2004 Toyota Sienna - P0798 - Solenoid - Pressure Solenoid C

Diagnosis and Fix of a P0798 Code on a 2004 Toyota Sienna. Turned out to be a corroded pin in the solenoid case connector.
Part # of solenoid wiring harness: 82125-08010.
Filter bolts torque spec is 8 ft lbs.
Pan bolts torque spec is 69 inch lbs. Use blue locktite on the pan gasket bolts.

Thanks for posting. I'm faced with the same exact problem. Radiator fluid got into the connector and damaged some of the pins.

Charles, great video and you hit all the great points , torque values, O ring ( which does not come with the filter ) . 3.5 quarts of fluid for starters ( toyota T-1V is what I use, and typically 4 qts when drain and fill ) Awesome !

I have a 2005 candy 2.4 liter engine. Just had the same code thrown at me. Do you know if it’s the same transmission and location for solenoid?

great video....I have 2005 sienna le and got same code P0798..did drain/refill transmission oil...no change.. If its not the cable pins..and actually the solenoid....which solenoid is it...there's like 3-4 of them down there...any diagram pics.

I believe it's the SL3 solenoid. There are two different transmissions in that vehicle.

Should be the U151E if I remember correctly. The U151F is for the AWD.

@@CharlesAndCars yes that sounds right thanks. I have a 2006 Lexus RX 330 with a U151F tranny and it whines in any gear. Once it warms to operating temp the whine almost goes away. Any experience with this or idea what may be causing it? I have yet to change fluid and filter and I’ve owned it for two months now. Every now and then it shifts rougher than normal I think between 2nd and 3rd gear. I was thinking it could be dirty solenoids (sl1, sl2, sl3, or slt)? Any thoughts or experience with that?

@@JosiahFinke Nothing specific, but if you haven't changed the fluid I would definitely change it and see if it makes any noticeable difference. Don't know how many miles it has, but it's probably pretty high given it's about 16 years old.

What tool did you use to loose the three "hard to get to" pan bolts?

just used a wrench; could just fit it in there to get at them

I uses a 10mm offset wrench to get to those "hard to get" bolts. I torqued all bolts with a torque wrench except those hard to get bolts ( 3 of them IIRC) as access was minimal, so I just guesstimate with the offset wrench.. I can't remember if I loosened the transmission mount and raised the engine a tad for easier access.

Wtf is that?? A rooster? 😆 Things pissing me off! Sucks when crap like this happens when on vacation... Looks like that car's seen better days too... Good advice about replacing the oring for the filter, or grommet, as it's called on my lesabre.. People never replace it, especially on like a 4t65 trans..... I replace everytime I do a service.. Easy.

Actually car is quite clean ... 95000 miles. Just a problem with the connector for the solenoids (weatherpak connector, still corroded a pin). Yep that's a rooster.
