  • In our last video, we showed you that our ‪@WhippleSuperchargers‬ 4.5 liter supercharger locked up in our 2015 ‪@Dodge‬ Challenger Hellcat project car. We ended up tearing it down and found a screw had wedged itself in the supercharger rotors. Well, in this video, I show you exactly where that screw came from, and it is something that other Whipple 4.5 owners should know about and check on their cars.

Hi. Do you kniw the torQue specs for the cover and any other specs. Is there a tightening sequence? Thanks

What happened to SRT Hayes? Did he retire?

He moved to Florida about a year and a half ago. I haven’t heard much from him since.

Any way to safety wire those screws?🙃

A thread locking compound like Loctite should do the trick. If I installed it that’s the way I would have gone.

Was there any metal that made it into the engine?

Thankfully not, bottom end seems ok.

Good. I have a 2016 challenger hellcat. If I were to upgrade the Supercharger would you choose the 4.5 again or the smaller next generation 3.0.
      Thanks

3.0 all day. I have a gen 5 3.8 coming to replace the 4.5. That said the 4.5 is a lot better than it gets credit for. As long as you know the quirks when installing it, and work with a tuner that knows how to tune it, like Mike at OST Dyno, the 4.5 can make some serious power as well.

What typically kills a hellcat is a coyote... a 5.0 that is. 🤣🤣

I haven’t come close to having that problem yet. But yes Coyotes like boost and some are fast as hell.

Well said from a fanboy who most likely drives a Prius. Ignore the trolls my friend . I'm putting a 4.5 on my 6spd and plan on upgrading the valvetrain to handle around 7k rpm. That's where the power is with these large blowers
