I found myself enjoying more of platforming stages than the fighting ones just because they look so good.
Characters: 2/10 They are all trash. Just no. I can say that I HATE every single character. They are all pale. I can't remember them. Dante: Emo fag that swears a lot. Virgil: Fucking pussy. The chick: Girl with fucking semen. The voice actors did a shitty job. Every time I hear Dante talk I wish to cut myself.
Story: 7/10 It's nice, nothing too much, but I like the concept of it even tho it's used too much and we all know it's actually happening now. Like it, but it's nothing special.
My judgement is 6.5~7/10 I like it, it's fun it's good, it's not DMC 3, but it's not like it's shit. I played it 3 times untill I passed in Son of Sparda. I tried to skip every cutsceen because of the characters. I'd recomend it to everyone, but you lose the replay value after passing it once or twice.
I like the design of the game a lot. Not only how the characters look (Dantes design fits the character very well), but the stage transition of the limbo, the choice of color and this obsidian-ish looking black stuff to limit the playing area gives the game a vibe that i enjoyed through the 8 hours it took me to play through nephilim difficulty.
Nikolić Pavle pretty concise. I agree completely. had fun with the reboot, just hated the characters. but damn, did they put in some work in on art direction and the soundtrack.
I know it's been 3 years, and I mostly agree with your take, but more options? DMC4 Dante had far more options and much deeper mechanics than this. DMC4 Dante's guns have about 3 times as many moves as reboot Dante's and he also has 5 styles. Sure, he only has 3 devil arms, but each devil arm has much deeper movesets than the reboot's weapons.
DmC Dante is just a heavily watered-down down DMC4 Dante with Nero's Snatch. Even DMC3 offers more in many aspects.

Dante slowly becomes the "old new Dante" towards the end of the game. The Developers wanted people to notice that awesome change but they forgot that people "judge a book by its cover" too many times.

It's ok, dude. I also loved DMC4. Why does everyone either ignore DMC4 or straight up hate it? What bad was there in that game again? It was perfect! And the special edition of DMC4 improved it! By adding more story details, like Vergil, and giving Lady and Trish their own story too! Sure, you had to play Lady and Trish together, not separately, but still, I liked that idea. Why don't more people acknowledge or respect DMC4? It was an amazing game! Pretty much perfect. From the voice acting, to it's jokes, to the character models, to the music, to the design of the demons and enemy bosses. Sure, I didn't like how you had to backtrack as Dante towards the end of the game, but playing as Dante was fun anyways. And the Dark Slayer style was awesome to use. I mean, the backtracking makes sense, in context, that Dante has to go back and destroy the demon gates, which are the reason WHY the demons are there and killing people in the first place, in Fortuna! I loved how Dante destroys each of the gates! With his newly acquired weapons! Like that awesome transforming briefcase, then the rose weapon, and finally, his brother's katana, the Yamato. I also loved how Dante entrusted the Yamato to Nero at the end of the game. I also liked Nero, though he does act like Dante a bit too much. But, he's still an awesome character. Don't know why everyone hates him too. Seems like everybody just hates DMC4 just to hate it. It's fine if people don't like it, but to just outright take their anger out on it makes NO sense to me. It's a perfectly fine game, with virtually ZERO flaws. And a special edition that improves the gameplay and lore of the series, even if it's only by a tiny bit. But to be fair, it's difficult, if not impossible to improve on the perfection that is DMC4.

@@shutendoji470 Ok, fair enough. I get it. DMC4 was the first multi-platform DMC game. It was from a different generation, felt different in many ways, that being one of them. You played as a different character for the majority of the game, fought Dante himself during the tutorial, played as Nero, who had different powers than Dante, but acted like Dante during DMC3, kind of like a punk. Plus, Nero was played by former 2nd Black Power Ranger, and the voice of Kaneda from Akira, as well as the voice of Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, Johnny Yong Bosch. He was also a huge reason why I loved DMC4. I loved Nero's gameplay, his Devil Bringer and the Buster move he had, it had a unique move and animation against literally every enemy, even bosses. His Devil Trigger wasn't as cool, but it did have everyone who played it wondering if Nero was related to Vergil and Dante. Which, spoiler, he IS. But, the game wasn't perfect. The backtracking as Dante was probably the worst part of the game. But, Dante was having fun during the cutscenes, destroying the hell gates with his new weapons, and the Yamato. And, fighting a giant statue that looked like his father, Sparda. While trying to rescue Nero and Kyrie. And, the final fight with Sanctus Diabolica, and the way Nero finishes him off, by slamming him against the wall with his Devil Bringer, while using the Yamato to free Kyrie, and then, stabbing Sanctus WITH it too! And I love the music too. And, I'd love to play an entire game as Nero. At the end, Dante passes the Yamato on to Nero because I think he knew, Nero was Vergil's son. And, just like Dante's father giving both him and Vergil the Yamato and the Rebellion, Dante gives Nero the Yamato. And, the end credits music was pretty awesome too. But, it sucks how Nero loses the Yamato in 5. But, he does get his Devil Bringer back though... and learns about his family and his past. Learning Vergil is his father, Dante is his uncle, and Sparda is his grandfather. Because Nero thought he was an orphan. He grew up with Credo(Kyrie's brother), and Kyrie herself. They both saw Nero as family too. And Credo mentored Nero and taught him how to fight, and Nero was given The Red Queen, which was a standard Holy Knight's sword, which he complexly modified into his own, with the Exceed system. And he had his own revolver, the Blue Rose too. Which he also modified to fire 2 shots at the same time, and modified it to work against demons. And when Nero was old enough, Credo let him join the Holy Knights, which worked for the Order Of The Sword, lead by Sanctus, the main bad guy. And Nico, the artisan of arms who works with Nero in 5, is apparently the daughter of Agnus, one of the douchey holy knights who kidnapped Kyrie, and artificially created a number of the demons that were attacking Fortuna, the setting of DMC4. Nero defeats him, but gets stabbed by him, and gets his DT powers. While Agnus runs away like a little bitch. While Credo was fine with being a part of these things, and was also working with the Order and their evil plan. And Nero had to fight him. But, as that fight was winding down, Kyrie somehow got there, and she saw Nero beating up her brother, and got the wrong idea. Then, Credo is all like "Nero, we must set aside this battle until I find the truth of this", and flies away. And, then, Kyrie gets kidnapped, and Credo decides he's going to rescue his sister. Along with Nero. So, he betrays Sanctus, and tries to rescue both Nero and his sister. But, he gets stabbed by the Yamato, and as he dies, he asks Dante to rescue both of them. And then, he does. And then, there was a DMC4 Special Edition. It's the only version of 4 I haven't played. I had to watch someone else play it. I wish I had a way to play the Special Edition of 4. Just for the gameplay and extra story bits alone. Being a hardcore DMC fan, I feel like I'm missing out here. Thanks for the good points on 4.
