I remember my first time playing this, he kicked my ass like 3 times; this is by far my favourite fight, and that cinematic is freaking awesome. This is the best Devil May Cry in my opinion.
You know something I love about Arkham how he symbolizes Dante and Vergil's traits and flaws and even kinda expressed them in there in counters Arkham like normal is like Vergil calm collected and has a thirst for power to be like sparda even down to reading a book and then Vergil keeps him around but when he shows seemingly weekness when not killing lady he gets rid of him finding him useless until it back fires on him and to doesn't workout like he wanted jester on the other hand is a goofball and even dose some crazy things of his own(like riding a gear that looks like a 12 laughing like a maniac) Dante at first hates him and doesn't think twice on shooting him away like his demon side in a weird way but none the less even his he doesn't like him he still helped and next time he decides to tolerate him and hear him out and again it did help like how he accepts his demon side to gane devil trigger and even gets an infinite devil trigger for a moment and when jester takes Vergil him and lady out he kinda shows what he feared what would happen if his demon side went to far or excepted it in the first place then Arkham shows up show Vergil he under estimated him he even says it out right stating "because you underestimate humans" that's some top tear subtle story telling I can respect the hell outta.
If there was one thing i learned from fighting Vergil, is to never shoot at him while you're using devil trigger when not in gunslinger, especially with Ebony and Ivory. Only use them as switch cancel when your opponent is vulnerable.
I really love how modernized Dante and lady are compared to Vergil. Vergil is completely ancient I guess? Dresses like it, even weapons are like it. Lady on the other hand is completely modernized, dressed like it and uses guns. Dante is a mix of both. He dresses modern and guns are modern, but his melee weapons are ancient looking.
+Tommy James trickster was the best style and mastering it proved very helpful. Quicksilver and royalguard were good but they could prove fatal if they didnt work
Arjun Gopinaht I used two broadsword(I forgot their names) and used the Tornado moves to go against Vergil! Also, i used Rebellion and Beowulf too, with Sword Master, that helped everytime!
Now that I think of this scene a little, that is either the strongest most durable rocket launcher in the world, or Vergil was holding back a decent amount with Yamato.

You need to learn to dodge roll out of the way of Vergil's attacks. It is much easier to attack him after he finishes his combo if you dodge roll rather than running around or jumping around the map.

According to the storyline, Arham didn't just becamed Jester out of knowhere just as a ruse to manipulate Dante, Vergil and Lady to get Sparda's power from the Temen-Ni-Gru, its explained that he sacrificed his wife Kalina Ann to gain demonic power, but it failed, making him have that scar on his face, and the only power he got was an immature demon power that enabled him to transform in the clown which severely changes his cold and cunning personality(although he controls this power).

I'm saying Yamato would draw more, both faster and easier, to the point that in the cutscene immediately following the fight where the two are bleeding from their wounds, Vergil has reverted to Yamato again. Even assuming Devil Arms self-maintain and Beowulf is freshly-sharpened, it'll still be doing more bruising and bone-breaking then cutting. Fists just aren't built for it, even if Beowulf was a Lightning Claw it'd still cut worse then a proper sword, because you lack the leverage to do real damage with slashing attacks. Also, my original post was poking fun at a harmless plot hole, more of a dent really, that I'm absolutely positive none of the writers thought of or cared when writing the line. Try not to put too much more thought into it then they did. When you hit someone with Beowulf, the sound it makes is smash. Vergil cares more about trying his cool new weapon then being efficient at making Dante bleed. The entire premise was a joke that you didn't get, we can all go home now.

I love how Vergil is just in absolute shock when he tries to slice Jester and he catches his sword. Like, the guy has never met a foe he couldn't slice and dice with the Yamato, even when he used it for the first time as a little kid against Mundus' demons. Then Jester just casually catches it and starts moving it around with his fingernails while Vergil just stares at him absolutely flabbergasted. He even looks away from Jester's fingers moving the sword around and stares directly into his eyes, like bro doesn't want to believe it's happening.
Tbh I find the powerscaling of Arkham to the brothers quite fishy. Even if Vergil was exhausted, there’s no way the Yamato, sharp enough to cut through dimensions wouldn’t even be able to make a scratch on Arkham, unless his demon form is strong enough. Even without his demon form, Arkham literally slid his fingers across Yamato and didn’t even look the least bit concerned. He and lady are insanely strong for just humans
The motion capture for this game is honestly incredible, considering it came out in 2005. Dan and Reuben are so perfect for their roles, it's pretty insane. And have great posturing on screen. Even the lip synching is pretty much on point with how you would expect the mouths to move for each word.
IDK I think that Reuben still has weird delivery on some lines and only really gets his Dante voice in DMC4. However, Dan is amazing in every game he's in including DMC3.
Also, notice the 13 in this scene; every mission has a part where their number shows up in a cutscene. Really clever, IMO, along with all the allusions to the Divine Comedy.

According to the storyline, Arham didn't just becamed Jester out of knowhere just as a ruse to manipulate Dante, Vergil and Lady to get Sparda's power from the Temen-Ni-Gru, its explained that he sacrificed his wife Kalina Ann to gain demonic power, but it failed, making him have that scar on his face, and the only power he got was an immature demon power that enabled him to transform in the clown which severely changes his cold and cunning personality(although he controls this power).

It's actually kinda cool seeing the difference between Vergil now, calm, cool, and collected only until things don't go his way and he starts to show his age when he gets angry and annoyed. Now we see him in 5 and now he retains all his coolness without becoming an angry child. He's just kinda done with all the bullshit.

@@dancingcarapace I'm not saying they won't draw blood. I'm saying Yamato would draw more, both faster and easier, to the point that in the cutscene immediately following the fight where the two are bleeding from their wounds, Vergil has reverted to Yamato again.
Even assuming Devil Arms self-maintain and Beowulf is freshly-sharpened, it'll still be doing more bruising and bone-breaking then cutting. Fists just aren't built for it, even if Beowulf was a Lightning Claw it'd still cut worse then a proper sword, because you lack the leverage to do real damage with slashing attacks.
Also, my original post was poking fun at a harmless plot hole, more of a dent really, that I'm absolutely positive none of the writers thought of or cared when writing the line. Try not to put too much more thought into it then they did.
When you hit someone with Beowulf, the sound it makes is smash. Vergil cares more about trying his cool new weapon then being efficient at making Dante bleed. The entire premise was a joke that you didn't get, we can all go home now.
Pretty sure he did that because he underestimated dante, and thought he didnt need to use yamato. After all, he almost unsheathed yamato, but put it back in its sheath

I love how Vergil is just in absolute shock when he tries to slice Jester and he catches his sword. Like, the guy has never met a foe he couldn't slice and dice with the Yamato, even when he used it for the first time as a little kid against Mundus' demons. Then Jester just casually catches it and starts moving it around with his fingernails while Vergil just stares at him absolutely flabbergasted. He even looks away from Jester's fingers moving the sword around and stares directly into his eyes, like bro doesn't want to believe it's happening.
Tbh I find the powerscaling of Arkham to the brothers quite fishy. Even if Vergil was exhausted, there’s no way the Yamato, sharp enough to cut through dimensions wouldn’t even be able to make a scratch on Arkham, unless his demon form is strong enough.
Even without his demon form, Arkham literally slid his fingers across Yamato and didn’t even look the least bit concerned. He and lady are insanely strong for just humans
Tbf, Yamato was stopped by a human-produced rocket launcher moments before that moment. Sooo..

The motion capture for this game is honestly incredible, considering it came out in 2005.
Dan and Reuben are so perfect for their roles, it's pretty insane. And have great posturing on screen. Even the lip synching is pretty much on point with how you would expect the mouths to move for each word.
IDK I think that Reuben still has weird delivery on some lines and only really gets his Dante voice in DMC4. However, Dan is amazing in every game he's in including DMC3.
nfsc also has pretty exotic motion caps for a game made just a year later
Also, notice the 13 in this scene; every mission has a part where their number shows up in a cutscene. Really clever, IMO, along with all the allusions to the Divine Comedy.
Hence why Reuben remained as Dante for every game afterwards.
